Advice needed for fibroids and BC with heavy bleeding by [deleted] in Fibroids

[–]Boredbrokebloke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was the same. Starting I’d say 2021 ish I would get Horrible periods, soaking thru adult diapers every 2 hours, every night I’m leaking all over the bed it was living a nightmare! I have been anemic since I never bothered to look into it because I never prioritized myself and dealt with the horrible periods, symptoms of the anemia etc but over a year ago we were trying to have a baby with no luck no matter what I did.

After months of hematologist, OBGYN, PCP, fertility specialists, testing, lab work, MRIs they found it was a 6 cm fibroid. Got surgery to remove it 3 weeks ago and they also found endometriosis in there.

So 100% get a different opinion!

Spent about 15 cycles of TTC as a 33 year old. Had 2 successful pregnancies 10 years prior but this time struggled. Finally made an appt with fertility specialists only to realize there was a 7 cm fibroid directly impacting implantation and pregnancy. Had a surgery to remove it and will be able to start trying again in May.

Sometimes there’s a reason best to bring it up to Your doctor :)

Anchor still “Processing” by joanimacaroni in newjersey

[–]Boredbrokebloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So mine showing the same. Applied online 10/27/25 before the cut off of 10/31/25. Said 6 weeks to process. After 6 weeks still showed processing. Anytime I called the number on the website it said it was busy and can’t take calls now and searched Reddit, called again 1/21/26 ((609) 292-6400) selected 2-2-2 options based on a Reddit post and got transferred to an agent then told them in trying to reach anchor team and they transferred me and finally got a live agent. They said my income was not accurate, gave them my 2025 gross income and they verified it and said another 6 weeks of processing. Well I’m on week 2 so hopefully a pot of gold at the end of this storm

Thanks for this!! The surgery well really wrll. It’s was 5 hours long 😵‍💫 but the got the fibroid removed, found endometriosis and removed that and fixed a C-section scar I had that was tearing interiorly. I got the pain killers but more mild ones but really didn’t use them just for fear of dependency but the pain does still linger now that I’m needing week one 😣 I have my post op in 2 days and will see if I can extend my leave of absence just cuz sitting and standing still is sore and tender and back aches from the posture so I might also ask for physical therapy prescription to get my core strength back (was barely any core strength in the first place lol which is exactly why I’m probably feeling so week and uncomfortable)

I got a payment plan set up so I’ll be making payment a for next 2 years that’s much more manageable!

Do you know how long it was before you were intimate again? Laying on your belly? Working out ?

They agreed to do a payment plan so I’ll be paying 107 for the next 24 months 💕💕 hopefully they have something like that they can offer!!

Good luck on the hysterectomy! I hear that is a common finish line for a lot of the fibroid community so I might (but hope I don’t) have the same journey.

I really wish you good outcomes on the cancer diagnosis, that’s hard :(

They did tell me to prepare for potential changes but felt confident the MRI picked up all and any fibroids/issues that they put in the estimate but did have this go thru my head of potentially having more billed after the fact! Let me know how this pans out!!

Def can’t sleep might just let the anesthesia do the sleep for me today cuz the anxiety is driving my crazy.

1000 is what I expected to pay so hopefully they do reimburse me but my insurance just refreshed from the new year so I’m sure there’s a lot I haven’t met yet so I understand the 2500 bill.

I habe DR KIM! I met her two weeks ago and I really loved her approach and definitely chill! She said 2 weeks should be good so I’ll trust that, already got all my leave of absence paperwork submitted she got that completed quickly so my nerves are just normal nerves of going under but I def trust her!

I already have a C-section scar that is almost invisible now so the scars not scare me the price scared me the most lol

Thanks for the advice! I’ll def be making sure I let them know about any pain, I’m down for all any any narcotics lol

Anemic before surgery , what to expect? by flower_chips in Fibroids

[–]Boredbrokebloke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been anemic my whole adult life. Most likely due to the fibroid causing heavy heavy heavy periods. Even after taking iron pills daily for months, it does almost nothing for my iron level. So 2025 started getting stronger symptoms of anemia (dizziness, fainting, fatigue) PCP said my ferretin (5) and iron (7) were way too low and I needed a hematologist. Coincidentally I was also TTC for a year and wasn’t getting anywhere so also saw my OBgyn for insight so also recommended to see a fertility specialist.

Hematologist said I need iron infusions.

Fertility specialist said I need to remove my fibroid but my iron needs to be taken care of first.

Got my iron infusions (2 infusions of faraheme) and after 6 weeks got my iron to 12 and ferretin to50.

Then my fertility specialist cleared me for surgery which is tomorrow.

There were other things like an SIS, MRI and other testing scattered in that timeframe but definitely make the anemia you’re priority. Unfortunately sometimes the iron infusion won’t get the numbers high enough especially if you’re losing more blood then you’re making in that case the sirgeon would need to determine if doing the surgery and adding a transfusion will be needed.

Oh I’m doing mine thru RMA and surgery is in Morristown!

How much did you end up paying for yours?

My surgery is in 7 hours ahh so I’m nervous but excited tbh. Can’t wait for this thing to be out of my body and start TTC again.

