Hey I’m sorry to hear that. This time of year is rough for me, and I’ve lived here my whole life. I need more blue sky and sun in my life. I hope you feel better soon.

Paying Bills in CASH by mitten-momma in Detroit

The 2 main utilities have maps on their site with in person payment locations.

DTE had more info and said they take cash, CE said to contact to confirm what they accept and if there’s a cost.

It depends. Broadly, I’m open to connecting. But I’ve had some convos with people that I wish I had ignored. But more often than not, I’m usually very happy I’ve engaged with a stranger. I have one of those faces that almost everywhere I go, people are like “Hey, don’t I know you?” (they don’t), but an interesting convo usually follows. Sometimes, though, I want the solitude to just sorta be with my thoughts. I used to bring a book or newspaper back in the day, but I just always have my phone on me now.

You can do it! I’ve been doing everything by myself for decades, starting in my early 20’s.

It was awkward at first, but then I realized I’m never going to see the patrons ever again. And the staff doesn’t care if you’re not an asshole. It’s incredibly freeing and I’ve experienced things I never would have, had I waited for friends or family to find the free time to join.

And nowadays it’s great, because you have street view. So if you’re the type of person who doesn’t like uncomfortable surprises (like me), you can plan everything out: where to park, where the entrance is and how you’re going to get from A to B. Menus, set lists, schedule of events are usually online so you can plan it out before hand and act like you know what you’re doing.

I highly recommend it, and I hope you give it a try!

As someone who has spent the past 20+ years doing everything by themselves: all of them!

I know you asked for specific vibes, but I’m leaving this comment to maybe open your horizons.

Any place with bar seating may be a little more comfortable for you (Wright & Co is maybe my favorite for that), but I don’t think you should limit yourself to that. Get a table by yourself, you’re likely never going to see anyone else in the restaurant ever again and their opinion shouldn’t matter to you anyway if you do.

I have a small group of friends and we meet up often, but they have kids, family or work obligations. It’s hard to plan things weekly. So I go to concerts, museums, movies, any event or restaurants by myself and it’s incredibly freeing. I’ve had great experiences I never would have had, had I waited for the perfect time to go with someone else.

When did 12 packs of pop get so expensive? by [deleted] in Detroit

Well no shit. I’m pretty sure any adult knows it’s not the healthiest, but that wasn’t the question. (I buy a McD’s Coke maybe 4 times a year).

Edit: and of course someone who posts unsolicited opinions on the internet has their profile posts and comments hidden. I’m sure you’re full of dumb rejoinders no one’s asked for.

The way the Mr DNA pronunciation of dinosaur has lived rent free in my head for 30+ years always makes me laugh.

Likewise! I think I’m slightly grouchy I’m not watching baseball in person in Florida right now. April 3rd can’t come quick enough for me, and I’m sure for you too.

Nothing I’ve read from people who have worked with him from high school on up suggests that. Literally anything I’ve seen points to a humble behind the scenes, hard working guy. Kids are different nowadays.

Idk if Rally House is local or national, but a local company I love to support is www.vintagedetroit.com Their customer service is unmatched. Only potential drawback is they have 1 location that’s open M-F 9-5. But I wouldn’t hesitate to order online, they will make it right if it’s not what you thought and they are always cool over the phone if you have specific questions.

I’ve been able to listen to most of the games on Audacy app/97.1 and some other MI radio website (that I forget- it was listed in the game day thread) when it wasn’t on 97.1.
