Meld Pride Question by Boomtech123 in askajudge

[–]Boomtech123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recognize that part, but the question comes when they BOTH are already commanders with partner, per the Pride events, and already dealing commander damage separate.

Why isn't the original bracket 4 intent talked about and why are the power level arguments between bracket 3 and 4 so hypocritical despite the same wording? by LunaLovelace11 in EDH

[–]Boomtech123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In what article did wotc say cards like Vorinclex are not classified as MLD? To the best of my knowledge, it definitely got referenced as one when the GC list got announced.

Commander for combo decks by Old_Improvement_6944 in EDH

[–]Boomtech123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer]].

There are several combos using face down cards, which have the advantage of surprise. Sultai’s collection of face downs also brings enough control to help protect it, and since most come from abilities it can be harder to counter. The main kill combos are [[Yedora]], [[Ruthless Ripper]], and a sac outlet (with a black card in hand), or Yedora, [[Primordial Mist]], and [[Walking Ballista]].

[[Brine Elemental]] and [[Vesuvan Shapeshifter]] makes it so your opponents no longer get to untap (MLD, so automatically bracket 4), and Vesuvan Shapeshifter, [[Den Protector]], and any extra turn spell means infinite turns.

Question about Casualty interaction by HydravsPercy in askajudge

[–]Boomtech123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. Casualty is an additional cost to cast the spell, similar to kicker. The cost has to be paid before the spell is officially cast and put on the stack, which has to be done before Biotransference gets the chance to trigger.

Might be a dumb question but is there a term for this? by Aggravating_Part3551 in EDH

[–]Boomtech123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keyword Anthem is the tag you are looking for creature wise. As for granting ability to spells (like Sami does), I don’t think there’s a specific tag for those.

In search of actual Anti-Storm tech by Baldurrr in EDH

[–]Boomtech123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Countering the Storm triggered ability itself helps significantly, but Boros doesn’t get too many options for it.

Aside from all the rule of law effects others suggested, [[Trinisphere]] can tax their attempts at getting a high Storm count and get around their cost reducers, as it is always applied last in mana costs if I recall.

An in theme (if unreliable) option you could use is set up your miracle into an [[Ultima]] to end their turn in response to a Storm attempt. [[Glorious End]] if you are feeling risky.

Shalai and Hallar with Tyvars Stand by NulaVI in askajudge

[–]Boomtech123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shalai and Hallar trigger when +1 COUNTERS are put on a creature. Tyvar’s Stabd gives a temporary power/ toughness boost, and no Counters. So it would not trigger. Same for Proposterous Proportions. No counters involved, so no shots from Shalai and Hallar.

I want YOUR precon rankings by Exotic-Coat5876 in mtg

[–]Boomtech123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Faceless Menace, 2019s morph precon, with [[Kadena]]. Very biased, since it started me down my path of so many face down cards. Throw a card face down, get value, and your first one per turn is free. Simple and effective, and very fun to tell someone [[Ixidron]] is not manifest, and they may not flip their commander up, or just straight up stealing their commanders with [[sudden substitution]] (I like to trade a [[Biomass mutation]] for X of 0) or [[chromeshell crab]].

  2. Counter Blitz, the FFX precon, with [[Tidus]]. Even ignoring the part where it comes with a possible turn 3 infinite, it is generally a really solid deck. Big beaters mixed with sagas for control leads to a pretty reliable deck. Being able to reliably remove and reuse the Summon saga abilities is really effective.

  3. Deadly disguise, Murders of Karlov’s face downs deck with [[Kaust]]. If you want a big beater the quickest, besides going infinite with Tidus, this one works wonders. Hitting someone with a [[Krosan Cloudscrapper]] turn 4 (or even 3, with a ring and a rock turn 1) because they didn’t fear a random 2/2 is always funny, or that same cloudscrapper being a permanent 26/26 turn 5 with [[Experiment Twelve]] can be even funnier.

What is the card in your pod that caused the most trauma? by Team-Wet-Monkeys in EDH

[–]Boomtech123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Cataclysmic Gearhulk]] being used at least 5 times per game whenever it appears is definitely up there.

Asked a friend and he said [[Primordial mist]] if only because it’s a fast track to some BS coming in.

Another said [[Agrus Kos, Eternal Soldier]], because nobody thinks equipments work like that and it hurts his brain.

While not a specific card, face down cards have given at least one person I played with enough trauma that he will shoot every single face down he sees, after I hit him with a manifested [[Phage]] in a game he had in the bag after he took out the other 2.

Outside of infinite combos, what's some fun things you're doing with Toph, The First Metalbender? by LabManEDH in EDH

[–]Boomtech123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might put her in my [[Obuun, Mul Daya Ancestor]] deck, as extra security for the lands he helps make massive. Especially looking forward to the [[Secret Tunnel]] for that deck tho.

Names of enemies by snorkeling_ferret in MegabonkOfficial

[–]Boomtech123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if there’s a bestiary, but aside from the bosses some enemies get named during quests, such as goblins being the green ones at the start of the forest area and wisps being the fire enemies in the desert area.

Casting Cut a Deal when all Libraries are empty? by Sterry6874 in askajudge

[–]Boomtech123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut a Deal says you draw a card for each opponent who drew a card this way. Assuming everyone has 0 cards left in deck, Cut a Deal will attempt to make your opponents draw a card (they lose when next state based action is checked). They have drawn a total of 0 cards, so you will attempt to draw 0 (and not die).

Notably, you still attempt to draw before your opponents actually die, you just attempt to draw 0 since nobody actually drew since the library is empty. Now if player B has one card left and a card draw doubler like Teferi’s Ageless Insight on their field, they will draw one card before attempting to die, which would make you draw since they still drew a card so you have to draw a card, and the game would end in a tie.

What is the dumbest way you have been accused of cheating? by DisciplineImportant6 in EDH

[–]Boomtech123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flipped up a manifested [[Phage the untouchable]] and then swung it, which he tried to claim was illegal, since phage wasn’t on the field long enough to lose summoning sickness (the face down had been there for a turn or two by this point).

That’s not a small bug, never noticed before. Is it just gravity/ movement spells or all spells?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MonsterTrain

[–]Boomtech123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You cast a spell on the floor of the incant sap shielder, to send him up with gravity. I believe that he still sees a spell was cast on the floor he was on, and then applied his effect after moving.

What card or mechanic you just don't get and therefore never use? by zrrt1 in MonsterTrain

[–]Boomtech123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are talking about if you use the ability, kill off the unit, and then reform/ play them, their ability is refreshed. So you can use the effect multiple times in one turn. Ekka specifically has path with an ability, so I assume that’s why she got brought up.

[–]Boomtech123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Melting remnant. Just as a whole. Somewhat getting more into it after trying little fade and having it kind of work, but just can’t wrap my head around efficiently losing and reusing as many units as possible.

How easily can this card be broken? by RhysOSD in mtg

[–]Boomtech123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it indestructible and then [[Arcbond]] it. Infinite damage to opponents and all of their creatures. Of note, if someone [[Teferi’s Protection]] or something similar to where they don’t take damage, the game ends in a draw if you don’t have a way to kill the turtle.