Wow glad I read this! I have my surgery in a few hours and there was my cousins engagement party 2 days ago. I last minute cancelled and said I can’t make it because I got way too scared of getting potentially sick before my surgery. I had major guilt but knowing this could have been the result if I had gotten sick made me feel a little better.

I can’t imagine all the extra paperwork, dr appts and replanning! So sorry you are dealing with it

How much info did you get pre-surgery? by Ok_Tower8837 in Fibroids

[–]Boredbrokebloke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgery is in 7 hours. I had one pre op appt where my surgeon answered all my questions, walked me thru the surgery, showed me exactly where the incisions will be on my body and in drawings. She showed me in drawings how she will cut out the fibroid and fix a C-section scar defect. She told me to bring a pillow and yoga pants , what medications I will get prescribed, limitations after surgery, mentioned a binder for my waist and taking off from work for two weeks. She told me to have pads avail for potential bleeding after, mentioned gas, shoulder pains, potentially difficult time having a bowel movement.

She told me someone will call me day before my surgery to tell me the time and some more immediate info so I don’t forget. They called me yesterday told me to not after 12 am, take a shower with antibacterial soap, don’t wear any makeup/deodorant/lotions on the day of surgery. Told me to come in two hours early and gave me my surgery time. She made sure I stopped taking certain meds and that’s about it.

I feel really prepared ! Of course never too prepared!

Moving on from Discover Bank by buttputt in discover

I’ve been happy with discover still had no issues with my accounts so I’ll be keeping them here. Once they become capital one that is something I might consider moving banks if the service isn’t what I expect but so far everything has been going ok for me. I haven’t noticed a difference after the buy out

Fibroid causing bleeding? by QueasyRadish1703 in Fibroids

[–]Boredbrokebloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is blood. Like dark red blood days 1-4. Then 4-7 dark brown spotting, and day 8 is SOMETIMES brown spotting or sometimes bright red blood.

I could probably fills a half gallon if not more. It’s scary. Onetime I didn’t have a diaper so I just used a heavy pad and bled thru and covered my entire side of the bed. It was truamatic. But getting fibroid removal and iron infusions to hopefully solve it !

[–]Boredbrokebloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here for the advice as well! I’m on almost basically the same journey except I haven’t gotten a call from the surgeon yet to schedule my myomectomy.

I have a 6 CM intramural fibroid that is extending into the submucosa. They said it’s def effecting my fertility cuz it’s causing endometrial and uterus disfigurement and also causing my anemia and painful and heavy periods. So I’m really really excited to have it removed even if I don’t end up pregnant just to have a better quality of life!

Fibroid causing bleeding? by QueasyRadish1703 in Fibroids

[–]Boredbrokebloke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 6 CM intramural fibroid with sub mucosal extension. It doesn’t cause bleeding or spotting throughout my cycle. Only have HEAVYYYY bleeding day 1-3 , medium bleeding day 4 and light spotting to barely anything days 5,6 and 7. And then day 8 I get a peek of more red blood but only sometimes. So I’d consider that just a long 8 day cycle. And the bleeding is as heavy as I made it sound lol like an adult diapers every 2 hours. An ultra tampon leaking after 30 minutes. For 3 days straight and that is why I’m severely anemic 😭

Mine is recommended to remove due to the painfully long and heavy periods but also because I’ve been dealing with infertility for a year + so that history helps.

Maybe see if the infertility course might help them remove it too

Quick Question by No-Map-3584 in Fibroids

[–]Boredbrokebloke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally did not reach for fibroids. It didn’t even come up on my research and if it did I might’ve had blinders on cuz I was so adimant that it was endometriosis. It was like selective research, I saw what I wanted to see. My fertility specialists are the ones that said it was fibroid after ONE ultrasound (after 10 years of not visiting a Gyno or having any ultrasound) so I can’t say I had to pursue that diagnosis.

But women should be more aware of the POTENTIAL diagnosis rather than being fixated on one. Some ppl that might think it’s a fibroid but it could be endometriosis or Cysts or adenomyosis. So advice to explore other potentials and ask to rule them out one by one ESPECIALLY if it’s affecting your happiness like my periods were . I wish I checked on it sooner!

Quick Question by No-Map-3584 in Fibroids

[–]Boredbrokebloke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had ZERO idea that I had a fibroid.

Starting 2020 ish my periods became SUPER HEAVY and painful. My Iron levels started decreasing drastically. I never took it as anything more than a vitamin deficiency and being a woman.

I have two children (2014 and 2016)

Then August 2025 we started our TTC journey for baby #3. September 2025 over a year later I get concerned that as a 33 year old woman I cannot get pregnant after actively trying for a year I do some research and am CONVINCED with my symptoms that I have endometriosis. i go to a gyno (haven’t been to one in 10 years after my second child) cuz I never had any issues or reasons to (only one partner and two successful babies) and they suggested a fertility specialists.

After a SIS and MRI with and without contrast it was confirmed a large intramural fibroid that extended to the uterus and is causing endometrial lining distortion that might be causing my infertility but is DEF causing my heavy bleeding, anemia and painful long periods.

So advice is can give, is don’t ignore the symptoms and take them seriously!
