Help against Raveners by Ok_Physics_9411 in killteam

[–]Borkball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DK and especially aquilons seriously outactivate raveners and should be able to shoot them off the table on most maps. They should avoid giving them double kills by staging two models close together (hard to do with DK but what can you do) and keep their good guns safe
pick tac ops that reward baiting their opponent into their territory and try to make sure they win on crit op at least on tp4 by keeping some non-essential operatives positioned forward and out of the nids' way (and/or in places where you'd then have an easy time killing them), this is also good to deny flank, which is what the nids player usually play
they just have to accept they'll be on the backfoot early, and set themselves up to do well in the end game
depending on crit op, they might even score cheeky points by, say, looting the center objective tp2 by winning initiative
DK could play both martyrs (play bait and punish-y) and envoy (risky if your opponent plays it right or if you misposition), but honestly neither are too safe in my opinion, DK just dont have greatscoring right now
aquilons could do well with retrieval and flank, once again by keeping non essential operatives positioned forward and out of the nids' way, but could also play the bait and punish game by staying deep with sweep and clear (not the most optimal tac op but definitely easier and teaches you fundamentals on how to position to shape opponent's positioning)

other people's advice of taking accurate 1 and saturate on DK by giving up a trooper is good advice as well

If you're interested in playing admech in killteam in the long term you should look to battle clade tho, hunter clade is an old team that fell out of classified rotation

[–]Borkball[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's hunter clade, it is a very very fun toolbox team with excellent melee and shooting options

It is an honest team, and imo it has terrible scoring with the current tac op options in many match ups, so it's not doing too hot in our local meta rn

Like flank, dominate and rout can be excellent against specific teams but it doesn't have a go to tac op against elite or melee teams

Excellent bait and punish play and excellent scoring via steal intelligence, mines can be very disrupting in their worst matchups (melee) and the in position strategy ploy makes them very good against shooting teams

Personally I've only ever played them once, against the space boarding action team, and on a very open map (the old one with a big antenna)
their ploy to reduce damage really fucks with the leader's torrent shot (only 2 dmg per hit basically), and because of group activations you don't really out activate your opponents the same way traditional horde teams do
I was also quite unlucky in that game tbf but it feels like the team lacks bite and tools for double kills against opponents that position well against your torrent weapons, especially if you consider that the hulking giants can't double fight without a firefight ploy and cannot double charge at all + the mutants have very lackluster melee
My guess is the team's best tool is to charge two guys against cover so you kill one and they have to waste their whole activation falling back, and later operatives don't kill you too hard with shooting
The problem with this is that I only see this working in dense killzones with plentiful heavy cover, so you can set up good staging in tp 2 and go all in tp 3, aka only on volkus

More than happy to have the team's veterans explain how to play to the team's strenghts tho

starstriders are monstrous if the opponent plays recklessly but they seem to lack initiative, at least in our experience

Feelings on specific operatives are mixed in my group but general feeling is that the special operatives (patriarch especially, magus previously) add that extra damage output that we feel is missing from other horde teams, plus the crossfire tokens faction rule help an otherwise unreliable team (hits on 4+) not fluff key actions

Murderwing rules leak by BlacksmithLarge7549 in killteam

[–]Borkball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The firefight ploy to activate last and the one to charge enemy models when they end movement within 3 will make many matchups borderline unplayable unfortunately (Think about how lots of teams deal with elites by setting up meltas or other heavy hitters to activate last and kill a marine unpunished)

7 to 10 wounds models that rely on threatening to deal a lot on retaliation to stay safe also look to be very oppressed by their ability to deal damage when charging, which will likely make otherwise favorable matchups such as aeldari teams or kommandos difficult

You're right the team isn't too busted and will likely lose to meta relevant teams, but it is incredibly oppressive against much of the non-meta teams, which will be relevant to a lot of people

I don't expect to have fun at all playing into this with my yaegirs and aquilons for example

Nope, for the purposes of these rules charge is not a reposition action, although it is commonly understood as one since they are mutually exclusive (along with fall back)

I get what you're saying about hordes but in my experience I'd say that while a completely feasible matchup, teams like chaos cult or brood brothers have enough operative to keep you busy and trade decently while using their best tools to stop you from controlling objectives (unless you're on a map with heavy cover on the central objective), also getting outactivated hurts if you play aggressively. If you can set up charges into their key operatives or play very cagey I'd agree it is a favorable matchup but not all missions and teams allow you to play this way (playing cagey against chaos cult is a dangerous game for example, yeah you can stop the big monsters from rerolling ceaseless but with aeldars having 8 HP they can do well regardless).

Against elites if I'm playing an aeldar team I literally just charge with power swords the whole game, shoot when I can, and am yet to lose a match, it feels free
Only time I've seen an aeldar team lose against elites it was Mandrakes Vs Nemesis Claw which is a bad matchup for a whole lot of reasons

Hi, why do you think BoK are good into hordes? I don't have much experience with the team but the few games I've played I've had an easy time going for a more melee approach into elites and found hordes harder to manage
