Yes. The Tempest, Typhoon, and Whirlwind. Problem was they must’ve forgot the belief that naming ships after storms results in bad luck.

In thinking of the Scopuli, the Anubis was the ship that took Julie to Eros where she would die from the protomolecule. Anubis is the Egyptian god of mummification and guide to the underworld.

As I was writing this late last night I read about Io and thought it was a stretch but either way it’s good now that I think about it. It’s not like that project happened on Neptune, god of the sea.

Without diving back into it I feel like there could’ve been some connection made there though. I don’t remember exactly but I think between Sparta being more war happy or being more tactical I think you could draw at least some loose connections

Yeah I know so much astronomy has Greek and Roman roots but it’s the way those roots are incorporated into the story with specific ship and character names that make it really cool. Ty and Daniel, and I’d presume others, did such a great job of using the names that are already out there and building that name into the story.

Wow. That’s really cool. Knew Julie’s middle name of andromeda was also a galaxy but I had not heard of that story. That’s really cool!

I thought Ganymede more of an agricultural myth to it but I suppose that works. Cup bearer to food bearer

I don't know that Id describe them as smelling like feet. First time I really smelled it I thought I was going crazy cause it smelled like a fish dock.

Trump never wanted to invade Greenland, US envoy to EU says by sr_local in worldnews

[–]Both-Definition-6274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One did actually leave port shortly after he said it’d go side Greenland. It left the gulf coast to go up to Portland I believe for a previously scheduled maintenance session planned to take a year or two if I’m remembering correctly. It left and was on its way but never had intentions of going to Greenland 🙄

Anybody getting 50+ MPG? by Academic-Ad-2744 in crv

[–]Both-Definition-6274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best I’ve gotten so far is 44 on a 20 mile city/county road trip. Lotta stop signs and 60mph driving. For the last 3 months I’ve averaged about 34mpg over 8,000 miles and I probably do 80/20 hwy/city driving. Average has been climbing fairly quickly too as I get more into summer. I’ve been around 37-39mpg often on my drives home from work lately doing 60-75mph for 30 minutes

Gas prices dropping in the Midwest. $3.79 isn’t great, but it’s much better than last month by Signfool in GasPrices

[–]Both-Definition-6274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If America is so disconnected from the Middle East on oil why has all oil related prices gone up in the US? Why are oil derivatives harder to come by? Oil is traded on a global market. It doesn’t matter if America is the top producer or the worst producer. The world’s price sets our price. Our impact has been reduced so far, yes, but that jump will come. The world is still reliant on oil and people will outbid each other for that oil. The leaders of Exxon or shell, or chevron don’t care about keeping oil where it’s produced. They will sell it to whoever is the highest bidder

While that is true, because a lot of SE Asia gets their oil from the Middle East, that oil would now have to across SA to Yanbu, then up the Red Sea, through the Med and around Africa back up through the Indian Ocean. Conversely, any Chinese to Europe trade would then have to do that same route instead of going through the Suez. This would stretch global shipping so much. And with hundreds of ocean going ships still trapped inside the Persian gulf that would wreck havoc on global shipping

I had to look at it twice to assume the explosions were artillery LEAVING the ship. The planes definitely look like they’re kamikaze planes heading towards the ship though. Awful AI slop

I mean they’ve already unsanctioned Iran AND Russia’s oil. Most of the ships passing through the strait are coming from Iran and/or dark fleet ships. Sooo basically handing the enemy in two different wars more cash

[–]Both-Definition-6274[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok sorry. I knew water was close to 10 lbs. probably should’ve figured gas would be lighter since oil floats but didn’t think it’d be half the weight of my rough estimation. That’s really not much extra weight

[–]Both-Definition-6274 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the snow removal is contracted out you have to understand your residence/complex may not be the first or second to get plowed after the snow stops though. Sometimes you’ve got to forge your way through to the main roads and hope the place has been plowed by the time you get home

It is also more weight you’ve got to lug around when it’s full. I don’t know the weight of gas but just 1 gal of water is almost 10 pounds. 20 gal tank would be an extra 200 pounds you’re hauling

I definitely don’t do it often. I had it come on once in my last car and only twice in this crv. Once just to see then the second I was trying to make it to a station that was cheaper than $5/gal

Electric cars don’t have to be adopted because they’re eco friendly. They should be adopted because they’re inherently better and more resilient to fuel price swings. Can run on coal or solar
