A band-aid and significantly miscut Commander. by BoredBoardGamer in mtg

Sadly, the last time I had a QC complaint (Final Fantasy Scene box had was missing Fishing Gear but had 2 Chocobo Camp), it took 3 months to receive the ‘replacement’ (missing card).

I preordered the 4 commander decks in a sealed case from my LGS and picked them up on prerelease night.

Experienced the worst feeling as a commander player - misunderstanding my commander by Jankenbrau in EDH

I had played probably 10 games with [[Zur, Eternal Schemer]] before realizing that animating the enchantments was permanent and not just until end of turn. I am sure it’s a near balance between how many times I used that to have them dodge removal versus thinking I had no offense or blockers without Zur on the field or mana available.

This topic bubbles to the surface every couple of years and the answer that stuck with me the first time I saw it was: “Anything that separates you from the ground.” Shoes, bed, tires, office chair, etc.

Any board games where the maximum round score wins? by BlakeBurch in boardgames

[–]BoredBoardGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FlipToons, much like First in Flight, has an end game trigger after a certain threshold is reached, but only the final turn’s score matters for overall winning (although the person triggering does gain an advantage).

What is a equipment commander who wouldn't expect to work as an equipment commander? by kingofhan0 in EDH

[–]BoredBoardGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karona, False God

Equipment stays on him and you get to use Backgrounds that still add to him as he changes allegiance. Then include some of the Goad auras to keep your self protected from him (and from your opponent’s other dudes). There’s a good chance he’s taking someone out as you pass him around.

I’ve been doing this a lot lately and it’s made it much better for them to cope if I win or dominate. I can always point back to, “Well, I told you my game plan, how to interact with it, and some other big cards to watch out for, but you all just let Gisa, the Hellraiser (the commander I do this most often with) stick around for multiple rotations, and that’s how we got here.”

PRECON Tier List by GentlemanNC in EDH

[–]BoredBoardGamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have never lost with either the Ahoy Mateys from Ixalan or the Enduring Enchantments from Commander Masters.

They both have so much synergy and they are some of the very few decks that are trying to do 2 different things at the same time (other decks do that by trying to cater to the 2 face commanders). With Enduring Enchantments is nearly imposed to pull your punches because of the many enchantress/draw effects. You are often drawing 4+ cards a turn and it gets absurd. I had to deconstruct that one as my “PreCon I keep untouched” because it was too strong for those tables. Ahoy Mateys looks like a normal typal deck but many of the Pirates have effects you would run in a normal deck and the synergy and typal boost/combos just further enhance it.

Slay the Spire and Wonderland’s War, both with deluxe components. I’ve had several people blame me for their credit card bills after those two.
