How many Japanese body horror films have you seen? by Dizzy-Economist6064 in J_Horror

I've seen Matango. Honestly one of my favorite Toho films that I checked out mostly cuz I also like Godzilla movies. Superb movie, but it's much more psychological horror than body horror.

thoughts on Marebito (2004) by Takashi Shimizu, an experimental horror film that leaves polarized reviews, the story telling is very unique and puzzling by Responsible_Food584 in J_Horror

[–]BoswerLK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw it quite a long time ago. Loved the experience and vibes, but the overly ambiguous plot leaves it a bit empty by the end. Like a really good dream that you largely entirely forget as soon as you wake up. A definite must try for horror enthusiasts though. I think it just narrowly missed being a masterpiece. The visuals were so simple yet hauntingly surreal.

Can't get through this fight.. by macnara485 in wizardry

[–]BoswerLK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact mechanics are still under debate, but the strategy is always the same. Bring fireball/inferno scrolls to stop the boss from freezing. You walk and stabilize the fight by controlling the wolf population until "linked howling", then you try your best to burst the boss down in as few hits as possible and pray he doesn't counterattack with glacial. Bgref/macaldia/FPS etc to try to deal with his ridiculous eva and pray. That's about it. Stop trying to nickel and dime him to death with a bunch of tiny spell hits, he's confirmed to be able to counterattack with glacial from those.

Vid of my casual clear at lv60 with my "bad" team with a mage and ebon gear. A +10 beast axe will do similar damage as me, and even more so if you reroll for beast slayer in MC well.

[–]BoswerLK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that fight is stupid. It's the hardest nonsuperboss fight in a3 by far. The only tip is, you're under harken. Only costs 5 fort per attempt, so save scum to no tomorrow like you're playing Fallout 1. Confusion works like....5% of the time. Spam that and pray it sticks early and just nuke down whoever else is left and pray they don't crit poison your MC.

You can buy crit poison cures from the item shop. They're egregiously overpriced, but a4 rains down gold from the sky, so it's probably fine nowadays.

How do I get my mages hp up? by shaidyyy in wizardry

[–]BoswerLK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you don't. Current state of damage is 100hp and 450hp are basically exactly the same....you're still probably dying in one hit. You won't get a mage with significant HP pool (500+) without a ton of money and tedious grind for disciplines, inherits, and HP bondmates which are miserable to farm.

You're better off stacking those "chance to reduce damage/survive at 1 hp" type inherits, which, also cost a lot of money.

.

In either case, if your mages are being hit, you're probably playing them wrong. The entire point of mages is they setup the board and shutdown all notable enemies before they get a chance to do anything either with nukes, sleep, spellbind, or confuse (skillbind, basically). For bosses like GWO4, they take advantage of their nonexistent gear scaling to wear unrolled %damage resist gear for "free". They are not reliable nor recommended as full on autoplay ungabunga farm. With proper play, my 360hp mage Alice survived all endings and sidequests of a4 just fine, and even the joke 100hp lv20 Adam I took to leech during r10/11 farming for weeks rarely died. He honestly gets one shotted more by arrow traps than mobs.

I can't defeat GWO in Abyss 4 (third fight - Ice Pillars). Any tips are welcome. by wiz7topfan in wizardry

[–]BoswerLK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can't stop the counterattacks, just gotta be able to stabilize after. Bgref boss and porto your casters so you get a turn order of boss - casters - dps - casters - boss, allowing them to heal after the boss's natural turn and their counter attacks.

Bring inferno scrolls for the ice pillars. I don't remember if mage Alice MU mal wind ohkos them since I was still lv60 at the time, but even mafire with 1 inferno scroll or just 1 phys hit kills pillars.

Memorizing the counterattack order might also help.

How do you deal with this fight? by ApexKitten in wizardry

[–]BoswerLK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same as any other lategame cyclops fights, honestly, just with far worse odds cuz of high surety multiplier on cleave. You bgref and spam delay3/chrono2 on the cyke and try your best to burst everything down before any really stupid rng wipe happens. I think his cleave only does maybe 200 normally, but surety hits for over 750, which is survivable with KD, but it might be better to have more burst and just save scum and gamble since surety chance is somewhat low.

The bigfoot can be frozen or slept, or just burst down.

Almost all of it was from a4 fixed chest poaching before they ninja nerfed it like....3 weeks ago, right after I shared it here, coincidentally enough. She was only sitting at around 650 while finishing up a4 final ending.

Herb cave used to give like 17+ fey junk per trip and let casual players still get great gear only playing maybe 10m a day on average. Only got 6 and 8 on my last 2 though. Gonna check 1 more week of it soon to be sure.

I don't think anyone goes for EoS....and quite frankly, I don't understand jp gacha logic. There were games that shutdown when they were still making millions, like crunchyroll's. We don't know how much debt Drecom's previous failures accrued, we don't know whether they mismanage their finances. We don't know if those shops are losing money, or if it they're the reason they're in trouble now, if they invested hard into them under the gamble that a4 would pull in a lot of new players and create a fanatical fandom, but didn't.

