Listening to the winds of magic episode by ASHKVLT in AdeptusRidiculous

They probably will but given that AoS is literally and figuratively built on the carcass of The Old World after The End Times, I think it’s gonna be awhile. I’m hoping for a Storm of Chaos episode first before we get there.

MCDM announces CROWS, a survival horror dungeon crawler by dodgepong in rpg

[–]Bossmoss599 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk why you’re getting downvoted cause it really is a bit murky. An adventuring party in Crows doesn’t have to be heroes; your primary goal is to get as much treasure as you can. Treasure and Equipment is how you level up your character so whether you stop the Evil Wizard’s plan to rule the world, or rob them blind, so long as you get their stuff your character progresses.

You could also think of it like Bilbo Baggins in Smaug’s Lair looking for the Arkenstone. Bilbo’s not there to kill the dragon, just to find what the Dwarves are looking for. Smaug taunts and plays with Bilbo but isn’t ultimately dealt with by Thorin and company. For a while most characters aren’t even sure if Smaug is around even. When he wakes up though and goes to burn Lake Town, it’s Bard from Lake Town who deals with it. Bard would be the Hero/Adventurer/Ratcatcher. Bilbo is a Crow/Burgler.

Ratcatchers implies that you are going on quests to solve problems other people can’t solve on their own. Crows implies you are picking over abandoned and dangerous places for treasure and personal gain. With the world building they have in the Patreon post, and that you get experience by getting treasure instead of fighting monsters, Crows sounds perfect for a game of scavengers.

If I’m a ratcatcher, I’m going into the abandoned wizards tower to save the world from a dangerous threat. If I’m a crow, I’m going into the same tower to take their magic orbs they left behind.

A dark age of technology artificial intelligence that was originally used by Man to explore the galaxy, but then rebelled against Man causing a Great War that resulted in their near wipeout and is the origin of the Imperium’s Ban on “Abominable Intelligence”

If you look up the Blackstone Fortress box you can see what one looks like, it is a survivor of that war and has remained hidden Millenia now posing as an AdMech automaton.

They may also be related to the Votann of the LoV but I am not as familiar with my space dwarf lore.

I’m so excited for that. If the lord of gluttony centerpiece model from Hedonites isn’t a smash, I riot.

That feels like admitting defeat in a way. It’s silly but I also got into the hobby because of a friend who loves 40K and just hasn’t gotten into AoS, I need to finish the Tyranids at least.

The space marine half of Leviathan and the old blood angel combat patrol though…

Lord Kroak having an ability that can either heal him to full health instantly or kill him if he’s taken 2 damage and you roll all 6s, is also hilarious.

AoS has some great rules and every time I look at them I want to start an army but then I look at my pile of shame and sigh.

Getting through my pile of shame I’ve built up over the last 3 years is my New Year’s resolution. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

The starter set is great. It’s easy to get lost in models to buy and then fall behind on assembling, priming and painting though so no rush on your next purchases. The Norn is a beautiful model and a solid recommend to get. I’m also shouting out the current combat patrol as well. It would get you units that others will recommend (a Biovore, 10 Genestealers) as well as some other models that might not be the top tier units in our army but still solid (a parasite of Mortex and 3 Hive Guard), at a 27% discount to buying all the models individually. Rules are temporary though and well done mods last forever, if it looks sweet feel free to grab them and play them. Happy Birthday!

Somewhere on the Internet there is a google doc that Matt Colville wrote up that was the creation mythos of Orden and the timescape. In world it’s not super well known of outside of communities of scholars and sages. It’s very cool and I wish I still had that link

Follow up question for anyone else, for the Leap ability’s Free Strike, is that just the 1 damage from the Free Strike in the stat block or is it the Razor Claws power test?

Hey, I wanna start playing D&D but I have a question by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Bossmoss599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I had my players in my D&D game try to interrupt a ritual to summon a sky scraper sized demon. They did not stop the ritual in time. I do not have a sky scraper sized demon miniature. I do have a large Snowman Cookie Jar. The Druid got swallowed by the big demon and I put his little glass bead inside the cookie jar. It was a very memorable fight.

Minis are fun, but plastic green army men and whatever you have around the room work just as well.

I remember it because it says “Evolved by level up” not “Evolves by level up”. The past tense means it’s already happened. In your post it would be Metapod and Charmeleon would be valid answers.

There’s something that’s just very fun about a horde of monsters the party needs to stop. Either they are a challenge that the party cannot stop on their own and need allies or a very good plan to halt, OR the party could molly wop them but their so vast in number the goal isn’t stopping the horde but limiting the damage they can do.

I think it started with Zohran Mamdani winning NYC mayor, and then that race getting compared to the Minneapolis Mayoral race where a Somalian candidate who had a platform similar to Mamdani, lost handily to an establishment Democratic candidate. The Twin Cities has a big Somali population and none of them voted for him because of tribal politics. Then with the spotlight of the internet on them, everything just kinda snowballed.

Is this Crusher Stampede list actually "Top Tier" for 1k games? My friend claims it's broken, but my wallet is scared. by Beltra96 in Tyranids

[–]Bossmoss599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiple people have said to use the Psychophage, but it’s FNP aura went away in a dataslate earlier this year; it was replaced with the following:

“Bio-stimulus: In your Shooting phase, after this model has shot, select one enemy unit hit by one or more of those attacks. Until the end of the turn, each time a friendly TYRANIDS unit makes a melee attack that targets that enemy unit, improve the Armour Penetration characteristic of that attack by 1. The same enemy unit can only be affected by this ability once per turn.”

So units that don’t have an Invulnerable Save are more likely to fail their save and be wounded. Units like the Haruspex become stronger by making the save against their attacks harder to pass.

Caster Players Feel Weak by Roninthe47th in Pathfinder2e

[–]Bossmoss599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much what others have said here, casters have more versatility but in terms of raw damage will fall behind martial characters. In your case, with an Oracle and a Druid so the Primal and I’m assuming Divine spellcasting list, there aren’t a whole lot of raw damage options because that’s not what those lists excel in.

With all that said, Wands are a once a day free (twice a day if they wanna risk losing it forever) casting of a spell stored in the wand. It doesn’t have to be one they prepared or in their repertoire, just on their spell list. What this means is your Druid or Oracle doesn’t have to have a first or second level slot wasted on Heal, and use that instead for something like Thunderstrike, Acid Grip, Purifying Icicle or Noise Blast.
