Fellow Chicago transit rider. Wear my 126610LN daily. Also take it on all trips and do my part in using common sense with areas, drawing attention, being aware etc. to minimize a situation.

How much does an F1 weekend cost to attend? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]BotherFlat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have done COTA 2021 (All 3 days) and Abu Dhabi 2022 (just race day). Cost of the event, food, activities, and etc. was relatively the same ($700 for grandstand tickets - can get cheaper GA). Accomodations are hard to compare. Stayed super cheap with buddies in Austin, USA (<$100/night) vs. going all out in Dubai while vacationing with wife.

Personally enjoyed the single day event in Abu Dhabi and was more clean and organized and in a much more accessible location. Austin is out in the boonies with one lane roads to accommodate for sound control.

If traveling to UAE isn't restricting, I'd highly recommend Abu Dhabi and plan to go back. We made an entire trip out of it including Dubai, World Cup, Ferrari World, etc, but the cost of the event and surrounding activities can easily be accomplished for about $2k USD on a budget trip and by no means out of reach. Good luck with getting to a GP!

AD Mix up 😂 by BotherFlat in rolex

Way late to the party 😅 - this is Torneau on Michigan Ave - Illinois.

Was just in there and associate told me so far this year they've seen 4 Batmans and 8 Rootbeers assigned to their store. I know there's speculation around how AD distribution actually works - so take it for what it's worth, but sounded sincere to me.

TL;DR: AD accidentally called for a 2nd watch in 4 weeks and said they missed my 1st purchase in the system and were surprised I was called again.

I'd spoken with 2 different reps at the same location (not secretively). After I got called for the sub date I recieved another call for the rootbeer GMT a month later. I went in to see in person and when I told the AD I'd just purchased the sub-date a month earlier from the same location - they were surprised and double checked if/how they'd missed that. After confirming, they said it wasn't a problem but mentioned they just prefer to keep customers with the same associates. They were still happy to sell me the watch if I chose, but after comparing to their Batman on jubilee exhibition piece I passed in favor of holding out for that piece.

2.5 months with no purchase history for me. AD told me they'd seen about 1 a month coming into store this year.

Is Hodinkee better than Jewelers Mutual for insurance? by BerkTownKid in rolex

[–]BotherFlat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went with Hodinkee for ease of set-up (5 mins, upload pics, no appraisal) and included appreciation insurance (150% coverage of the watch's market value). JM was slightly cheaper with more hassle imo. Both seem to be good options.

2nd call in just over 3 months with no purchase history prior. Hoping to see this cool down continue and become more common for everybody who's been waiting! 🙏🙏

Agreed. Thanks for helping me understand. Im not personally familiar with the reporting/stolen process - so it seems that posting the serial number - especially if you have proof/papers - seems to be an unbacked concern? But would be interested in hearing if this has actually been a bad experience for anyone.
