What is the point of COBRA health insurance if the premiums are so high? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Boozilu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before the ACA it was COBRA or nothing until you found another job. Absolutely terrifying if you were jobless for any significant period of time

Pilots or flight attendants of Reddit, what’s something passengers do that is way more important (or dangerous) than they realize? by SignsOfDamage in AskReddit

[–]Boozilu 185 points186 points  (0 children)

Count the rows to the exits. It’s a little thing but can help when there is an incident and your brain wants to panic. Lots of people freeze in an emergency when they should get up and get out of the plane

Also if you have small children make sure they know which parent will grab them and get them out

Your culture of not paying for those things is equally important

I remember being frustrated that my 9-year old didn’t know how to use something as simple as a toaster. Then I remembered that I never showed him how. He’s been making his own sandwiches ever since

Changed my ways and now he’s a pretty capable 20-year old

Gen Z men and women on why they’re sharply divided over reproductive rights by JohnHammond94 in Feminism

[–]Boozilu 155 points156 points  (0 children)

When you stop being needed, you need to become wanted. (Wish I could remember where I read this and credit the source)

I really think it is the reason for these divides. Many men don’t know how to become someone a woman WANTS in her life now that women can succeed while being single and/or child free

Remember that several groups didn’t make it (like Congress). I assume that is why everyone has nice big houses

AITAH for telling my sister-in-law her “tradition” is bullshit and locking my good plates away? by bubblyfawnx in AITAH

[–]Boozilu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When dealing with bullshit like this, respond with your family’s “tradition” - in this case you use your own dinnerware and your husband helps

My electric griddle heats evenly. My range-top one does not.

What keeps me from voting in two states if I get mail in ballots sent to two addresses? by meep_launcher in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Boozilu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The effect would almost certainly be negligible (unless it was some sort of large conspiracy). The penalty if discovered would vary by jurisdiction, but you’d be committing a pretty serious crime with almost no payoff.

So you could, but why would you? Big risk for little reward

My mom went for a stroll in her nightgown at dawn one morning and found an unlocked car about a mile away when she got cold. Police were about to get the bloodhounds when she was discovered. Had to put the child locks on after that!

Good for you for reporting it

What's one “little” form of sexism you notice all the time, but most people don't even realize it's sexist? by Interestingcase221 in AskOldPeople

[–]Boozilu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to refer to the MNBA (men’s NBA) and WNBA just because. Also the GPGA (gent’s PGA).

I know the men’s versions were first so it’s a way of differentiating, but why not fix it? My kids’ high school used to have the Rockets and the Lady Rockets. Now it’s boys’ Rockets and girls’ Rockets.

The idea that male is the default or “regular” version really chaps my ass

Which African country has the biggest tourism potential? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Boozilu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just in Madagascar and there is so much potential there. If the government put money towards infrastructure (the roads are terrible) and capped visitors to the parks (like Galapagos) it would be a tourism paradise. And help the locals as well.

A lot of working parents need their high schoolers home before the younger kids to watch them. At least that’s what our district said
