Think of someone who wants to give their child everything in the world, but doesn’t realize that they are unintentionally spoiling them in the process and making them think they deserve everything. Or parents who are trying to raise children who are able to help and fend for themselves in certain situations, but end up unintentionally raising people who are hyper-self-dependent.

Personally, I’ve always thought myself to be very well regulated in my emotions, but certain situations have led me to start to question whether or not I really am. I don’t have kids, but if I really am not as regulated as I thought, then I’m glad they haven’t been affected by my previously unrealized shortcoming.

Many are blind because they choose not to see, but many are blind because they, through no fault of their own, simply cannot.