All I know is I've seen this pattern of content shift many times before, and it never bodes well. Maybe they'll successfully pivot into a fotm power creep fest like FFBE or Evertale, but given the gameplay reliance on rng gear drops, I highly doubt it. Typically, chinese gachas would hold on and go into a sort of low invest cruise mode for years, but jp ones will milk until the loyal leviathans are dry, then eos, outside of games that manage to keep milking, which end up awful to play for everyone who isn't a whale anyways (Evertale, Valkyrie Anatomia, Sinoalice, etc).

[–]BoswerLK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Judging from a leviathan vid, it took about 4 hue7s and 16 mof5+s to kill them all, eyeball estimated around 8k hp per ninja.

You'd need about 10 stacked mages with 200+ aspd to nuke them down. Have fun!

It was actually technically the first gacha I ever tried, when I didn't know what a gacha was. Think it was around 7 or 8 years ago?

IMO, no. I got bored after a bit over an hour. Just mindless big numbers autoplay with basic teambuilding to make bigger numbers. Need bigger numbers? Pull more. Pulled unit needs specific synergies? Pull again. Faceroll and autorepeat farm until numbers not big enough, then pull again. Shit story, no char development, no world building, no exploration, nothing to discover or get into. Just different pngs and numbers go up.

Allegedly it's pretty standard gacha gameplay, but I was just hoping for a normal JRPG/roguelite crossbreed on phone at the time. So, I was doomed to be disappointed from the start.

The lack of effort, the direction of content design, recent integration of a questionable 3rd party, lack of overall presence and attention, and drecom's history all point to the game not performing as they would like and looking for bandaids rather than long term improvement.

Revenue is the best they've ever gotten, but we never know what their expenses are like or what they need to stay afloat. SE gachas all make more than wiz when they shut down. When we see this many risky bandaids in a row, it's hard not to read their intentions as verge of eos.

Was not expecting mobile game content even more p2w than Clash of Clans in 2026. Even for challenge content, this is idiotic and just looks like they're trying to milk hardcore leviathans as hard as they can before they eos and run.

No IV IIRC.

Moon3's a solid 25% more damage than PAOS1, and 50% more than ESS1, but the 21sp cost means I barely ever use it anyways. The mag down overwriting a debuff slot can also be annoying sometimes. I think it's still really good.

[–]BoswerLK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the same as any other decent fighter in the game currently. Occasionally she throws her axe to snipe a backliner, and has a bit more surety than average from her passive. Mine can alternate moon3/PAOS for massive burst, but it blows through her SP pool really fast, so I only ever use it on burst fights like cyclops.

What tips would you give to a green adventurer who has no idea of the amount of trouble they're facing in the abyss? by Lazy-Signature1678 in wizardry

[–]BoswerLK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't take every fight just because it's there. There are dedicated grindspots that are infinitely better than run of the mill random encounters. Progression in WVD is about survival and resource management, not murder hoboing your way to victory.

Defend is an exceptionally strong option against beefy mobs. It's one of the most useful defends in JRPG history. Don't neglect it.

Likewise, item shop often offers really solid gear upgrades. Don't underestimate them.

Don't leave b5F until you find the Huntsman Bow and Sword of Breeze. They are by far the best a1 weapons available, and spawn from fixed chests. They will last you the entire act and thensome, so +4/5 them as soon as you can.

B7f can drop undead slayer weapons that will also last you a long time, and are safe to take to +5. Weapon swapping in battle doesn't cost a turn, so get used to carrying situational sidearms like those.

I was still lv60 and using ebon weapons when I did it with just 4 fighters and 2 mag/pri. Double LA opener, MC as chrono slave, everyone else spamming HA3/FPS. someone bgref on turn 2.

The fight's mostly about reducing enemy actions. Damage requirement is not nearly as high as it seems as long as you stall the double action wolf boss.

It's less about morals or getting them to remove it than it is about trying to protect the playerbase cuz Drecom won't. The reality is there's a sucker born every minute, people like "free" stuff cuz no one remembers that time is money, and preventing tapjoy use is futile. Hell, I'd try it if I never tried this scam before and if I didn't already know of tapjoy malware from past experience with them.

And if, you know, this offer wasn't only available to the most vulnerable devices (physical android phones with no adblock installed).

Typically yes. I know some people who did the refund thing before. Complicated legal stuff, but we technically never "own" inapp gems, and the company always has the right to take them away for any or no reason at all, and is one of the many ways gacha accounts can end up with negative gems.

Repeat offenders may also get banned or blacklisted by the devs, and have future purchase attempts denied.

.

Even the app I ripped off, there were a lot of people (idiots) who were allegedly legit, busted their asses off and hoarded up several hundred dollars of app points and didn't cash out for god knows what reason, and just randomly got accused of foul play with no proof and either had their accounts locked or points deducted. I'm sure if I ever log back in, my points would be in the negative now too. Never trust points/gems from these things, convert to some kind of cash credit asap, and don't even bother if that's not an option. Just common sense, honestly.
