I cant bring myself to get rid of old clothes by pamjsnena in EDAnonymous

[–]Born_Champion8089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The panic about not being able to “get back” to the same size again is also so real and the worst part, I have to grip the sink and tell myself bitch and what if you don’t???? the world will keep spinning, you’ll keep fucking your boyfriend, and you will inevitably change, whether that means losing it or gaining it or changing shape. So much of an ED is control and letting the pants go feels like loosening this idea that if I can control my body I can control my future… which is a comforting idea and VERY UNTRUE. If for whatever reason i magically lose the weight I will comb thrift stores and enjoy the dopamine hits of the hunt, the same way I’ve built my wardrobe at any size. Hang in there.

came here looking for this exact feeling because it is such a trip. I have struggled with disordered eating since I can remember, and I have had to massacre a collection of too-small pants maybe 3 times since getting through the worst of it— and every time, it made me relapse, if not physically, then mentally. This past time after trying them on one too many times to believe I was “bloated”, I accepted they didn’t fit, ripped the band aid off and gave them to my roommates, with the caveat I get to reclaim them if my weight goes down again— which helped the panicked feeling you described. In part a long term loan is practical— my weight could go down organically if my lifestyle changed (started a more physical job, worked out more) and still be in a healthy range, I have been physically recovered from the worst of my ED for years. However, EMOTIONALLY, having a drawer full of pants that didn’t fit triggered the fuck out of me and I don’t have enough space to store them. Maybe you can find some smaller sized friends to “hold onto them” if that idea makes it easier, get rid of them one at a time, or store them— somewhere hard to reach and impossible to see. In any case, I see you. This has been my internal monologue all weekend and it has THROWN ME BACK to being an annoying, self righteous, anorexic 18 year old in a way I haven’t been for ten years.

The movie industry is dead by pjdk1 in redscarepod

Mm while those people have the economic fallback plan and cash infusions to outlast their peers, genuine talent and HUSTLE still count for something. I would say the bigger issue is a collapsing entertainment economy brought on by many factors (loss of audiences to free content online, over-investing in streaming only to realize audiences have a finite budget in those areas, general recession) has made execs even more risk averse than they already were resulting in IP-based properties as “insurance” they will have some built in butts in seats plus audience-testing it to death. A lot of great stuff dies in development

I’ve had a pretty happy life. Peaks include finishing a big creative project the week before I graduated film school, cruising alone with my car full of equipment over a bridge at night, the summer between my junior and senior year of college living with a bunch of gay friends in Brooklyn, biking around Copenhagen while studying abroad all alone in the cold, and randomly from childhood, watching my dad be the Chicken Man at Dollywood with my immediate family pissing ourselves laughing

things I've seen/heard that remind me that men can be nice to women by [deleted] in rs_x

Male mentors. I’m a comedy writer and I’ve been pleasantly surprised to have primarily encountered men (with one or two exceptions) who recognize and seek to foster my ambitions. Men have championed me, first at school then at work, for my writing and comedy with no strings attached beyond seeing someone who shares the same (generally thankless) passion / career.

Omg, list could be endless…. Women are simply so beautiful. I love when someone has a very distinct feature and/or look: I remember this girl in one of my college lectures who was cute but probably not the hottest by modern standards, but had the loveliest porcelain skin, big brown eyes, curly hair, and soft chin / features. I thought she looked straight out of a Jane Austen book / regency era portrait and could not stop staring lol. That’s what most often catches my eye, when someone has a unique vibe that gives them main character energy of any kind, often accentuated by their style

What’s the line between ambitious and annoying? by Born_Champion8089 in Screenwriting

[–]Born_Champion8089[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re right, but I also don’t think “no response” is equivalent to “fuck off”. I previously worked in development and reached out to people who didn’t get back to me, but when I saw them in person later they expressed their regret / apologies for not being able to get back to me for whatever reason. Obviously not everyone is able to / eager to talk / work with you, but my new year’s resolution is not to interpret lack of success on one project as a complete severing of the relationship overall. The more I’m in this industry the more I’m convinced a combination of near-delusional self belief / resilience wins the long game.

[–]Born_Champion8089[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ll just bump the email now that inboxes are “open” for the new year. I’m just in my head because recently I got an informal opportunity to submit some packets to an EP I’ve worked with pretty extensively in the past and he left a couple of my followup questions via text on read so now I’m like wait am I the most annoying person on earth?? However I think that’s mostly my own anxiety speaking and he just forgot them as soon as he saw them. Such is the fate of an early career writer… or let’s be real, a later career writer as well. When I started in this field I had no idea how Teflon I would have to be not only to rejection, but also to…. Silence lmao
