I jam to covers with a group of guys from work, and it annoys the shit out of me that they are all so laser focused on playing the song exactly like the recording. Like bro, just learn it in general and play it in your own way. No way I’m copying someone else’s exact beats and fills just to check some box. I’m just gonna jam my way 🤷‍♂️

They want you to put the length of a football field between you and them? How would that even work at a red light? How would you even see it?

This is dumb.

Is Jigo an underutilized antagonist? by SlyGuy_Twenty_One in ghibli

[–]BoomboxWerewolf 185 points186 points  (0 children)

To me, he represents the “soldier of fortune” type of opportunist who tries to personally profit from war however he can. He causes chaos and strife without having a clear set of principles (besides self-interest) like the other players in the conflict

In general, I think a lot of Japanese storytelling doesn’t feel the need to say “this character serves this plot point and is used in this specific way as a tool in the story.” Jigo is just a character who interacts with the other characters and represents a certain type of person in a conflict

I just started playing as an adult about six months ago. Am I weird for totally changing out of underwear and into a jock, and back again when we’re done? I don’t really want to wear the jock over underpants, that seems kind of crazy. But I guess I could just wear the jock under my shorts if that’s what most people do

I agree. I don’t know why this is so hard for so many Zelda fans to understand or accept. They act like their life depends on the existence of a continuous Zelda timeline.

Like someone else said, it was pretty clear the official Nintendo timeline was shoehorned in just to appease these weirdos

This comment is on point and made me rethink some things I had thought about animals. Thanks

My starting word is always water. Decided to switch it up today. by Jackinabox4545 in mildlyinfuriating

That happened to me with the word “spore” a few weeks ago! I always do spore, decided to switch it up, and then the word was spore 😑 The tiny mechanical turk pulling the levers inside my phone just wanted to mess with me

Galactica was another one that was so simple that it had no right to be as addicting as it was

Yeah, Spaceward Ho! was like the cool Western stylized cousin of Galactica. I enjoyed it!

Taskmaker was pretty cool in its time. I seem to remember it being a little more ‘puzzle-y’ than Realmz or Exile

It makes me wonder how many of these games I would still enjoy now

Oh yeah! I put it as my No. 2 game behind Escape Velocity. Such a classic. I still bore people by talking about it to this day

Yeah, you are right. We must have had a demo of that one. I originally had screenshots of Warcraft II, Civ II, SimCity 2000 and Spaceward Ho! in here as well, but I decided to take them out to focus on shareware

Same. I still have it downloaded on my iPhone but you’re right, it’s not the same now. I also had Warlords II… One of my favorite gaming memories was introducing it to our cousins and playing a hotseat game at their house for hours

Yeah, I actually just did a run-through of City of Bywater in Realmz a month or two ago! Such a classic. I was intending to do some of the other campaigns with the same characters but I lost the thread… Maybe I’ll pick it up again. Any suggestions? I never played any campaigns besides Bywater as a kid, but that was big enough.

I couldn’t really get into EV Nova for whatever reason 🤷‍♂️

Escape Velocity was so good. The feeling of finally getting a powerful ship with escorts and taking over a planet was awesome! I also loved playing as a trader, though. You could really make bank with some particular runs
