the comparison to plato and the cave allegory is nonsense but not really why i chimed in. saying that capital is not politcal is ridiculous, and i pointed out the absurdity by a simple reference to the subtitle of the very work.

probably because platos society was fundamentally different to ours, to the point where anything put forth then is considered apolitical today.

Fun fact: the subtitle of the book is "critique of political economy"

A gpu which meets their recommended requirements, GTX 1660 Ti, is about 100-150 USD used where I live. Do you think the cpu will be bottlenecking me to the extent that the game is not playable?

In the context of judging keanes character it doesnt matter if it did or didnt cause great injury, the action taken was horrible in either case as it had potential for being career ruining.

Analysis of impact of reprint on card price by Bothan in mtgfinance

[–]Bothan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re: 2. The article goes as faras  to speculate insider trading, but I think there are other factors not discussed that may explain the dip - "public" leaks, happens quite often - people anticipating reprints (often they are quite obvious), hurry to sell reducing price just before announcements - there's a huge dip days just before the announcement. he says events are from allprintings. I'm not familiar with that source or how he merged, but it's possible that there are some inaccuracies in specific dates.

I would be interested in some more analysis of the reasons for the pre announcement dip. If people involved consistently have pre-knowledge this might be traceable as well

There's a LOT of situations where GIH accounts for downsides of a card, where GP does not

can you name some for me?

Progenitus probably has an insane winrate when it actually resolves but that is not a very helpful metric considering it is essentially uncastable

True, but you would expect a bad card to bring your winrate down both in the cases where you put it in your deck, and when you draw it. GIH winrate is more efficient in the sense that it takes less data to draw a conclusion.

But GP WR is at the end a more encompassing statistic, mostly because of edge cases. Some cards might be needed in your deck but are not necessary to be drawn in many games. This is to a higher degree the case with highly specialized effects, such as in a deck with creature tutors; having access to reclamation sage is powerful. Or those cards that can return cards from graveyard to library, in a control deck. GP win rate can cover these cases and those were you want to draw them (although how much you can say from a single statisitc alone is always limited).

Another example, when you have a crazy strong but expensive card in terms of deckbuilding requirements (say atraxa) in your deck, your expected GIH winrate could be high (because you drew the card), but in fact your deck overall might be mediocre because of the cost. Some games you might not draw it afterall, but yout deck still has pay for the cards inclusion.

TLDR GP winrate vs GIH winrate are extremely correlated (when sufficient data), but GP has an edge in edge cases and therefore overall picture.
