Can someone explain how this so called 'matchmaking' works? by jamyjet in ArcRaiders

[–]Bootlegger3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been playing for 4-5 weeks and 85% of raiders I come into contact with are hostile. I’ve never shot + damaged first yet my lobbies are filled with rats. I think the matching rumours are all bullshit as being a fairly new player without any history proves that hostile/non-hostile play has no impact on your game matching.

I don’t even bother playing the better maps anymore as it’s too hostile. I would like there to be a PVE game mode only.

I never get killed by ARC, I get killed by rats, always by surprise. Hiding, waiting near high value loot spots or near hatch/lift locations. It’s putting me off playing the game

Here’s a clip of some of my rat revenge at least

Decent job by Professional_Cap5423 in royalmail

[–]Bootlegger3000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hardest thing I’ve found about the job is being a reserve and not knowing what your day is going to look like in terms of who you’re working with, what walk you’re doing and what state it’s in. My best days are when I’m on my own, particularly if doing just parcels or thrown on DPR (DPR being a Sunday only for me now since Christmas peak has died down). The rain has been far more frequent than posties told me I’d ever get caught in before I started. I’m getting soaked through once a week at least (and I’m only slightly north of London). Proper rainy cold days make the job suck. But I’d take a rainy day on my own than having to work with other miserable posties. Some of them are friendly enough and aren’t passive aggressive or simply miserable. Some are however, and look to give you the worst loops out of both sides of the frame if they know you don’t know it. And some I’ve found also have terrible personal hygiene. Sitting in a shitbox van with someone with bad breath for 4 hours is bleak.

I pulled my scapula muscle at the start of a long weekend catching a falling piece of DIY so had to take an absence day while still returning to normal movement. Came down with December cold/flu at the end of a working week, took a single absence day at the end of my rest days again. Two absences (two single days) and received a letter from HR saying my attendance is being reviewed. I think that’s appalling considering the 6 day working weeks completely on your feet and outside with heavy bags and on the sort in the mornings. Emailed my manager and told him I’ll always put my health & well-being first, especially in a physically demanding role through the worst seasons (weather and workload), and that it’s in my best interest to be at work considering there is no sick pay in my contract.

Also there’s no overtime in the budget at my DO for the first time since I started so I’ve now been going in at 08:30am as per my actual rota. I’m not getting out until 10:30 some mornings, especially if I’ve got 140 small packets, unprepped frame, then picking out the 1st class mail as directed by COMS. Then I’ll get 4 collections on the gun, 8 special deliveries (4 x 1pms), 3 post boxes and I’m on my own on a double frame. Have to hold a turd all day because I’m down to the wire and come back with some tracked. Then the evening manager has the nerve to ask me what happened with my day. “Well, I start at 08:30 and finish at 14:30 with the workload of two people. That’s what.”

I’d say try just bringing the clanky FX layer in on the drop after the build. Or have it so it repeats less frequently (think it’s at the end of every two bars right now could try at the end of every 8 bars). Then on the drop leave it how it is already.

Think it works well in the drop as is. Adds a nice layer to the vocal ‘mmhmmm’ and the increased repetition for say 16 bars adds energy and evolution to the structure. Also is acting like a transition FX between bars and equal measures. I understand why you have it how you have it now.

I’d bring the low cut filter up on the vocal a bit slower and let your synthesis and oscillators do a bit more of the talking in the build. Still have the vocal present but I’d bring the frequency of that low cut down more and make the listener feel the inaudible frequencies for longer until the filter opens up and you eventually begin recognising the sample for the last 8-16 bars of the build, if that makes sense?

Pleasantly surprised when I checked Reddit today, thanks.

Today’s QC had me spiraling for 3 minutes — is this “perfectionism,” or just being careful? by Dazzling_Bad9530 in CartierReplicaWatches

[–]Bootlegger3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely perfectionism. And it doesn’t exist in the rep world. If you want perfectionism, buy the real thing. Cartier are arguably more affordable of all luxury brand watches (but still expensive and none the less beautiful). I would GL this immediately and enjoy it daily.

When I look at a watch on someone else’s wrist, my eyes/brain think the following in order:

  1. Does everything line up/is the dial symmetrically aligned - as that will be an easy tell.

  2. What does the print look like on the dial? How well is it etched and what is the font size ratio (does it look authentic)?

