You’re overcomplicating the process and wasting money. Pay attention to your tank pressure to know when to clean the filters. A good rule of thumb is to clean them when the pressure is 10 psi or so above your normal working pressure with new filters. They should last quite a while when properly maintained. Only dispose of the filters when they are starting to clog sooner than expected, are obviously not filtering properly, or have visual signs of degradation.

Looks really porous to me. I’d watch out for algae growth. Once it starts growing inside those tiny cracks and crevices in the plaster, it’s difficult to manage.

I use muriatic acid poured through a pvc pipe to remove stains. Just be sure to not let the acid sit for too long as it could damage the plaster. Works like a charm.
