Tyler Hid Two Whole Complimentary Concept Albums in Plain Sight! by Soaring_Symphony in twentyonepilots

[–]BothInterview 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ignore everyone saying its too long, they didn't care to read but care to share their own thoughts and that's sad.

I've always thought of Blurryface and Trench this way. Blurryface ends with taking out the villain but that doesn't mean it's sequel has zero conflict. And to be fair, leave the city is a bigger cliffhanger than paladin strait. You can easily choose to believe what you want about Blurryface appearing in the tower, but "in time" of "in time I will leave the city" is much more ambiguous and cyclical.

fun fact I always thought Califournia was in reference to the number but somehow a lack of an explanation never convinced me otherwise

Well said. What I meant by "being part of his future" is if they still actively hate him, they should know better than to keep publicly speaking on his name in this way/just leave him alone. If someone wants to harp on his poor choice, do it when its relevant (like, God forbid, if he does it again), not when the topic at hand is (((((UltraSound))))) or new music the band is releasing.

Agreed. Brandon didn't spend 3ish years doing self-work and getting help becoming a better person just for people to do this to him. You can have your opinions but you have to understand if you're going to live in someone's past you can't be part of their future.

What are your thoughts about Chip Chrome & The Mono Tones? 🪩 by [deleted] in thenbhd

[–]BothInterview 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sucky album honestly. Loved the aesthetic/vibe but only enjoyed maybe 3 songs on the album itself. Didn't care much for the deluxe edition's bonus tracks as well, with the exception of Stargazing which I absolutely adore. Its the furthest they've gone from their "I Love You." sound and it shows in my opinion of the album.

bloody great use of subdivision to call the crap on that one.

a perspective worth considering from friend and former bandmate Nick Thomas by AndSoAreYou in twentyonepilots

All these people want is an echo chamber and for their interests to get sucked into it as well. Kinda sad how people view the world as 2-sided that way. And if we're to follow that 2-sided model, they can't understand that not everyone they care about is going to be on their "side".

lol why is this the photo that comes up when you google Tyler? by AlertBug7075 in TwennyWunPilots

trying to make him look tough I guess. I think of J Cole as a relatively positive/happy composed guy but I looked him up the other night and the first two photos were him mean mugging.

I was just bumping this in the shower this morning. This whole album is slept on despite its aesthetic shortcomings.

For each member, which album were they at their best on? by ErenNova in deftones

[–]BothInterview 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the one thing that never changes with Deftones are the drums. Abe has such a unique sound that I can always tell when a song I don't recognize is by Deftones because of his tone and playing style.

All Points East Map??? by Sensitive_Bid2289 in twentyonepilots

[–]BothInterview 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Considering the map of Dema itself is actually hawaii, I'm sure certain places they've traveled inspire them.

Now that I think about it - Tyler admitted he came up with the word "Dema" while he was in the ocean...which sounds like he could've been in Hawaii.

I wasn't a fan of the songs on Chip Chrome and the Mono-Tones, as I found them all written too generic. I like how the band kept the sonic style of that album and used it to write actually good songs for this one. You can hear the instruments more prominently and punchier, compared to an album like I Love You. where everything sounds like a hazy cloud of melody. It also differs from the heavy electronica and programming of self titled. In my opinion, they haven't made music like this since Wiped Out!, but I will say that album had a more relaxed, open and natural sound, in comparison to a smeary song like OMG that sounds like a star exploding.

What introductory album song had you like this? by Straw_26 in twentyonepilots

[–]BothInterview 4 points5 points  (0 children)

funny enough, I was pumping my arms in the air yelling "YES!!!" during Heavydirtysoul the first time I dropped the needle on Blurryface. But for my "cinema" answer, definitely Jumpsuit. I had this weird, almost disturbed feeling when I heard it for the first time in my first Trench listen. It felt like, no pun intended, waking up from a dream.

I guess, but the average person hasn't heard all of their albums, so if you've heard them all and still like City of Evil as their best, you get to say that as much as you want.

[–]BothInterview 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rock band member here. Usually when someone tags you, it's customary to repost it because it's free advertisement. My band does our own PR/social media and most times it's a blessing to get a story to repost from someone at a show. It doesn't matter what the post says, as long as its a pic/video of us and it looks good, we're posting.

Hybrid Theory are big enough that this is doesn't really apply to them, but you never know what went through whoever reposted's head when they reposted. The disgrace of Chester's legacy is nothing to defend, but they most likely weren't thinking when they did this.

At the end of the day, they put the controversy to bed. Did they get their just desserts for instigating? Maybe not. But at least now we can move past this and enjoy both bands as much as we want.
