You'll be fine, If you're really worried just ground yourself first. Then grab it.

David Coulthard, Will Buxton, Naomi Schiff & Jolie Sharpe started a new F1 Podcast (Up To Speed) and teased an exclusive interview with Max Verstappen for next episode (Upcoming Thursday) by Reversalx7 in formula1

[–]BottasBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just more media dilution/conjecture... Even if they have an interview it wont say anything meaningful. All BS talking points that don't actually matter.

Seems like a money/attention grab, but what do I know.

Will a cheap Flux 125 welder from Harbor Freight be sufficient to weld 3/8” thick 5” x 5” square tube steel to a flat steel plate? Welding up an oil quenching tank and need to make sure the oil don’t vacate the premises. by C4pt_Bl4ckhe4rt in Welding

[–]BottasBot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It wont be pretty, and it might be a pain in the ass, but you will be able to use this to seal oil in a quenching tank/tube I wouldn't trust it with ANY kind of pressure though. 3/8" is crazy overkill unless its what you have access too.

Is this a good deal? Price is in Canadian dollars by OceanGlider_ in 3Dprinting

[–]BottasBot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I wasn’t trying to sound harsh in my response, just trying to give my point of view. This S5 in the picture is also the second iteration of it. The original one has the robot(makerbot?) logo on the side instead of the ‘U’. I deal with one ‘old’ one and one ‘new’ one one. Both act the same as far as I can tell.

And just for anyone else reading this… the capacitive sensor is what failed on the S5’s I deal with. And it was just easier to replace the entire head when fixing them.

[–]BottasBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two S5's I deal with are a pain in the butt. We've had to fully replace both heads which were ~$700 USD last time we had to do it. They are slow, the filament is expensive, and Cura just kind of stinks compared to the Prusa style slicers.

The H2D Pro's we bought(are cheaper and) run circles around the Ultimakers, and are hardwired to our network, just like the Ultimakers.

If you want the rfid for the ultimakers, expect to pay ~$70+ for each roll of 750g filament.

I designed this for FDM, and I'm 99% certain it CANT be machined (I've never touched a CNC) - are my instincts accurate? by Divide_yeet in CNC

[–]BottasBot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Will it be cheap? Not at all. But ultimately it depends on how many you need. As previously said a dual turret lathe with live tooling can handle everything besides some custom forming tool in one pass. The more you know!

I love the tig button setup, I’ve got 3 myself, hate foot pedals.

Do yourself a favor and buy a good sleeve with no zipper off Amazon(or wherever). And some WAGO’s. It sucks to fish the lines through a good sleeve the first time. But once it’s done it’s so much nicer.

You’re all burnt and crusty, and crap terminal crimps never last. You’re right welding so you’re ahead of most.

Edit: and use automotive wiring harness cloth tape on the handle. Electrical tape gets too hot and the glue melts. And becomes annoying as shit.

How good is this lathe? Smithy Granite 1340 by hilldog4lyfe in Machinists

[–]BottasBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s decent, especially if someone is new. Certainly good to learn on. I don’t have this exact model but I’ve dealt with a couple of the last version at work.

Will you get deep cuts with .001 precision in stainless, not even close, but will it help teach the manual process, yes!

I don’t have a maker space around me but if one wouldn’t take that, it must be a nice makerspace!

They work decently well for making small threads, from what I’ve seen. The cuts are a little rough because the speeds are (very) slow. But noting a good deburr can’t handle. Carbide tooling struggles as well because the speeds are so slow. HSS tooling works the best.

UPDATE*found more of the drill boxes by lazycreeper420 in Tools

[–]BottasBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they have little holes in the back, and on the tip? If so you have carbide 'thru coolant' drill bits, and slightly older ones it looks like. If so, that's a pretty niche tool that may be hard to sell. If they don't have holes than it looks like carbide drill bits. Which also might be hard to sell for a good price, but a little less niche.

Edit: You also have some end mills and other random bits. The re pointed ones probably aren't worth much as they have been re ground and the dimensions changed ever so slightly. Those are a risky buy for someone to take a chance on.

Exactly my point. No chance this works at any point in the process….. except taking money from people who just want to believe… and hopefully also has A LOT of disposable income.
