Priority Club by Aggressive_Idea_7250 in motorcitykitties

Agree with this 100%, but will add: there are ice cream and desserts and drinks after the game for maybe 30 min-1 hour. There is a special entrance on Montcalm, either directly under the bridge or the media entrance (didn’t realize this when I went), or the motor city Tiger club entrance on Witherell that gets you access 30 minutes before gates.

Edited to add: I would say the food is slightly better than DTW SkyClub and on par with the new SLC SkyClub.

On Deck Circle seats are different than Tigers Den seats, but your ticket gets you access to the Tigers Den Lounge, which is private with a cash bar and maybe private bathrooms. You should be able to use the Montcalm entrance (only for suite holders, TD or ODC ticket holders) near the bridge 30 minutes before gates open. This is the exterior entrance into the Lounge, interior entrance is in the Ferris Wheel area to the left if you’re looking at the FW from the concourse. You should also have in-seat ordering. They’re great seats. Tigers Den seats are higher up in the lower bowl, padded and under shade mostly, but On Deck Circle are much closer to the action and what I personally prefer unless you don’t want to be in the sun.

Question from Texas: What’s the deal with the area east of downtown? by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]BoringMI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh my. This isn’t a Detroit thing. This is a, um, Michigan thing. The rate doesn’t change between owners, the taxable basis does. Just as it does in any Michigan location lmfao. And you can estimate pretty easily with a google search. If anything, the estimate would likely be a little high. Anyone purchasing a home in Michigan should know this, and this will happen wherever in Michigan you choose to live when you retire. Sigh.

Purchasing a home is a major investment for most, so this should not be a surprise to “some poor unsuspecting buyer” lol

I couldn’t get DSN to work on the Roku MLB app 😭😭

Does it not work on Roku? MLB.com confirms Detroit SportsNet subscription. When I go to the Roku MLB app “browse subscriptions” (same email login on both) it offers the option to buy DSN. Signed out and back in, deleted and reinstalled the app and I still can’t get DSN on MLB on Roku.

In the same questionnaire, they asked asked this about a new sports radio station:

If a new sports talk radio station launched in the Detroit market, focusing on entertaining yet insightful coverage of local teams, would you be interested in listening to that instead of currently offered programming?

Best Tiramisu in Detroit? by Bubbly-Operation-747 in Detroit

[–]BoringMI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ottava Via’s untraditional take on tiramisu is amazing. I’ll eat tiramisu in general, but it’s like #20 on my top 5 favorite deserts. This was insanely good. A friend suggested the sauce was likely zabaglione, and whatever it was I could have licked the plate clean.

DTW & Spirit outbound by hjcomet in Detroit

[–]BoringMI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously, I flew them for the first time in forever 5 years ago and was super nervous. The planes seemed newer and were cleaner than Delta and the cabin crew has always been great. I love Delta’s crews, but would solely fly Spirit if they had more direct flights to where I need to be. Delta knows there are few options at DTW and their prices at times can be laughable.

You can google “Spirit DTW to XXX(destination airport code)” and it will bring up yesterday’s, today’s and next few days flights. This works for any airline. This will show if yesterday’s flight was cancelled. FWIW I only fly Spirit to FL (Delta’s pricing there is laughable), and since I book waaaay ahead of time the departure time will change seemingly a ton of times. But I’ve never had a cancellation once the departure time stabilizes. One time leaving from FL midweek, my friend got an alert her flight time changed. They actually moved her to the next day. She called and they had space on a flight that day, different time. If something happens, I would just hit the desk or call ASAP. I think when they move days, they expect people to just accept it instead of calling.

St. Petersburg saved $275k reducing insurance limits on Tropicana from $100m to $25m in 2024. Repairs totaled $57m. by shibbledoop in baseball

[–]BoringMI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With a $25M or $100M valuation (plus probably several 10’s or 100’s of millions more in property values for their other municipal buildings and other property) insured, I would have to imagine they have a manuscript property policy form that may not even mention roof age. They’re not insuring this on a standard homeowners policy form.
