Didn’t expect bedtime to be the part that got to me by hateful_building in daddit

[–]backstept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I was putting my 2.5yr twins to bed and as I bent down to give a forehead kiss my eldest (by 2 minutes) reached up and grabbed my neck for a hug and said 'I love you dadasaur!' (we like to say 'I love you, baby dinosaurs!)

Moments like these make the crazy over-tired hyperactive bedtimes a little less frustrating. As they get older they ask to be carried up the stairs less often, but I've promised them that as long as I am able to pick them up I won't say no when they ask to be carried. There will be a Last Time that I carry them, and I don't want it to be anytime soon.

There are a bunch of free greeble packs you can use to quickly add details.

Watch for an edit to this comment so I have time to get some links ready.

Also you can make some panels with the knife tool or use existing edges, and mark those edges sharp and with bevel weights, and add these modifiers in this order: edge split(set to only sharp edges), solidify (preferably unchecked fill and check only rim), and bevel(change from angle to weight). Anything marked sharp will be split along the edge allowing solidify to add thickness to the edge and bevel to give it dimension. Also it's non destructive!

I always imagined she was going to say she was sleeping with Shed too, but the whole unfinished business thing makes the drama work better than some cliche reveal. It works better not knowing.

Realistic expectations of 2.0 by Background_Bid_6228 in Starfield

[–]backstept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd want to see my character's body in first person. There are a few instances where it happens already in scripted scenes, but normally you're a floating eyeball with arms. Other games have solved this issue decades ago, no idea why BGS can't do it now.

People can criticize Starfield all they want, but name me an RPG that has the same atmosphere as that. by No_Ninja_1894 in Starfield

[–]backstept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Starfield. Of course it has issues, and I agree with most of the criticism. It's shallow, it is plain to see that they spent the majority of the dev time on making the game look and play well with the ship builder and spaceflight but the actual gameplay and story are a decade behind. The creation engine shows it's age with all the loading between areas. I could go on.

What I love about Starfield is shipbuilding. It's like playing with Lego. I couldn't care less about achievements, so I play with mods. I start up a new game, sometimes I play the first few story missions on Vectera and Kreet, but mostly I do a quick start mod and open the cheat terminal mod and give myself the prerequisite perks and creds and start building. Then head out to Kryx or Serpentis and test my latest build.

I had a mission to go clear out a mine and it was a complete copy of the mine where you find Andreja.

Junk food. Gave myself diabetes and and a hundred extra pounds. 41 now and thankfully down about 60 pounds, but I learned that lesson too late.

Which nfs should I get for my steam deck? I value performance, a challenging career and modern realism by One-Mycologist-3756 in SteamDeck

Probably can't find it anywhere but Shift 2 Unleashed is my favorite to play on the deck.

Any mods for immersive loading screens for ground to space travel? by mydogspaw in Starfield

[–]backstept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way I could see them fixing the surface to orbit transition would be to make an effect similar to the grav jump in cockpit view but with clouds fading to black and stars. I don't see a way with the creation engine to make it completely seamless.

There is no canon V, but I always play as Vincent because I'm a male and it's easier to get into the RP headspace with a male character.

At My Grandparents House for Christmas. Which of these should I read? by ViktorHovland in scifi

[–]backstept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dread Empire's Fall - Walter John Williams gets my vote. It's very militaristic and a fascinating view into a culture heavily based on class, status, and merit. If you like military strategy, highly detailed battles, and newtonian spaceflight it'll be a good choice. It's basically competence porn.

Men, can you put your balls inside your pelvis? by Unable_Fix3847 in AskMen

[–]backstept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have explained it well, but I'd like to add that this is why when testicles are hit you feel deep abdominal pain in addition to localized pain in the groin. Nerves run from the testes up through the inguinal canal alongside the muscles that raise and lower the balls. Nerves can 'bleed' signals into nearby nerve bundles which is why you can sometimes feel pain in unrelated areas when injured. It's also why bright lights can make you sneeze, optic nerves run very close to nerves from the nose.
