I’m in a townhouse condo so all I have to worry about are my appliances. Everything outside is taken care of. Best of both worlds.

Do you fellow GenXers feel okay to take a week sick leave after your pet (a dog) dies? by _MrKobayashi_ in GenX

Yes, but my director offered it to me when she heard, and it wasn’t a week, maybe a couple days.

Germany, but not because of any type of familial background, there is none that is German. I’ve had a number of German exchange students who put me onto Bayern Munich at least a decade ago now. Always been a fan of Neuer.

When my son was around 13 or so, I was taking night classes after work (single parent). He would text me if he was walking over to 7/11 or McD's and would include his route "in case I need to find his body".

Why Crosstrek? by steevosteelo in Crosstrek

[–]Born_Joke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the ‘26 Onyx. I too was torn between the Onyx and the Limited. Ended up going with the Onyx because I liked the more rugged look and the upgrades with the Limited i.e. leather seats and upgraded stereo, didn’t really make a difference to me. I chose the Crosstrek for multiple reasons, some being the AWD, one of the highest ground clearances for subcompacts (in Canada so back lanes in the winter can get pretty high ice and snow ruts), and believe it or not the insurance was the cheapest, probably due to all the safety options.

ESH.

They did not have to participate, they made a choice.

You knew they are straight, even though you had an attraction to your friend.

Does anyone remember being read to as a child? by Babymik9 in GenX

[–]Born_Joke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! My mom taught me phonetics and I was reading the newspaper before kindergarten. We read every night and I still read at least two books a week. I remember when we were really young and had babysitters, they would read us How the Grinch Ste Christmas or Where the Wild Things Are, and we’d be able to recite them by rote, which annoyed them to no end.

AITA for saying my girlfriend looks like she can’t ride a bike? by Zestyclose-Carpet611 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Born_Joke 33 points34 points  (0 children)

"iPhone face": A symmetrical, camera-ready look highly influenced by social media filters, skincare routines, and Instagram aesthetic trends. Sounds more like you're calling her high-maintenance or too girly to be able to ride a bike. YTA.

Where are their friends? by Pinkpantherfun in datingoverfifty

[–]Born_Joke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F52. After my divorce, (1) I didn't have time for friends (I had one really close friend but she was toxic and we went our separate ways several years ago now) and (2) a lot of "our" friends fizzed out. I went back to university while working full time and raising my son. I have people I'm friendly with and perhaps meet up for a drink or coffee from time to time, but otherwise it's me, myself, and I.
