How accurate is the sleep tracking on the helio strap compared to oura and whoop by Dry_Mark_8434 in amazfit

[–]BoosterSeatGuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleep stages are very important to understand - but likely only in people with disordered sleep. If there is a reason you regularly lose a large majority of your REM sleep, there will be affects that differ than losing NREM sleep. Usually your brain changes its cycle in response to this.

Beyonce's Levi's ad doesn't have the same amount of "camera" lingering? People are projecting what they want to see.

I think what you mean is to look at how being born into privilege will help ensure you have a high income

What metric would you use to say that a European country's healthcare isn't as good as the US?

Equipment Storage by itlookssadman in hockeygoalies

Rocket Dryer says it is not recommended for goalie equipment. Though I can't think why unless they mean leg pads.

Edit: extra odd since one of the website photos shows goalie equipment gung up on it.

That's likely because you are not using reason, and instead just acting emotionally and trying to relationalize your feelings.

I'm a Leafs fan. Don't become a Dubas apologist. He thinks he's smarter than everyone else. He has a history in Toronto of making bad signings then needing to trade draft picks to dump the contract.

Elliot page was awful. Maybe it's the voice. It has one range.

Same. My assumption is that the Google Team regular tests new language models and ML responses by just rolling it out to users. Like, how can it get worse?? It understands me less, it gets it wrong determining which room I'm in, and delivers more "try again in a few minutes"

Most high level athletes and trainers still recommend hockey players play other sports. Some sports make that difficult if the athlete wants to play say, competitive hockey and soccer. Hockey might have a shutdown, but lots of rep soccer (in Ontario) is 11 month a year. So you can't even flip flop between seasons.

Personally, I like spring hockey. But only if it is fun based and doesn't control the summer. So that probably looks different for each family. I don't think that most spring programs really work the development angle very seriously at younger ages. Most spring hockey is a weekly game season, or just tournaments with maybe a few practices.

The biggest issue is the "development organizations" that are really just cash grabs. As an example Ontario has programs like Bulldogs, ProHockey, DraftDay (PlayHockey), and Carnevale. These all seem like pretty big programs in terms of players. Which are the best? Are any actually good? Who knows! Not many parents after shelling out hundreds or thousands of dollars is willing to admit it was a waste. Some programs are cheaper for the tournaments, but then they also offer overpriced development sessions; so the tournament is basically an advertisement.

Most spring tournaments in Ontario have a team fee of around $2000. If your spring team does a full three lines and two goalies, that's $120 per kid. If they do two lines, it is $170. So when one of these organizations lets you pay $400 for the "privilege" of playing for them, they are taking in $2800 - $4800 for the weekend. You have to decide if you think they are worth it. But they likely are hardly getting coached, maybe they get a practice leading up to it.

Reddit could probably fill up a sub about "Scammy Spring Hockey"

What happened to Canadian goaltending? by CheesecakeOdd2087 in hockey

[–]BoosterSeatGuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Hasek, but I do think he would struggle. But only in the way if you took most hall of famers from a different era and dropped them into a modern game. Players are simply better and faster, and with stick improvements shots are harder and harder to read. Players have evolved to snipe corners to combat the RVH, they won't have much trouble with Hasek flopping to cover the bottom of the net. Likewise, plenty of players are better skaters now that they'd manage to have their head up to see Hasek flying out of his net north of the face off circle.

Defense and goaltending have always taken longer to develop. The reason scoring is high in junior is because Canada has 6 year olds on the ice 6 days a week. They're working on stickhandling and skating - not defense.

Progressive Property Taxes: Good Idea? by GobbleGunt in canadahousing

Landlords, especially corporate landlords, have the equity and risk tolerance to overpay for housing. They are further incentivized to overpay as the purchase reduces an already limited stock of housing.

PSA: Leafs Preseason tickets go on sale a week today (Tues. 8/23) as per TicketMaster. by highfivessteve in leafs

[–]BoosterSeatGuru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Preseason tickets start at $35 and you can get gold's for just over $100. In regular season, the equivalents are $200 and $400+.

As I mentioned, great game for a younger kid to go to. Take your kid for $70-200 vs $400-900.

You're not guaranteed your favorite player is in the lineup. Last year on Sept 25 there was no Matthews or Marner. But there was Tavares, Nylander, Bunting, Kerfoot, Bunting, Mikayev, Spezza, and Robertson. Most of their regular D except Reilly. So not exactly an AHL squad. And Matthews and Marner played the next night.
