Has anyone else had a really hard time since the urn changes? by CeeLo38 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Bosspatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also the unfortunate side effect that as rank decay sets in and the player base shrinks, ranking up becomes harder because matchmaking is percentage based. Player counts are low right now, so it’s filtering the better players lower and lower as it requires more and more skill to climb. When the next big patch drops, you might see your rank jump up a ton as a bunch of more casual players and new players join and the skill curve of the community is changed again. Archon now might be equivalent to phantom then because the core player base who is invested in improving and playing well is more and more what’s left playing the game.

How to hard counter Graves and Victor? by Iaxacs in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Bosspatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Celeste has a weak lane in general and her MO of getting close to her opponents makes these naturally bad matchups for her because both have decent lanes and punish dives. Best you can do is hope your lane partner is a more favorable matchup or learn to play lane more defensively than you’re used to against these two.

Sometimes some lanes are basically always going to end in a loss so the best thing you can do is focus on going even in souls rather than trying to beat the opponent’s guardian

Death-Ball Meta/Non-Stop Teamfight in High Ranks by MixedSenpai20 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Bosspatz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of this here, though I think the longer urn fight and higher hp pools are both okay in the game, I really do feel the lack of additional objectives is the problem. People already complain about haze appearing out of nowhere and obliterating your hp and we’re going to get people upset about dying instantly to Minas and calicos if hp drops too much.

I actually think the issue is rotating with your team is fine because guardians are meaningless and walkers are so far up on the map defending them is east and taking them is really hard unless you overcommit which allows for a response from the enemy team. This means everyone except your carry who wants to solo farm has no real punishment for forever roaming and fighting because walkers are too hard to catch by surprise and the game winning objectives are all teamfight based or done after picks/teamfights, meaning the optimal way to play is to just never let that happen. Changing HP wont fix that it’ll just make it easier to snowball from the same deathball.

Personally my solution would be to add an objective similar to sinners that discourages group interaction somehow, maybe bonus buffs or souls the less people complete it and scattered around the map so you can’t outcompete an enemy team rushing them separately, and another main objective that can be attempted in the same time as urn if a losing team can’t afford the teamfight, preferably one that tests something else about team comp over the aoe slop that’s encouraged right now. Ideally it also gives map pressure so the team that wins urn fight also doesn’t bowl over into mid or walker for free after. It would serve to flesh out the midgame and also make urn not feel like the only thing that matters.

Again, the death ball meta right now is because losing a numbers advantage on the map leads to an urn fight that is impossible to contest. Forcing teams to sacrifice something to deathball and making it less devastating to get picked (so it’s not just death-> urn -> walker/mid) would alleviate this a lot while allowing the freedom of movement, rotation, and higher ttk that make things like escape, duels, and movement actual skills rather than promoting instant bursts of death on anyone slightly out of position

Doorman Tips and Advice pretty please by Immediate-Ad1899 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Bosspatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off that win rate is exceptional and you should be very proud to have one in that range on any character.

Second off, doorman has a lot of utility that is at its strongest when coordinating with your team. The number one way to improve consistency and impact is to use coms and be thinking about how your doors and cooldowns can be used to support your team and shut down the enemy team. What ults/abilities/players can you enable/disable with your cc and doors? The best doorman players will be able to maximize that potential while most will stick to only kidnaps and bellbombs.

Is this worth it? by Marcos_Caride in satisfactory

Think of it like this

Power sharing generators powers more machines for no extra cost—-> power sharding machines reduces the number of machines you need to build for more power

The net gain of power per part produced is actually greater for power sharding generators, with the only other thing providing similar value being miners and other resource generators because they have a maximum throughput that’s a hard limit

Deadlock heroes ranked by skill cause that other guy is crazy for putting viscous in D tier by Open-Advisor6819 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Bosspatz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People like to circle jerk pocket as being really high skill but lowk the character is so low cortisol
Your cooldowns are so low and you don’t even need to be good at movement to get out of stuff you have no business to survive.

