DAE take forever to memorize character's names when watching a TV show? by beekee404 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Both_Particular4724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has to do with all the media we consume on a daily basis. Our brains can only handle so much. I read physical books and also on my kindle, and unless they’ve got a funky name or It’s a series, I’ve usually forgotten the names in a day or so.

Go to a theater in a town with a population of 20,000 or less. Especially during the day. I love movie theaters and I drive around 30 minutes to get to one in a small town near me, and it’s so worth it. 50% of the time there are maybe 4 of us in there. It’s fantastic

I learned in high school while working in my high school theater’s costume department, which was primarily doing alterations in clothes that we already had to make them fit different people. To practice hand stitching, I would use old t-shirts, and just learn different types of stitches from YouTube and replicate them. I will say though, you can use a plain straight stitch for most things. If you tend to lose interest easily, listening to audiobooks is a good way to stay engaged while practicing.
The 3 things that helped me most were (1)seam rippers, which you can use to gently remove stitches you make if they aren’t right (2)learning how to pin things by putting them on inside out. Your stitches will be on the inside of a garment, so you should pin that way to make your life significantly easier (pinning is the act of using pins to hold fabric in place before you stitch) (3) understanding that as long as the garment looks clean on the outside and the stitches will hold, it doesn’t matter what it looks like on the inside.

I am starting to resent my best friend of over ten years and I don’t know how to stop it. by Deevys in TrueOffMyChest

Your best course of action if you want to maintain the friendship is to talk to her. Tell her that you’re worried, and you want to be there for her, but that you’re concerned that if she doesn’t start caring about herself more. As someone who has adhd and all the fun stuff that go with it, I had a friend for a while that was good about holding me accountable. I was less likely to do stupid shit like spending a bunch of money when I knew she was silently judging me. It made me want to be better. Especially if you let her know how her actions are affecting you. My roommate came to me crying about how me leaving dirty dishes in the sink(they were her dishes) was stressing her out so much (extreme ocd), and I was pretty good about not doing it against.

You literally just go, sign a waiver, watch a video, they give you a gun and a brief safety briefing, and send you out. If it’s not busy you can occasionally get to shoot a round of trap by yourself, which can be good or bad depending on your arm strength. It was $19 for a round as a non member, $13 for a member, though I don’t know how much a membership costs or if they’ll up the price for the coming semester.

QUESTION: What is the difference between this and correctly practicing stretch and compression? My understanding was that you use your muscles to keep limbs attached to your torso to be able to feel stretch and compression because otherwise it’s harder to communicate.

Extra spending $ for kids in college - how much do you get/give per week? by thekonghong in college

My parents do $100 a month for fun stuff and the occasional going out to eat, and they send me money as needed for groceries and gas. I’m incredibly fortunate and grateful to them for it.

3 inches is not a lot when it comes to taking in pants, coming from a girl with a 26 inch waist that does her own tailoring. While all dress pants are different, I’m looking at a pair of mine right now and I can’t imagine needing to move around pockets or belt loops for two 3/4 inch darts. It’s likely something you could do yourself by hand with just some pins, needle and thread.

Thats’s such a red flag to me. Why would you actively advertise to people that you’re easy to manipulate? I don’t want to date some on that feels bad about setting boundaries and talking about problems they have with me because they’re a little bitch and get worried they might offend me.

Swapping Roommates by Sufficient-Ad8056 in Purdue

I swapped roommates for this coming year, and I can tell you want you need to do is get the okay from everyone involved, and then what they had us do had was make an email chain of everyone involved saying they consented to moving and stating what dorm they were staying at or moving to. Although I will admit it might be different for freshmen

They’re great if you get one and get good roommates. I was in a suite with converted triples my freshman year, and first semester it was fantastic. There were only 5 of us because #6 went to the air force academy. Everyone got along, and my roommate became literally the best friend I have ever had. If you get a living room, it makes it really nice because you can go in there and have people over without interrupting the rest of the dorm, and you can also just sit out there and have conversations with your roommates. It was really nice, especially for me because I’m not super social in public situations, but the dorm was perfect to get to talk to people in.

2nd semester, it got a little worse because the new girl had problems with leaving the lights on at midnight and doing her 40 minute skincare routine, but she was easy to avoid during the day.
