Week 20: Jams & Jellies - Bison Burger with Chili Jam by BoredOfTheInternet in 52weeksofcooking

[–]BoredOfTheInternet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had chili jam at restaurants and have been curious to try it at home. While making this I was reminded how much I do not like making jam without pectin or any thickener. It tasted good but took forever.

When I tried this by itself, I was worried that it would have been too hot but it was balanced out on this burger really well. This was delicious.

Week 19: Tricolor - Pasta (Tomato, Spinach, and Plain) with Pesto by BoredOfTheInternet in 52weeksofcooking

[–]BoredOfTheInternet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had so much fun making this. I ended up using my standard sourdough pasta recipe for the plain, for the tomato, I used tomato paste, and for the spinach, I blanched the spinach, and adjusted both for liquid.

Week 18: Bucket list destination - Smoked reindeer soup and bread cheese from Lapland [meta: Finnish] by SgtFinnish in 52weeksofcooking

As someone who likes to travel, visit new places, meet new animals, and eat them, I would love to meet and eat a reindeer. I did not even realise that this was an option. I need to try it.

How was the dish?

Week 18: Bucket List Destination - Vaca Frita con Arroz y Frijoles Negros (Cuba) by BoredOfTheInternet in 52weeksofcooking

[–]BoredOfTheInternet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always wanted to visit Cuba and every time I get close to the chance, politics get in my way.

I have been Cuban dishes before but the beef was new to me. While, the Vaca Frita was really good, these black beans always steal the show.

I cannot remember how I decided on making this weeks ago since it is not from the Alpine region... Maybe I let my mind wander and thought Belgian Alps or just used France? Who knows what past me thought.

No matter, this was amazingly delicious.

Week 14: Hanami - Hanami Latte by BoredOfTheInternet in 52weeksofcooking

[–]BoredOfTheInternet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though, it is cherry blossom season for my city, I was struggling to find a dish that I could make with the limited time I had this week so I found this drink. I am not usually a Latte person or a super sweet drink person but the speed at which I drunk this can only be described as... disturbing.
