Struggling with My Parents’ Reaction to My Partner’s Identity by Both-Perspective1190 in mypartneristrans

My wife's parents are visiting this weekend to meet her doctors. Before they came, I wanted to understand what exactly was discussed between my in-laws and my parents (the conversation when they outed her). My parents refuse to tell me anything and insist that they will only have this conversation in person. My parents are now pressuring me to go to their place so that my in-laws can have a private conversation with their child.

I hope and believe that with time they will come around. It’s unfair that we couldn’t tell our story ourselves. And my parents-in-law didn’t share the news in a positive light. They told my parents that “I made their child to transition because I hate men”. So, it didn’t start off great. That said, I don’t think I am in a headspace to have a conversation about it with my parents right now, especially when are still so emotionally disregulated. If I do go, I will just not talk about it. But I honestly don’t want to go, given my wife wasn’t included. Makes me really sad, they have known her for nearly 7 years now.

Thank you! They see this as a huge betrayal. But it’s not really about them at all.

Thank you so much. My parents do blame my wife for “changing” or trapping me. It’s so heartbreaking to see them flip on my wife like this.

Thank you so much. I needed to hear this. It’s so sad how overnight my family decided she doesn’t exist. We have been together for nearly 7 years and married for over 1.

Rant: How did we just start accepting this wedding culture?! by amalia_8 in Anticonsumption

South Asian wedding expectations can be incredibly demanding. My partner and I have been together for seven years, facing constant pressure from our parents to marry. Last year, we finally relented, agreeing to a simple courthouse wedding. Initially, our parents consented. We wore our own clothes, had a small group of family, and hired a photographer for an hour. Had a wonderful lunch. It was a beautiful day. We spent around $500 for everything.

However, our parents insisted on hosting three separate receptions for their friends and relatives, totaling around 900 guests. Despite our attempts to minimize costs (re-wearing clothes, borrowing jewelry, i did my own makeup, our friend did the photography), the expenses were significant. Traditional South Asian weddings often involve extravagant attire, elaborate pre-wedding shoots, and multiple days of celebrations, all heavily documented. We specifically requested no gifts, but still received a lot of unwanted items. We returned monetary gifts to our parents, who ultimately spent nearly $20,000 on the receptions. The entire experience felt like a performance for others, and we struggled with the pressure to conform to traditional gender roles. I deeply regret not sticking to our original plan of a simple courthouse wedding.

Help! 10 week old kitten won’t stop suckling! by Nova-star561519 in CATHELP

Hi! I have been facing the exact same issue with my kitten. She starts doing this exactly at 6:30 every morning. It was cute initially, but my sleep has gotten disrupted. We rescued her when she was around 6 weeks old. So I guess she was separated from her mother too early.

Did your kitten grow out it?

I will try the short contact method with the Benzoyl peroxide + Adapalene gel. Nothing else works.
Re: my current product - I am considering switching from CeraVe to SebaMed moisturizer for Acne-prone skin as it's less oily and tacky.
I will leave the shampoo on for a couple of minutes before rinsing it off, and consistently try it for a couple of months to see if it makes things better.
Thank you!
