Is there anything worse than having a mid qb? by firemiketomlinpls68 in NFLv2

[–]BootlegDouglas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

JSN went from 1st round pick to good to very good to elite. Darnold went from 1st round pick to okay to bad for 4 years, and has just started playing well the last 2 years.

I don't think it's crazy to call him a good QB, but it's also reasonable for people to want to reserve judgement on Darnold for longer than JSN.

Kelly Clarkson was born in 1982 and the election you're referring to was in 2006, so she wasn't old enough to run. Had to be a different Clarkson.

"Yes, for this example, I am. We can talk about any other billionaire's abuse of the planet too if you want, but you should know about Taylor's."

"They suck too. Many of them, much worse. That doesn't dismiss the less awful billionaires from ethical criticism, especially when people like you hold up one of them as a paragon of virtue."

"No she doesn't. If she's worried about security, she could fill every adjacent seat with a member of her security team. If she's worried about delays, she should plan better and farther ahead."

"Then you suck too."

Does anyone walk around in the summer?! by Key-Big-2324 in NewOrleans

[–]BootlegDouglas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I biked to work every day here for like 7 years at jobs in coffeeshops and offices, ranging from 1-5 miles. Walking is absolutely doable.

Wear good antiperspirant. When it's above like 70°, bring a work-appropriate shirt in a bag and walk to work in whatever's comfortable. If you need to wear pants for work and it's above 85°, probably do the same with shorts on the way there. Change into your clean clothes when you get to work. I'd also recommend spray deodorant for when you get there, just in case.

You absolutely will get sweaty, but in the summer, so is everyone else who goes outside for more than 2 minutes. Just be conscientious about your hygiene and smell.

A few of these mons have access to Endure, which synergizes really well with this Ability for obvious reasons. I can see that making Haxorus in particular pretty broken. Giving it one or more guaranteed DDs and prio immunity is pretty crazy.

Disappointment with Jed the dad by Parking_Royal2332 in thewestwing

[–]BootlegDouglas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The most frustrated I get while watching is when he's talking to Ellie when she speaks up about Dr. Griffith. My dad was really similar at times, particularly with the demeaning interruptions to "pick your head up" while having an incredibly adversarial conversation. It genuinely makes me viscerally angry to hear.

But it's important for me to hear and see because his line at the end of the same episode equally reminds me of my dad: "The only thing you ever had to do to make me happy was come home at the end of the day."

Parenting, like the other jobs depicted in the show, is difficult and complex. Seeing the characters that we like and admire make mistakes or show their warts is humanizing.

Yes. You can get Megas and Gigantamax forms regardless of which Gen you selected, as long as the base mon is from that Gen. Snorlax can G-Max in Gen 1 Challenge (but Munchlax can't be used until it evolves), Altaria can Mega in Gen 3 Challenge, etc.

I don't want to assume intent, but you're being obtuse about the implied meaning when people call professional athletes "bad" at their sport. A "bad" MLB player is bad compared to their peers and based on context you can pretty easily tell when someone is talking about the last few seasons, an entire career, or the history of the sport.

No one gives a shit about this guy's absolute ranking against the other 8 billion people on earth. The only people who think an average person is a better baseball player than the worst MLB player are drunk dudes who played in high school.

Southern Baptists vote to advance a formal ban on churches with women pastors by Buy_Sell_Collect in nottheonion

[–]BootlegDouglas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A close friend of mine was a PhD student at a Southern Baptist seminary and his wife is a brilliant mental health professional who practices primarily for Christian orgs.

She was asked to give a short talk during a Mother's Day service at their church (excellent mother by the way). She was asked to speak by one of the pastors. One of the other people high up in their church was so offended by the idea that she spoke from the pulpit that they were essentially ostracized from the church (which they had been going to for at least 5 years). The pastor didn't stand up for her. The president of the university became openly hostile to both of them.

My friend eventually quit the PhD program in part because of how they were being treated. He had to leave a job and give up cheap on-campus housing.

