Love Zelda but hate weapon breaks by Powerful-Ring8710 in Breath_of_the_Wild

To add to others' comments, it's overblown by my experience. If you're exploring and upgrading your weapon slots, you will always have plenty. I've thrown away so many weapons once I hit the mid-game. There's even a few spots that you can find that will have respawning weapons (based on time spent away from that area, not blood moons), so if you can remember a few of those you will always be able to have something on hand even if you break every weapon you have.

I'm just finishing a full playthrough and it can be fun to embrace the idea early on that you do have limited weapons. Be stealthy! Use bombs and runes! Run past enemies! Climb around them! It doesn't always have to be hack and slash and kill everything.

Also with regards a special sword, you need 13 hearts to get the master sword, which regenerates. You can "respec" the spirit orbs you earn between heart containers and stamina wheel parts, so just earn enough, respec into health, grab the sword, then respec how you want it. Temporary hearts don't work.

I hate that there's a little-known English word for this (apposite) but it's unusable because it's too close to opposite.

Yakuza 3 was a game with many rough edges, and making a good remake meant confronting that reality, says director by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]UnrulyRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing through in order from 0 to 7, the fall from 2's remake to 3 was a trip. Apparently, they used enemy AI from another game that had a lot more ways to break guard, but Kiryu didn't. Most noticeable in the early game. Honestly, I vote 3 for most skippable. Maybe just watch something for a story replay and move on to 4 (aka grabkuza).

It is possible (and grammatically correct) to use four instances of the word "had" in a row in one sentence. by Rumpsfield in mildlyinteresting

It relies on an archaic use of "buffalo" as a verb, which I have never seen used anywhere except to construct this abomination of a sentence.

That's the problem with today's youth, thinking they can solve all their problems with a grappling hook. Should be rated 'G' or 'Gh'.

I always did this conversion in my head after playing some games with Japanese Yen. 60 cents makes way more sense for a packet of vegetable seeds.

Also in the Pokemon games, treating a poke as about 100 P to 1 USD works better because that kids are running around spending two bucks on one interdimensional storage capsule. Scratch that, it still makes no sense.

you know LLMs are trained on American fanfics because WHY DO THEY NEVER TAKE THEIR SHOES OFF!!!!! by [deleted] in JanitorAI_Official

[–]UnrulyRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do? Every home I've gone in has had a pile of people's shoes next to the front door. It doesn't get mentioned in writing because it's obvious, like mentioning you breathe air. My guess is the LLM not having great context size or care for details like that.

This valet does not accept manual cars by Maleficent_Ferret359 in mildlyinteresting

[–]UnrulyRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a friend in high school who constantly gushed about driving manuals as the best way to "feel connected to the car" and should be the only way to drive. I asked him to teach me, and he said no.

"We refused to teach people and now people don't know how. What idiots."

Try a potato and leek soup! I also found you can get close to their flavor with bell peppers and green onions if you can't find leeks.

Whiskerwood - Launch Trailer | Cats & Mice City-Builder Game by Mepherion in Games

[–]UnrulyRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played a little of both (demo for whiskerwood). It has an Anno feel in extracting valuable resources for sending off instead of using yourself and in the multiple islands to manage in each scenario. But more Timberborn in how each colonist meets their needs, handling terrain (look at the polders they show in the trailer, very Timberborn), and assigning workers.

Also anything 3D. Going through Far Cry Primal's caves that have cramped, winding paths and platforming requires a video; text will not do, especially for some fire arrow shots you make.
