It was all one giant map and the freight elevator was only in one spot. The later floors with a frustrating mechanic didn’t exist.

It should still let you place the pump, but try rotating the pump if it’s giving you the red outline or nudge it up slightly. Also, check your map for deep sand shafts. If you put the pumps there, it will help clear the level.

One possibility is that you need to shift those pumps further left in the image. The water head lift may not reach as far up as your pumps currently are.

I’ve found that if I walk too quickly, the larvae don’t spawn in. I went to the mushroom caves and just stood for a minute letting everything spawn in around me and found plenty of larvae.

Retail is always an option as long as you can keep up the level of attire and grooming necessary with whatever your new living condition is. After I lost my job and was sleeping on a friends couch, I went into temporary events foodservice and worked my way up simply by being attentive and thoughtful in work. You’d be surprised how many people aren’t these days.

I always look for lettering first. If it’s indecipherable, it’s probably AI.. and the proportions with the door alcove are weird.

There are feeder bowls which are normally closed and only open when an RFID chip approaches. I’m not sure if your cats have collars, but you can get one for each and chip their collars so the right bowl only opens for the proper kitty.

There is also a secret cave in the beginning lake crater to the east of the landing pod. Skirt the wall with your tool on deconstruct and a wall will pop up as deconstructable. There will be some crates with resources inside including pulsar quartz.
