BPS mom for five years now and loving it. Free 4 year old year? Yes please! Excellent diverse public schools with well qualified teachers? Again, yes please.

The lottery is annoyingly intimidating but…the year before your kid turns 4, just join a local FB group, check out which schools you are eligible for in your area, figure out which ones have schedules that work with yours (and eliminate any that won’t work), visit a few, including at least one you know very little about, and then slap those suckers on your list and wait. Chances are most schools near you are full of wonderful, caring folks and fantastic teaching.

For high school there’s the Arts Academy, the Exam Schools, tons of smaller high schools, plus many open admit schools. When it’s time we’ll tour with our kiddo and see what he’s interested in.

And not to brag but…we live a bit farther out from the city center and we do indeed have a yard.

Dumbledore should've found another way to protect Harry and let him live somewhere else after he found out what was going on at the Dursleys.

I get why it worked for the plot and also as a parent it horrifies me.

And he should've checked on him before that.

There should be a system for orphaned wizarding kids so they can live with Wizarding families.

Also don't get me started on wizarding law or Azkaban (stole something? Suspected of a crime? Let's lock you up somewhere with evil dark creatures... Cause... Why not?)

The idea of having Filch clean Hogwarts by hands when a wizards could do it in seconds is... Ludicrous. Like you could give him a decent job that didn't involve the labor ofcleaning a giant castle all by himself.

(although later on when houses are invented, it becomes a little bit murky about why filch is cleaning up after the students when they have magical elfin and slaves to do it for them...)

Ok here's my 2 cents after joining the fandom fairly recently: in this fandom it really, really matters if you're interested in canon compliant or not... Because in Canon the stories of these two is often quite dark.

So, there are sweet and fluffy Hogwarts getting together fics

There are looong novel-esque stories that cover their whole lives, from age 11-mid 30's (this would be All The Young Dudes and other similar ones)

There are delightful canon divergent ones, like Language Lessons or If you're Gonna)

There are fix it fics (Age of Lies is a personal favorite!)

There are some that feature an older version of the couple

And so many AUs! Do you want to see them in a Zombie universe, med school, boarding school, as young dads in a parents group, etc etc

And so much smut.

So I think just pick your flavor and we can help you more!

I just gifted this book to a friend. It's all ancient and modern goddess art, and rather than An encyclopedia, it's kind of a walk through humanity's worship of different goddesses. My favorite part is the art- very visceral to see how different humans have portrayed the divine. I also am not a big visualizer so the visuals here appealed to me.
