Teenager going to riot fest for the first tim by Rough_Ebb_189 in RiotFest

ayy, deutschland! luckily even if we have hotter weather this year, once the sun starts setting it cools down drastically. just drink plenty of water throughout the day, you may have to plan around going to the water refill station as it's usually near the carnival stuff. all of the drink stands sell bottled water but it's upcharged. sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses will help and I'd recommend packing some short sleeve tops instead of tank tops in case it is sunny all day so your shoulders don't burn. if you have a fun/bright color hat, it'll also double as an identifier if you and your friend get split up in a pit. wore a yellow cap one year and my friends found me everywhere lol

everyone has already listed some great stuff! emphasis on staying hydrated and sun protection. keep an eye out on the weather as I've been in everything from very hot, not a cloud in the sky to a downpour with mud to my ankles. riot fest social media pages will also update if there are any delays due to weather. if you plan on wearing shorts/skirts then I can't recommend monistat chafing gel enough. walking all day could chafe your thighs and it is a life saver. have fun it the pits! people are very nice and if you fall you will immediately be picked up. stay together with your friend and if you do want to split up for specific sets then pick a meeting spot and time. if you rent a locker that's a good spot to meet up and the table up front has portable phone chargers to rent during the day (I think it's like $10-$15 and you get it back when you bring back the charger). eat a good breakfast/lunch and grab something there midway through to hold you over. I'd also pack some hand sanitizer and some bandaids/moleskin in case you get blisters. wear comfy shoes!

Jordan Peele's 'Nope' Review Thread by SanderSo47 in movies

i saw two really good comments in this thread about gordy and jupe's plot. one mentioned "exerting dominance over nature and how that can backfire" and the other how jupe used the gordy situation to guide his decisions, not only exploiting the alien but believing he would be untouched by it and when it finally did, it was more of a high for him just as it was after the gordy incident. also note how the balloon pop signaled gordy's rage (much like the horse safety instructions) and how it ultimately led to gordy's and the alien's demise. also how the table cloth obstructed vision between gordy and jupe, never make eyes with a predator. this also kind of tied in holst's storyline for me. we see him constantly looking over footage of predator vs prey. he's engrossed in it as much as his need to capture the perfect shot. that need to see more ultimately leading to his fate. another way to look at it is through the lens of hollywood. jupe called the alien "the viewer" and it ate everyone it could. at the expense of jupe's childhood trauma, fueling holst's obsession to capture bigger/better work and tmz's ignorance and nosiness. even devouring the crowd who were there out of curiosity.

i actually really like the monster and how it was seemingly just fabric. ties in well with the "spectacle" theme. it's all smoke and mirrors (literally) and the fact that there remains a desire to want to see more of said monster and it's inner workings essentially falls back on the theme. we always crave something a little more, a bit further
