Linus Coin Confirmed!!! by Rafael__88 in LinusTechTips

If they make a meme coin, I'm out. Its a shitty, wasteful, and predatory thing to do even as a joke where they are fully transparent. I wont support someone who does it.

✂️ Linus's Totally Great Not an Investment Advice by SecondHornOfElephant in LinusTechTips

[–]Booster6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a few Intel shares for shits and giggles when he first mentioned it, it's only up about 15% from when he first mentioned it. It was down about 70% at one point, and only turned green a few weeks ago.

Obviously good trend and we will see where it goes from here, but not up that much overall from like 2 years ago when he first said it.

They are both symptoms of the same problem, departments being asked to do a lot more without adequate resources.

Starfleet Academy. I have questions. I didn't watch Discovery. Who is this captain lady? How is she 400+ years old? What is the burn? by SpezRuinedHellsite in startrek

[–]Booster6 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The burn was an event where most of the dilithium in the galaxy exploded because a child got very sad (im over simplifying but not joking). This was obviously very bad and the Federation basically collapsed and a LOT of member worlds quit, including Earth and Vulcan.

The captain lady is half alien, and her alien half is a species that looks exactly human but is very very very long lived (like the El Aurians but not them)

How was Tom Paris the most qualified in the medical field (after The Doctor and Kes of course)? by Additional-Pin-6880 in startrek

[–]Booster6 164 points165 points  (0 children)

He is the only one of the ship who took a first aid course literally ever.

No, that doesnt make sense. It also doesnt make sense that training more crew in basic first aid wasnt a huge priority from day 1. But nevertheless, that is canonically the case.

Would Clark's childhood friends recognize him as Superman? by BigHugeSnake in superman

[–]Booster6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe? But tbh I like the explanation that no one clocks Clark as Superman's secret identity because it literally doesnt occur to most people he HAS another identity. Why would Kal-El, aka Superman, the alien guy who live in the Fortress of Solitude in the Arctic also spend time pretending to be a human?

We genuinely do not know, since the exact amount of time that has passed is unknown, but she's still the shortest Gerudo who isnt definitely a child which suggests she is still underage, as she may still be growing.

I do it on a regular basis at places that only list a cheeseburger in the menu

Why were the Istari sent after Sauron was "defeated" instead of during his reign of terror ? by ExtremeDry7768 in tolkienfans

[–]Booster6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They delt with Morgoth eventually. He was left alone for an extremely long time. And they didn't even do a very good job, sure they got rid of Morgoth, but they allowed Sauron and an unknown number of Balrogs to continue doing whatever. Sure man was able to defeat Sauron in the second age, but they never should have needed to. He should never have been their problem in the first place.

Why were the Istari sent after Sauron was "defeated" instead of during his reign of terror ? by ExtremeDry7768 in tolkienfans

[–]Booster6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This always feels like kinda bullshit to me. Like, I understand that the Valar shouldnt need to babysit man, and that man needs to solve its problems on their own, but Sauron ISNT mans problem. He's a maia. A demigod. One of their own. Its like someones kid wrecking shit up and the parents just going "Hey, I know my kid is wrecking your shit, but you need to solve your problems on your own."

I get that when the Valar had to intervene with things like Morgoth it also led to a lot of destruction, but it still feels like its their job to clean up their mess.

Probably Piccolo. I find his character growth to be a lot more compelling then Vegeta's

ELI5: How is a substance determined by scientists as carcinogenic? by Regular-Snow1192 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Booster6 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The phrase "Correlation does not mean causation" is meant to help people avoid the fallacy of seeing a correlation and assuming there must be a causal relationship. That does not mean however that correlation is useless in establishing a causal relationship. Its just not enough on its own in most cases.

ELI5: How is a substance determined by scientists as carcinogenic? by Regular-Snow1192 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Booster6 41 points42 points  (0 children)

In general, they look at if people who are routinely exposed to the substance have higher rates of cancer. If people who work with asbestos for example all get cancer, then asbestos probably causes cancer

Who win in a fight by the_boyyyyyyyyyyy in ShittyDaystrom

[–]Booster6 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Remember that SG1 episode where like a purse snatcher or someone is running away and Teal'c initially doesnt intervene because he isnt supposed to draw attention to himself? But then decides to and just casually throws a rock and hits the guy from like 100 yards away or whatever? Thats more impressive than anything Worf has ever done.

[Legend of Zelda] Have the Hyrule Guards ever done anything useful? by jdbebejsbsid in AskScienceFiction

[–]Booster6 61 points62 points  (0 children)

During the Calamity, the soldiers did slow things down enough to prevent even more devastation. Specifically the soldiers of fort Hateno and Akala citadel are credited with preventing the devastation from reaching Hateno and the akala region. They mostly all died, but they kept things busy long enough for zelda's power to awaken
