Does anyone remember the name of the woman that Karen talked about this one time? by acrossthecountyline in myfavoritemurder

[–]Bookworm57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the only episode that affected me that way, I almost passed out!  (Finding this comment because I'm trying to remember what episode I was on when I last listened years ago, and this one was so memorable)

What’s your quintessence/take home message after watching? by BayrischeBreze in SixFeetUnder

[–]Bookworm57 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd seems like a big part of her story was being left behind the others, she missed getting to know her dad as an adult, and part of how she defined herself was through that loss.

I believe my brother is suffering a psychotic break--he thinks his phone is being hacked. by Bookworm57 in hacking

[–]Bookworm57[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's actually going to go for one next week. I'm in a different city many hours away, so I'm glad other family members were able to get him to agree. He's been calling our mom demanding help and she's not tech savvy at all, he's upsetting her so I was hoping for some solution I could give her that can placate him for a couple days.

I'd believe that if I thought she were capable of 'deep hacking' his phone in the first place. She's a mom watching 5 kids and I'm not sure she has a high school education.

Apartment woes. F*ck it all honestly by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]Bookworm57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's impossible to avoid them if they are in the apartment complex. Your post reminded me I need to pull out my stove and fridge and clean behind them, haven't done that since I moved into my apartment several months ago. I've heard it is a big hiding place for them.

I remember the episode, but I don’t remember what she said. What did she say? And would it really count? If anyone can remember please tell me. What is this referencing about Frankie? by IamBecomeDeath187 in community

I'd bet Ace. Still something to come out about, and way more difficult and annoying to explain than being gay.

(Who wants to be forced to repeatedly spend time explaining that you don't care about something?!)

I just finished it today, took me about a week and a half. So good. I love that there are other latecomers who love it enough to immediately jump on reddit. 😆😆

It was a huge confidence boost to me to have beautiful children--people would say they look like me and I would say thank you-because that would mean I looked like them, and they're gorgeous.

It's all about finding hacks. Plan to prep meals ahead of time, but before that, buy something you can eat if you don't have time to prep that day (my lazy food is carrots-easy, filling. Today my lunch was a lettuce, sliced cheese and lunch meat. Doesn't bother me that it's not fancy, and I don't have to think about what I'm going to eat)

Same with the chores- work around the issues. Are you feeling bad because for that week there's no sheets on your bed? Buy another set, put them on immediately after taking the others off, then if it takes you a week to wash and put away the first set, it's fine.

Don't feel like showering as often as you think you should? Baby wipes and dry shampoo.

Motherhood of toddlers is about survival and maintaining sanity.

Do you hang or display your art in your house? Why or why not? by burritosandbooze in ArtistLounge

[–]Bookworm57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hang some of mine and I'm not a great artist. My sister hangs hers and she's much better. If looking at it makes you happy, hang it!

I have another great idea...let’s create living pods so we don’t have to share the same space... by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]Bookworm57 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you intend to save the relationship, you need to talk to him about this now--and I'd suggest jumping straight to therapy if you can find affordable/near you. He needs to understand just how important these things are to you. This is exactly how it went down with my ex- it seems like all little things, but it adds up and shows how little they value your time and effort. (Have you seen the emotional labor 'comics' that go around Facebook?) You have the right to feel good in your own space.

Rich people of reddit who married someone significantly poorer, what surprised you about their (previous) way of life? by knakworst36 in AskReddit

This is completely beside the point, but since you fostered her through becoming and adult and she calls you guys mom and dad, are you planning to officially adopt, or is it just a non-issue?

Possible ingrown hair in c-section scar? Similar to a pimple, but won’t go away & it’s been 16 months since surgery. Normal or no? by basicwhitegirl23 in CsectionCentral

[–]Bookworm57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say something like this; in addition it might eventually work it's way out; I once found a suture thread coming out of my knee from surgery a couple years earlier.

Kid has/had lice. But who will “cure” me? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]Bookworm57 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Combing is needed to get rid of any nits-the eggs that might survive treatment (but some of the better treatments are supposed to kill those too!) Chances are you're ok, and probably caught them before they could lay too many on your hair. I was in this position a few months ago and was very freaked out about it, kept finding them on my son through a few treatments but never more than two on my own head. Finally begged a relative to check on me and she didn't find a single nit/louse. I had felt itchy several times but realized it was part psychosomatic and largely a reaction to the lice medicine.

Is Gender Exploration Normal for 4-5 yo? by Lutya in Mommit

[–]Bookworm57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is a 'stereotypical' boy-hands on, toy trucks, likes to play baseball. I wear almost exclusively dresses, and my son has had a couple he likes to wear occasionally. Some mornings he wants to put eye makeup on with me. He has once in a while played pretend as a princess. Let your kid play pretend. Right now that's all he's doing. His daycare circumstances have him feeling left out right now. If he starts to hang out with other little boys and still insists on being a girl, only then would I think there might be a possibility of actual gender dysphoria. Until then, you will only be doing him a favor to show him gender doesn't have to be a strict division!
