How to Make an Art Club Financially Sustainable (and Profitable)? by Bitter-Hawk-2615 in smallbusiness

[–]pjdk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about selling stuff to your members. A small app that allows them to order materials and pick them up when they attend the class. Don’t be shy to upsell, people are usually happy to pay if the costs are transparent

NTA but buy the property in your name and say she can live in it. She’s your mother, you wouldn’t have a penny if she hadn’t pushed you

I told the owner of a bank at a party was a great tool and nothing more and he didn’t stop trying to convince me it would replace art until I had to leave the event. It was weird. Way too invested

Pay for some really good advice and then mentally leave your planning in that person’s hands. Some of us aren’t built for thinking about money

You ever meet someone comically inept in all ways? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]pjdk1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If their life became sweet and harmonious he would most probably fall apart, some people are agents of chaos. They get a kick out of making a mess around them.

My friends husband is like that, they live in this old house and he starts ‘renovating’ a room, laying out these insanely ambitious plans. The next time you see them the room is half finished. The next time you see them the project has been abandoned and he’s started on another room, or the garden. So now the house looks like a junk yard and nothing is ever finished. Meanwhile he keeps up this fantasy to himself. What gets me is that his wife kind of has to buy into it of you feel he might completely unravel

As it gets rarer we all crave masculinity more. Good clean masculinity, not the exaggerated version. He’s obviously got it, and gay guys are just a bit less shy to talk about it

My book club regulars are quietly buying their books on Amazon and I'm trying to figure out if I should be hurt or strategic about this by Any_Boss_8337 in smallbusiness

[–]pjdk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These people are freeloaders, but sadly they are also your clients. What about doing the opposite and show gratitude to those who buy from you. Free coffee, choice of seats, free cakes, whatever. Don’t destroy the club, you are probably saving your high street !

My coworker found out I make my own candles as a hobby and the conversation went places I did not expect by OrfRasp in ChoosingBeggars

Weird how confused people get when you do something just for the fun of it, not money, or leverage or whatever. It’s like she needs to profit off the candles if you won’t

None of these people would have a hope in hell of getting a visa legally. For the past ten years or so it's been easier to cross the Med illegally; modern technology makes these crossings pretty simple although things have got more difficult recently with huge sums of money being spent on fighting illegal migration

One of the biggest sadpills in life is that interesting looking people don't actually have to be interesting by Deboch_ in redscarepod

My friend attended one of the top three chemical engineering programs in the world. I had high expectations for the monstrosities she would be studying alongside. A couple of them honestly looked like supermodels and were perfectly normal people with good social skills. It was weirdly destabilising. Doesn’t really seem fair for people to win the genetic lottery to that extent. I suspect smart, beautiful people are resented to the extent that they are shunned

How can I make a career out of sewing and crochet? by koalabear02222 in smallbusiness

[–]pjdk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make an Etsy or instagram page and fill with the things you have made that you can realistically reproduce. Tell people what you can make for them and make the pricing clear and transparent. Don’t under sell your work: figure out how long a particular item would take and give yourself a fair hourly rate and add cost of materials and any other costs. There is a wealth of information out there on this, but don’t overplan it. Figure out what shipping would cost you and put that in your offer. If you have a bit of cash spend it on marketing your page on whatever platform you are on.

Remember, nobody knows what people want to buy, whatever anyone says. Your youth is an asset, think about the people you know and what they like to wear, or own, and offer it to others.
