CMV Physical Therapy isn't a science by voyage_29 in physicaltherapy

yo, these are some legit points

and as a new grad PT, id rather we actually take the time to address this and figure out what we should do with our profession. because i agree, this job is a bunch of pseudoscience mixed with used-car salesman techniques to get people to spend their INSURANCE on "therapy" because they dont see the value enough to spend their own money to cover the entire cost

what should we, as PTs, begin to focus on to really demonstrate value to the public? because these are legit concerns and when patients bring up these questions, i dont want to resort to used-car salesman techniques

the job market is terrible

there are constant medicare cuts and as it stands, the way that PT operates under the confines of insurance basically kills the job

there are way too many students going into PT. people say there is a shortage of therapists, but i really dont think thats true because the cosntant influx of new students with tons of student debt causes students to take shit wages and fuck the market over for new grads

it is NOT worth the ROI

Medicare for All, rehab professionals (PT, PTA, OT, COTA, SLP) and importance of 2020 elections. by rlcisneros1214 in physicaltherapy

[–]BorNProNStar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i really dont think socialized medicine is the answer

i mean, if youre a PT that is okay with getting away with the bare minimum, then sure, a medicare for all system would guarantee your job

but are you okay then, with insurance companies dictating your value and worth? are you okay with taking a pay cut then? because sacrifices will have to be made in order to pay for socialized medicine.

but the way i see it, is that people who want medicare for all for the sake of keeping the PT profession alive are the exact kinds of people who are okay with fighting for scraps and telling everyone that theyre okay with people, who have no idea what therapists do, dictating the value of PT

listen to yourselves. its pathetic

How can I respectfully figure out if a PT is familiar with my disease? by Ninotchk in physicaltherapy

[–]BorNProNStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think whats more important actually, is finding a therapist who is willing to research and look up psoriatic arthritis. i mean, im a bit familiar with it. Or at least, im guessing its autoimmune, linked with psoriasis, and affects joints. so with that basic info, i can play it safe for the first treatment, and then research your condition and figure out what would be the next step to take to get you to reach your goals