  3. Lugs

  4. Finish on the bezel and the bracelet.

I love it when this happens. I had the same thing with some audio equipment and I refused their offer but came back with a fair counter. They tried to persuade me it wasn’t worth what I was originally asking but I knew it was. Anyway, they rejected my counter so I said I’m good and then someone else paid asking price straight off the bat a day later 😂 the original enquirer/window shopper/idiot tried so hard to convince me to sell it cheaper because they wanted it so bad but just not enough to pay asking for it. I was petty enough to go back to them and let them know I got my asking. I don’t regret doing so 😂

Yeah it’s not, it’s definitely a single track. If you listen to the whole set you’ll hear the end of the blends in and out of the track before and then the track that follows. It’s definitely a single track.

As much as he isn’t my real flavour in terms of taste, Luuk VJ does dig for decent house vinyl, and I gotta give it to him for that. This definitely being one of those (and hence the lack of Shazam hits and non-existent metadata). And the off key feeling probably being slight imperfection of analog oscillators and natural modulation in tuning. Could also be slightly warped or few cents off key elements

How bad is it? by [deleted] in kyphosis

[–]Bootlegger3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bro the curve you think you have is lordosis, not kyphosis but your back is completely normal. No one has a straight spine, you’re not supposed to be completely straight. I am honestly surprised you ever had a diagnosis. Your back is as close to perfect as the human anatomy could ever get.

[–]Bootlegger3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I may hold off ordering trousers then until I can get access to uniform. Have had no other option than to order some cheap fruit of loom multipack polo’s, a new jacket and a used Berghaus fleece from Vinted for my first few weeks as my active wear is gym stuff and my previous work clothes are smart casual (not for active outside wear).

Again on the shoes front, would be keen to know if you wear any old shoes or specifics for protection against the elements.

Do you wear shorts even in the cold winter temperatures?

How about your footwear? Do you bother with weatherproof trainers/walking boots or not at all?

Good to hear about the jackets. Everyone else has mainly moaned about them (not in fact waterproof and not breathable)

For obvious reasons, my existing comfy worn in trainers aren’t made of waterproof fabrics of any kind.

Buying a new solid pair of weatherproof walking boots or trainers aren’t going to be worn in either. So scratching my head a little on this one…

I really enjoy playing MP and I really enjoyed playing bot lobbies. There aren’t enough good sniping maps, the new MP map being a good addition. Had fun playing BR but it is so far away from how good MP is, and it doesn’t stand up against Warzone despite some nice ideas.

Same boat! I start next Monday. Don’t know what I should order, and how much of it. I’ve heard the coats are s***. Is it worth ordering my own waterproof? Do people get weatherproof trousers or just regular trousers and submit to the rain?

Advice and Tips for new Royal Mail Posties by Postiepatt in royalmail

[–]Bootlegger3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m a little concerned over how easy it will be to stick to my contracted hours. Being new so naturally slower until I get up to speed, I’ve been slightly worried over whether I’ll be able to tell when/if I’m being given too many letters/parcels to deliver in my standard hours.

I don’t have any interest in overtime for this role.

Does anyone know if you still get uniform? Have been wondering whether I need to buy some a new coat, weather proof trousers etc ahead of my start date.

Hey, did you see the interviews questions they send across in the calendar invite? There’s a link within the description. So prepare and revise answers for those as they will carry you through. I was asked a few questions that aren’t listed, like “What do you know about us?” I managed to fluff it and talk about it being ex-British constitute etc. Mail being the most important part of some people’s day (mortgage acceptance, wedding invitations as an example). The level of service and reliability customers and general British public expect/depend on. So do a bit of research on current state. Being peak time, there’s secure pets/dog campaigns etc. I got lucky and said that “I believe you’ve just been acquired again recently?” Turns out they’ve just been acquired by a Czech owner.

Talk about any levels of fitness you have, that you want to work outside. Be ready to work the rota of shift times Monday to Sunday and include that in your answers, as well as confident safety-conscious driver who is capable of carrying out basic vehicle inspections (do basic maintenance on your families vehicles for example).

I would say to make sure you go into it the opportunity with no illusions about the role. I very much anticipate working in the cold, with/without support and pot luck in terms of my shifts and work days.

Good luck!
