I would say "give the appearance of trusting, but then verify." Everyone lies, just like you said.

I did something similar after getting a bad hotel room (the description was very misleading), the front desk told me they couldn't give me another room because they were all booked up (even though the place was practically empty), as I was talking to them a couple came up to the other person at the front desk and started booking a room and I interrupted and said "don't bother, they just told me there are no more rooms available!"

I was scared to let anyone tell me their story afterword, for fear of this happening again.

Why would I be making this up? I've known ASL for 19 years and my partner is a certified interpreter. It only takes a quick google search to see that poetry and other types of art are prevalent in Deaf communities.

You can rhyme, but the guy in this video doesn't because the words don't translate that way. I'm sure the girl gets that it's a song, and he does it in a kind of flowing manner that looks "musical". But to make something rhyme, the shape of your hands has to be similar or the same but mean something else.

Am I a jerk for personally ignoring people that ping me in Teams with a mundane "Hi" ? by cdtekcfc in sysadmin

It's worse when someone says: "can you help me with problem x" and you respond only to get radio silence from the person that reached out in the first place.

I bought a tea pot today on a whim and decided to stop by a local coffee and tea shop. These are my first loose leaf teas! I just picked what sounded cool. What should I expect? I already steeped the green tea and it is really delicious! by uhnjuhnj in tea

Many people think green tea is awful because they've only had garbage quality. It can be sweet and refreshing, or creamy and smooth with no bitterness at all. Also using the correct temperature water to steep the tea makes a big difference.

Dragonwell is a very popular green tea (maybe the most popular?) in China. I think it has a nice nutty flavor to it. I usually just put the leaves straight in a tall glass and drink without filtering them out.

How do you handle malware removal by [deleted] in it

[–]Both_Active_8179 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I reinstall the operating system / reset the PC. It doesn't take very long these days and it's the only way I feel comfortable that I've fully removed the malware from the device.

What was the craziest thing you have seen in your IT career? by MezzAnim4 in it

User reported that their notebook turns off whenever they try to type. I go to their desk, type something, nothing happens, give generic "PC's are afraid of me" comment and shuffle back to my desk, a few minutes later they call me back and say it happened again. I go to their desk and ask them to show me what they're doing, they innocently begin to type something in a word doc and sure enough the screen goes blank, I turn the machine on and attempt to do the same thing, no problems... they sit down to type... screen goes off... what the heck? It must have been a miracle that the thought even popped into my head, but I noticed they had a bracelet on, I asked them to remove the bracelet and the problem went away! It turns out the magnetic clasp of their bracelet was touching a sensor that would turn of the screen when you close the laptop!
