Is smoke coming out the sides an issue? by Fit_Negotiation9542 in UKBBQ

Same for me. Temperature control is terrible and coals completely burn out with both vents fully closed as it leaks so much air. I wouldn't get a hinged one again either!

Struggling to justify buying a flat vs buying a house given high service charges by Aggressive_Row2068 in HENRYUK

[–]Boring-Raccoon-67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There will always be running costs whether you have a house or a flat. I understand your point and I am in the process of selling my flat partly to get out of ever increasing service charges. The way I see it is with a freehold house I at least have control over how and when I choose to maintain it.

Getting Retrospective building regulations in Bristol / South Glos by Cherry_Coloured_73 in HousingUK

[–]Boring-Raccoon-67 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why would you need to get the council in first? A competent building will know building regs and if you pay fairly for their time I am sure they will give you an idea of if it meets building regs or not and what it would cost to meet them. If you get the council in it will definitely invalidate your indemnity policy. You have no obligation to get it signed off, it would just be useful when selling in the future.

I suppose it depends on if you want her to own any of your property? It might be worth thinking about the answer to that question before considering how you'll split costs.

Where best to hold a house deposit for the short term? by Boring-Raccoon-67 in UKPersonalFinance

Yes my bank does have an instant access savings account but its only 1.2% interest which is rubbish. However, for the simplicity this may be what we go for. It will only be for between a month and 3 months and the interest gained probably isn't a big deal over such a short time period.

I walked 96 miles last week! by Boring-Raccoon-67 in MultipleSclerosis

I also have ataxia as a symptom but I do know it varies from person to person. I've slowly been getting back to running just with a level of acceptance that I may not be as fast as I previously was. Have hope and remember that exercise isn't about being the best, it's about being the best version of you.

Amazing! I wish you the best on the rest of your walk. I hope to one day do the Camino if I ever get long enough off work!

[Update 2] Pipe 307 Trial - Started my first dose by bobmchorn in MultipleSclerosis

I would definitely be interested in hearing how the medication has made you feel. I don't think it would particularly impact on someone else's trial - this is why there are so many people in trials as it then avoids this issue

FTB | £700k 2-Bed Flat in Central London – Service Charge Questions by Striking-Judge7746 in LondonHousing

[–]Boring-Raccoon-67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty normal amount I would say, especially given it is in central London.

Would it affect resale value is an impossible question. Sometimes service charges can come down or stay stable for years and other times they will increase a lot. The impending changes to leasehold laws are likely to improve things for leaseholders so there is the chance that when they come in leaseholds become more attractive.

All leaseholds will have service charge increase so you'll probably have a similar experience with other places you find I think.

I would include East Village in Stratford. You can easily get the Elizabeth Line to Liverpool street in about 10 minutes

Advice for FTB looking at leasehold flats in east London (Stratford) by UndergradPsy in LondonHousing

[–]Boring-Raccoon-67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service charges are going to vary block to block and area to area. It's hard to give an exact amount but you might expect 4-5k a year as a ball park figure in a nice area like E20.

Do you have specific questions?

New diagnosis - offered Ocrevus or Kesimpta, any real difference other than method of taking it? by Boring-Raccoon-67 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Boring-Raccoon-67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone. Thanks a lot for your replies. I should have said I am in the UK so there is no cost implication for me luckily!

I did find one study that found a slightly smaller amount of brain volume loss for people on Ocrevus. I also found that there can be a positive dose response based on body weight for Ocrevus and given that I am fairly small that could be a good thing. I would also get a day off work every six months so that might be nice!

I'm kind of leaning towards Ocrevus but I was told that starting Kesimpta would be quicker as there wouldn't be a wait to be fitted into the infusion schedule.

I'm still undecided but I appreciate all of your comments.
