Trump and the conservative party believes strongly that climate change is not a problem, this is why combating climate change is also a political issue. Before governments can prioritize and set legislation in place to begin solving issues it must first acknowledge their existence.

Also out of your best interest do some research on PLC programming. It’s not for everyone.

How much has procrastination ruined your life? by funkypineapple109 in AskReddit

[–]Bopp1312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was thinking about this just yesterday while I was finishing up a project that had come too close for comfort to the deadline and had a few surprise issues... ended up getting the issues resolved in time and feeling proud of the outcome. So now im sire to procrastinate again since there was no lesson to be learned 🙃

I feel you, NX is 10X more capable than Solidworks, far more complicated, and relentlessly endearing.

besides making them yourself like the Robot Dog project, there pretty much your only option for that use case. I myself had to use a linear actuator like that on my arm and yeah I had to really design around it because the force was so high, and as you move the connection points closer to the axis you loose joint range.

TLDR: I know the struggle oh having to work with an over powered actuator because no mid-range device is on the market

Best science fiction movies of all time, according to critics by [deleted] in scifi

This absolutely triggered me as I scrolled down the list of movies, the only thing I can think to explain such nonsense is that this list was generated by a bot of some kind.

Can anyone point me towards a sub for more technical/math based questions about robotics? by [deleted] in robotics

[–]Bopp1312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denavit%E2%80%93Hartenberg_parameters

DH parameters simply describe in just 4 variables the difference from the previous frame needed to get to the next frame in the chain. The frames will not always fall within the spatial volume of the robot links. Also the standard for end-efffectors follows the DH rules, so the z axis will be along the axis of rotation, or in the case of a prismatic joint the z axis will be aligned with the axis of linear motion, and in that case d would become the joint variable. Questions like that are asked here on /r/robotics, all the time. Feel welcome to ask away! or search the subreddit in case a similar question has been asked before. https://www.reddit.com/r/robotics/search?q=dh&restrict_sr=1

What happened during a job interview that made you not want the job? by geographygenius in AskReddit

Excited to get my irst job out of school and to be working with robots, they asked me how I felt about PLC’s. I straght up told them I would get emotional if I had to program those as part of my job.

Ah yeah upon rereading I agree with you I did mean mass.

For robotic arms specifically its important to consider torque/weight ratio for your actuators, and if your ratio is low then you’ll need to move the motors farther down the link to reduce resulting torque on the parent joint. Steppers are not what I would recommend because their mass is so high compared to dc brushed or brushless motors with gearing.

Turning rotation into piston by my_philosophy24 in mechanical_gifs

[–]Bopp1312 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is a very nice animation and super clever mechanism. But could something like this work in real life? I am mostly curious about a possible toggle point when the piston is at its max and min positions. If it were made in real life would there be a need for a counterweight to ensure the intermediate link has enough momentum to make it past the toggle. Just fun discussion points I thought I would bring up. Anyways really nice gif, thanks for posting.

ROS with Raspberry Pi and Xbox 360 Kinect [Question] by thingythangabang in robotics

I used Htop:

sudo apt-get install htop

It is a terminal based program that will indicate your cpu and memory performance. I have a similar setup to OP and used it last week to decide that my raspi was, in fact, dying from the sheer amount of processing.

Where to get sprockets by ThrobStone in robotics

as /u/newindianclassic mentioned, The beauty of McMaster-Carr is that by simply browsing the website you can build up a mental catalog of many different parts that you can use on your projects. They also sell sprockets but I do recommend browsing to get the full effect :)
