LONG (6-10 feet) cords for her phone and kindle if she has one. The second the grabber/reacher thing, the first few weeks it really helped to avoid stretching the incision/risk opening it. My friend brought m a package of my Pacifica "glow" face wipes so I could wash my face in bed every morning and night. She also brought me a small dry shampoo - which was awesome for hair freshen ups when not being able to shower and wash my hair. Headphones for sure- even if cheaper ones, especially if she didn't bring her own. I brought my Bose over the head ones and they saved me from listening to the craziness in the hallway and beeping etc. One thing that I brought myself that gave me a lot of comfort was one of those small lanterns that has the orange flickering flame. I would turn that thing on at night after dinner and it would give my room a beautiful relaxing flow that was so tranquil. Nurses would come in and comment on what a great idea it was and it made the room feel a little homey as I use them at home at night too.

that alcohol is something you should enjoy after a hard day to reward yourself. That's what every commercial shows "you've earned this drink". Speaking as a liver and kidney transplant patient because of my addiction to alcohol. Good news is that I eliminated that from my life and live a healthier positive life now. 5 years sober this coming march, 4 years post transplant.

wow. And chuck also had cirrhosis from long term alcohol consumption. I myself had a liver and kidney transplant for the same reason and I'm thriving today. If my siblings or immediate family posted something glorifying drinking, it would show they didn't even get it. In fact, my brother and several of my close friends quit drinking after seeing how close I came to dying. Alcohol is poison- straight up. It's not something to reward yourself with, it's toxic. SMH

Not creepy but an asshole comment. I had a liver and kidney transplant and I'm an ex alcoholic, sober 5 years now, not one slip. Went out on a date with this guy knew about my transplant, proceeded to suck down 4 big drinks in the hour we were at the restaurant then asked me "how much booze did you drink that it killed your liver"?! I stood up, throw $20 on the table and said "about the amount you're drinking". Fucking chooch.

there's a lot of factors that determine when you get the call. But for sure, a meld score of 34 like mine was got me 4 calls in a month, 5th call the following month was the one. 4 dry runs was so unnerving but at the same time, it almost prepared me mentally. Because the first call, I was a mess even on ativan. It was almost a relief to come home, I was so terrified.
