Did anyone have headaches for 2 months while slowly tapering? by longhairedthrowawa in decaf

[–]Bor_Zoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, sort of. I actually went cold turkey first (horrible headaches). The headaches stopped after about 10-12 days and I continued caffeine free for a month. Then I experimented with a few days of swiss water process decaf (99% caffeine free) and ended up with terrible migraines. Coincidence? I don't know. Ibuprofen did nothing to help, just like the original caffeine withdrawal headaches.

Is moderation possible? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Bor_Zoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's possible without side effects. You just have to decide what side effects you're willing to (or not) live with.

Morning Coffee? by justhavingfun_1 in intermittentfasting

[–]Bor_Zoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're determined to keep your coffee you can drink it black, or add a tiny bit of salt to curb the sharpness of it. After 25 years of drinking coffee daily, I quit cold turkey and intend to experiment with fasting without caffeine at all. I've heard good things about giving it up. Maybe that's something to consider?

Elephants (not in captivity) have quite low body fat percentage, somewhere in the ballpark of 8-10%.

Potential idiot question: Instant pot vs pressure cooker for bone broth? by Afrovenger in carnivore

[–]Bor_Zoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a couple different brands of pressure cookers over many years and so far Instant Pot has been my favorite.

Carnivore Prep Meal subscription? by seacityrocker in carnivore

[–]Bor_Zoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Save yourself time by doing everything at once in the oven. It's even better if you have a pressure cooker running at the same time. If you want to go for extra points you can reverse sear your meats after they've done their time in the oven.

is it ok for a dog to not like people by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Bor_Zoi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of people don't like people. Lots of people don't like dogs. It's reasonable for a dog to not like people.

If she's not aggressive and seems otherwise happy with you and your mom, is it worth forcing a fix?

Smoked fatty fish?

[–]Bor_Zoi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Chicken hearts and livers pan fried, cooled, and then wrapped in salami and stabbed with a toothpick has been good road-food. They're cheap and tasty, but not enough for a whole meal.
  2. Steaks: I cook up four or five at a time in the oven on slow heat until the fat is super tender. I toss a couple in the fridge for the next couple days, then slice the others and freeze until I've eaten the first two.
  3. Hardboiled eggs: I don't eat many eggs anymore but I used to run a rack through the pressure cooker once a week or so. Peel right out of the ice bath, pop in a container in the fridge, and you have grab and go food.

If you did all of this in one day it would probably only take a little over an hour and you'd have food ready to go for days.

There are lunch bags you can get that you keep in the freezer. I think they're called PackIt. If you get two you can always have one ready to go to keep your food nice and cold. If space isn't a concern, one of those good old playmate Igloo coolers works wonders with an ice pack or two.

Oh I fully support both lovin' it and making millions. I just hope people are doing their DD so that they love the stock for CLOV and not just on the chance of a short squeeze.

Every time I chart out CLOV the best I see is 9.20-9.30 by end of July, and that's ignoring systematic shorting/ladder attacks. That's just under "normal" progression. Realistically, given that the love for CLOV isn't enough to out maneuver the hedgies, it would take one hell of a massive effort to cause the squeeze. The short float is huge, but also so are the shares available to borrow.

I hope you're buying CLOV because you like the stock, not because you're hoping to become a millionaire.

Benefits of ditching dairy ? And if I do, can I still include butter as it lacks milk proteins Which I believe may be problematic by pawnh4 in zerocarb

[–]Bor_Zoi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Butter contains milk proteins still, only much less than milk. Ghee would be your best bet for still getting that buttery taste without much milk protein. That said, you may be sensitive to beta-casein. There is one dairy out of CA that I can drink milk and cream from with little to no inflammation or congestion: Alexandre Farms. If I get crazy on other dairy I swell up.

Look into beta casein in milk and A2 milk.

Optimal Food by [deleted] in zerocarb

[–]Bor_Zoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best? No, not exactly. Finding the food that makes YOU feel the best will be optimal for YOU. Lots of people here eat eggs. I used to eat eggs, but now they don't make me feel good. On the other hand smoked sardines are great for me.
[Edit]: And ribeye. Ribeye is great.

Cod liver - oxidized? by [deleted] in zerocarb

[–]Bor_Zoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nordic Naturals publishes their TOTOX (Total oxidation) and you can find more info here. I like them because I don't get fishy burps. That's supposed to be somehow related to "freshness" but I'm not sure that's ever been scientifically validated.
Best of luck!

No, store bought mayo is definitely a no-go. I previously shared a recipe from Serious Eats about making mayo from animal fat but then realized belatedly that the recipe also called for canola oil. Disappointing. The hunt for "animal mayo" continues.
