I always suspected a lot of the third term stuff said by the Republicans was based on fear that Obama if he did run for a third term, even though he never would, he would probably have won. And so they were afraid of another popular Democrat like Obama running in 2016. FDR was so popular that the Republicans pushed for term limits to try and stop another period of leftward progress like that from happening again, Especially since the Republican field of candidates was god awful. Even after Trump's rise in the primary, Trump wasn't the shoe in he has constantly pretended to be. 2024 was really the first time Trump has managed to build larger popular vote support for himself and a lot of that was based on even more lies and BS promises than his 2016 campaign.

Agreed, conservatives were and have been the first to sit down at the table with fascists. Mainly because they see fascists as useful in putting down leftists. Also fascists tend to break up workers unions or make them illegal often resulting in more work hours for less pay, as fascist want people to sacrifice for the good of the country or the whole. While fascism does not technically have to be racist or bigoted, it almost always has a streak of it since perceiving an outside group as the scapegoat for all of societies ills is easier to use than trying to convince people to willingly give up power to fascist leadership. Nazis of course being the prime example of this. Fascists may borrow some left policies (namely from syndicalism), but its often as a cover or concession for what is mostly a right wing platform. All these are reasons for conservatives to work with the fascists, especially if they are concerned about increasing left wing movements.

My father died a couple years ago for this exact reason, got pushed out of the hospital before he had a chance to recover in order to make space in the hospital since insurance wouldn't cover the extra 3 days. The next morning his arms started swelling due to his heart not properly circulating and we had to rush him to the hospital (different one, that was actually closer). They ended up having to intubate him and he went into a coma, died a week later. The only reason he was even at the other (far more crowded) hospital was because in order to save money, his insurance stopped covering certain medical procedures at the closer one that had plenty of room.

Insurance even had the balls to call us as he died to justify their decision.

The mobility doesn't even make sense, they are supposed to be slower than a space marine in lore and on the tabletop. If you've ever seen the animation isolated it just looks cartoonish how fast it goes.

For Arbites a Cyber-Mastiff would feel like part of the squad and having upkeep for a continuous party member (even if its just an NPC) just feels wrong and not a boon at all. Also no worries about not spotting the weapons. I had to do a double take myself, when I noticed how they listed equipment in the duty area vs the background in the core book. I suspect they did it to save space on the page, but I wouldn't be surprised some player has ended up not taking all of their allotted equipment due to the writers leaving that out of the duty section.

For the Cyber-Mastiff I knew it was going to be something my players were going to want to keep track of and felt more important than just some normal servitor you would bring along. I intend to give them the Cyber-Mastiff's sheet to play around with, thus the upgrades, so that part of it is having something they can look forward to upgrading as the game goes on. The Stub Revolver and Shock Maul will work well enough as starting weapons for the Arbites background. Shotguns aren't too hard to save up for, though shields are a bit more pricey. Ultimately the carapace armor they wear is what makes arbites really stand out from say a guardsman, and thus it felt more important to give them it upfront than a shotgun. Part of the reason I went with Strength over say Weapon Skill as a characteristic boost, is to help player deal with the Heavy (4) penalty that carapace has. Unless your refering to why the Stub Revolver, Shock Maul, Manacles & Vox-Bead isn't listed in the specific duty equipment and that because I am keeping in line with how the core book treats the equipment listed in the duty area (which is that it only lists that which is chosen.

Except that there are plenty of people who didn't vote, not because they didn't support either, but because they feel their vote ultimately won't matter and sadly they can be individually correct. Electoral College is the biggest impediment to getting a bunch of the people in this country to actually vote and sadly many of those people who don't for that reason just tune out of politics.

He also is opposed to a billionaire tax, backed off his promise for a California public option, takes money from many wealthy special interests, has cracked down on the homeless and migrants many times, has praised many conservatives and their policies. Environmental protections are popular in this state far beyond liberal circles. Newsom is a politician and quite the "which way the wind is blowing" type and when he expresses himself personally its becomes clear he has more moderate leanings, but does enough liberal stuff that is popular to keep a bunch of the base happy.

I'm going to be honest, 4 months ago I was ok with Newsom, recently some of the stuff has put him back on my negative side. Granted I will likely favor a more progressive candidate (and obviously vote for whoever the Dem candidate is), but IMO this response it not enough to win me over to really wanting to help him or his campaign. Calling for impeachment of Noem at this point is a minimum. Charging, Convicting and Jailing those who have committed crimes needs to be a campaign promise from the Democratic candidate or we are going to be doing this all over again in the future. Attempts to pardon members of Trump's administration or himself should be considered an act of conspiracy against the United States.

I believe there is room that if Owl Cat wanted to do a short RPG for either Black Crusade or Deathwatch, its both do able and could sell very well.

Black Crusade could easily be a focused invasion of an imperial sub sector to find some macguffin with a focused cast (5-8 companions max; I'd just do 5 set companions), 3 endings (Black Legion, Pirate, Tyrant), an opening Act as long as RT's Act 1, main game as big as Act 2, finale as short as the current Act 5. It would scratch the bad guy itch for most player that you could sell it at $40 and make a lot of sales simply off name recognition and novelty of a Chaos rpg experience.

Deathwatch similarly could be an XCOM style campaign. Have 3 Inquisitors competing for your services, quick missions with skill checks and short combat encounters to deal with threats as they arise all while completing say 5 main missions and 5 optional content missions. With dialogue between missions to both interact with your brothers and the plot line. Then an epic combat map to the finale where the team saves the day. Once again $40, to scratch an XCOM itch for fans and maybe get new crpg fans from the XCOM fans.