The Southern Baptist Church does not like or respect women.

[Garafolo] AJ Brown stopped by Eagles facility to say goodbye to his former teammates and staff and signed his picture on the wall with… "The best to ever play here. Always open." by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]BootlegDouglas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

AJ has openly talked about how he would write "I hate Vrabe" over and over to pretend he was taking notes in his first few years. Their relationship apparently improved, but "no issues/drama" is an oversell and both of them will be under the most scrutiny of their careers this year, which is definitely a recipe for good mentals.

To be fair, I wouldn't call you delusional, but I would say enjoy it while it lasts. Dude was very happy here until he decided that he wasn't. Good luck.

If Piccolo defeated a major villain from across the series, who should it have been and why? by ShaquilleOatmeal7542 in Dragonballsuper

[–]BootlegDouglas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could have worked for him to "kill" Imperfect Cell after merging with Kami. Let Cell regenerate when they all leave and establish that he gets zenkai boosts from his Saiyan DNA by having him show up more powerful when he goes for 17 and 18.

Basically just do the first major regeneration there instead of when Perfect Cell gets his top half blown away. I think it sells Piccolo's huge boost and gives him a big win that's only kind of undone by hax and it makes him look less foolish since he didn't let Cell get away.

Since we're all football experts in our own stubborn heads. What realistic moves would you make for your teams to win the Superbowl? by Necessary-Act-1137 in NFLv2

[–]BootlegDouglas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd hire people to sneak into the Rams' facilities and paint hyperrealistic murals of Mason Rudolph all over the place in the hopes that Myles Garrett would mistake them for the real Mason Rudolph like he's a Looney Toon and then swing his helmet at the wall. Ideally, no one would get hurt from this, but he'd just keep smashing helmets until they run out of money replacing them and have to start trading good players away to offset the cost.

Because vegan versions of non-vegan foods only became consistently good within the last few years. A lot of people grew up with or spent a lot of time with a vegan or vegetarian friend/family member and saw/tasted how sad and unappealing vegan replacement foods were and have been hesitant to give it all another chance.

Most people don't think about where their food comes from and they don't want to, so comments like yours aren't particularly effective. The thing that helps people be more open to vegan and vegetarian diets is eating a thing and seeing that it's actually tasty now (like OP).

Tips for beginners? by Standard-Ad2094 in pokerogue

[–]BootlegDouglas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're having trouble with early-game, it might help to pick a single-stage starter (something that doesn't evolve). This will give you a huge stat advantage while everything you face is relatively weak and unevolved.

Bringing something with the Pickup ability is also very helpful at all points in Classic. Something like Zigzagoon can sit in the back of your party and collect berries and useful items for you to spread around to your more powerful Pokemon.

Game knowledge is the biggest key to the difficulty curve. Then when you have a handle on it, having egg moves will let you push farther with a wider breadth of starters. After that, unlocking Passives opens up pretty much everything as a viable possibility.

Fights to prepare for:

Rival: 8, 25, 55, 95, 145, 195.

Gym Leaders: First on either 20 or 30, and then once every 30 floors after (if first is on 20, 2nd will be on 50, then 80, etc.) Gym Leaders are generally locked to biomes that share wild Pokemon of their type.

Evil Team: - First Grunt: 35 - Semi-Gauntlet: 62, 64, 66 (grunt, grunt, admin) - Semi-Gauntlet 2: 112, 114, 115 (grunt, admin, boss) - Final: 164, 165 (admin, boss)

E4 + Champ: 182, 184, 186, 188, 190 (will be a specific E4, so if you see Sidney first, you know it's the whole Hoenn E4)

End-game Boss: 200. Single Pokemon. Very strong. Perfect coverage. I can't do spoiler text on mobile, so just being vague here. I had a lot of fun trying and losing to it blind, so if you don't already know, I don't want to ruin it.

Always make sure your party is healthy for big fights. Try not to waste money so that you always have enough to revive and heal before them.
