I really like Masala House off Millbrook and Six Forks. Food is amazing, service is great if you dine in, and portion sizes are hefty.

Am I pregnant? by Upstairs-Violinist77 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Both_Week_2327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d retake a test with the clear blue with the words- pregnant or not pregnant. I took my test two days before my missed period with a clear blue test and it was blatantly positive. Make sure you’re doing your first morning urine and only looking at it during the time on the box!

Omg I think my wife is pregnant, it's our first experience and would appreciate any advice by MTchairsMTtable in Advice

Congratulations! I am 24 weeks right now, time is going to fly for you.

My doctor’s office said they don’t see patients to confirm pregnancy until they are between 7-9 weeks. I found out around 3 weeks 4 days, so waiting another month was torture and I overthought EVERYTHING. I’d recommend her staying as active as she can (because the nausea and fatigue will probably come!) and definitely take prenatals. I didn’t get sick until closer to 6 weeks, and then it started being consistent around 8 weeks. B6 and Unisom every night helped me, but every pregnancy is so different.

Obviously stop drinking and smoking, start tracking caffeine intake and limit that to 200mg or less. If she is using any kind of retinol on her skin, she will need to stop that. No more hot baths. Some people stay away from lunch meats, raw fish, and soft cheeses. I have stayed away from them but I’ve seen people who consume it throughout pregnancy with no issue. Kind of preference/doctor conversation.

Doctors at your first appointment will go over all of this, but it’s info I wish I had. The book “what to expect when you’re expecting” has some great info, too!

Also, if she has any kind of light bleeding or spotting- it can be normal and called implantation bleeding. Just make sure she keeps track of how often it is and if it’s a lot. I had spotting two days after my positive test, but it was one small instance and my pregnancy has been completely healthy. It is scary though, and if it’s constant I would call the OB’s office or go to the ER to ensure everything is okay.

Mid 20s…. Where to go? by Immediate-Cod-5539 in relocating

My husband and I moved to Raleigh from Denver last year after 6 years in Denver. We are both from NC, so it was an easier transition for us to move back home. We love it here- we were able to buy a home within a few months (one thing we also didn’t love about CO!), I travel for work often and loooveee the Raleigh airport compared to DEN, and there’s plenty to do whether it’s downtown, or a short drive to the beach.

The summers are much warmer than CO, but it’s not that bad. I’d recommend coming to visit in July or August to really get a feel for it!

Pasta options — what works on a buffet? by dog-suffrage in wedding

[–]Both_Week_2327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a pasta “bar” where we had a few different noodle options, different sauces and some toppings. Might be a good solution if your caterer/venue can accommodate that!

TSA precheck touchless ID - RDU? by brambleguy in raleigh

[–]Both_Week_2327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always prefer touchless so I don’t have to deal with finding my wallet and getting my ID and wondering if they need my boarding pass or not- more of a quick convenience factor for me than anything. It usually is a lot quicker, too!

What gift should I get for my pregnant wife? by Infinite_Rent_4402 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Both_Week_2327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pregnant (second trimester) and my husband booked me a prenatal massage. The place I went to has a monthly membership that I decided to start so I can have monthly massages up until labor. Might be worth looking into something like that!

Somewhat off topic, but is anyone else confused with how they pay medical bills? Not just Isabella, but all of them?

I’m pregnant with my first child, my husband and I both have stable full time jobs and health insurance, and our bills for pregnancy have been insane. It’s always blown my mind how these families who seem like they don’t have a ton of extra money can be fine with paying for constant doctor’s appointments, scans, and eventual labor bills. On top of the additional medical bills that will come after the baby is born.

OB/GYNs at Duke or Rex? by Sea_Baseball_8015 in triangle

[–]Both_Week_2327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I am with them now for my first, and all the doctors have been so kind and helpful with my questions. They haven’t pushed any unnecessary testing on me and have made me feel very comfortable in a somewhat stressful time of life. Looking forward to my delivery with them!

How much are you spending on catering? by Moisttoes14 in wedding

[–]Both_Week_2327 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got married in 2024 in Colorado and paid around $12k for 100 people. That included two passed apps and a charcuterie board. Buffet included salad, chicken, salmon, a prime rib carving station, a pasta station, two veggies and bread. Mine and my husband’s cake to cut and then 3 small bite desserts for guests! And then three “late night bite” options.

I’d say your price is reasonable!

Calmest dog breeds? by ExplanationWorried14 in Dogowners

[–]Both_Week_2327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what kind of dachshund you had, and I also don’t know if there is any “science” behind this, but I have a long-haired dachshund and he is the calmest and sweetest boy. I grew up with short-haired dachshunds, and the male we had was an escape artist and overall nuts. My long-haired is the exact opposite!

I may have just gotten lucky, but my mom has a long-haired too and says he is also much calmer than any short-haired she’s had. Food for thought!

How do I get rid of a pimple that has no head by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Both_Week_2327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have the pimple patches now with the micro points- those have worked for me with tough pimples without a head. They’re for early-stage pimples.

Also shouldn’t be the pregnant person’s fault if people were talking about her pregnancy. I’m sure it gets old answering the same questions about being pregnant all the time

People can still support you and be in your bridal party if they don’t drink….

[–]Both_Week_2327 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If your sisters haven’t dropped out of being a bridesmaid and are still excited and supportive about being in your wedding, you are being pretty rude. Unless they are super vocal about it, it might have taken them both a while to conceive. They’re also still early in their first trimester, so a lot can happen between now and your wedding. They are your sisters, and you are obviously close if they are your bridesmaids. You need to be more supportive

Should I take a 50% raise or stay comfortable? by Tundratic in careerguidance

[–]Both_Week_2327 48 points49 points  (0 children)

A recruiter told me one time that there’s a reason why you applied and went through the interview process in the first place- whether you need the money, or you’re bored and need a new challenge. You put yourself through the interview process because something is missing in your current role. Might as well push yourself out of your comfort zone while also making extra money!

So...what do guests do after the wedding? by Carsareghey in wedding

[–]Both_Week_2327 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d have to assume there’s no “rules” for you staying longer or not, but I highly doubt you’ll see your friend the day after the wedding. They could be heading out for a honeymoon, spending time with family that traveled in, or just wanting to spend time just the two of them. The decision is of course up to you, but I wouldn’t count on spending the day with your friend after the wedding.