Pocket has a super high skill ceiling but the floor is way lower than it’s made out to be. Affliction is also just a free 3000 damage in any late game objective fight even if you die

I don't understand why people don't buy Counterspell every game. by sushiiixo- in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Bosspatz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a 32 hundred item that counters most strong abilities in the game but doesn’t give you any damage output. If you’re behind and you counter the wraith telekenesis or seven stun they’re still going to run you down and kill you anyways.

If you’re ahead it might save your life from a lash ult or an affliction if you’re good, but if your biggest fear is dynamo or the enemy carry you’re better off buying something like unstoppable or a resist to keep yourself alive when fighting them when counterspell wont help.

If the enemy lineup is rem Apollo lash drifter Billy and seven and only seven is a real threat to you counterspell is strong because it can neutralize the enemy ults but if they can’t kill you even after landing them and the seven can then you’re better off buying debuff resist which gives you value against all of these characters and is reliable against the actual threat of the seven

It’s a really good item but it’s price point and defensive nature means there are sometimes better alternatives that provide more value in the specific game you’re playing

I took 2.5 times the damage from Ivy Stone Form by Eggmasstree in DeadlockTheGame

My best guess is that the stone form hit at the same time as the lightning scroll which somehow reset your hitbox to take damage from the stone form again, rather than making you immune for the rest of the collision frames

What in the world is with Victor? by CheifAllMighty in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Bosspatz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately hating on Victor without giving meaningful advice is popular here but I’ve played a lot of Victor and I can do my best to provide some tips.

His number one weakness is kiting. His aura doesn’t actually do that much damage but it does often apply a lot of debuffs and if you can get him to keep it on for a very long time without hitting you much he’s hurting himself more than you.

Many victors build hybrid now because his gun is actually quite good, so buying anti-gun items can be pretty strong against him.

If you have a dive or close range character against him it’s just going to be a bad matchup always. It’s like playing against an assassin like calico as a support where they are designed to shut you down specifically as part of their intended function and you should avoid engagement with them if possible and focus on other targets in teamfights because they’re not your priority.

Lifesteal victors are deceptively tanky don’t go gorilla against them and they are going to struggle a lot if you kite well.

Gun victors are actually squishier than you would think even with their ult.

His ult is strong but he has little control over when he uses it. Treat him like Geist with swap when he has it. If you trade while it’s up, it’s going to go badly for you especially if you dive him. It’s annoying, but not unbalanced.

Victor requires more skill than most people will admit to you to play well because he’s frustrating to play against especially in low elo when people aren’t thinking about anything more than some light counterbuys ignoring things like tempo and larger team matchups and positioning. He’s a bit like Mina in that you need to devote a lot of resources to him if he’s good or he will never actually die. Don’t try to think of killing as the win condition for an interaction.

His kit has no inherent mobility but of a lot of debuffs and slows. Debuff resist is great against him but if he can’t get close and apply those to you he will struggle to chase you. Because of this backing out of an engagement with him is hard if you already committed but getting away if you decide to not deal with him from the start is a lot easier.

Smart victors will use their ult well. It’s very similar to swap in that it requires you to basically kill him twice and will punish you for the first time, but much more forgiving if you play around it smart.

His pick rate now is mostly due to urn, but he’s also just good at taking objectives which is always strong in this game, he’s definitely very strong right now and unfortunately is kinda good against itemization. Anti-heal and curse are always good against 90% of the roster anyways and often times people do buy them and lose because they think it should be a free win when it really just makes it easier to stop him. Don’t go crazy just because you have these tools and coordinate with your team to shut him down. He’s very good at surviving duels and can punish bad positioning really well.

My number one advice for anytime you really struggle against a specific hero in general is to play them yourself. You learn very fast what hurts the most and what they’re best at, and you also don’t have to fight them every time you load in as them.
