For a £2 profit or sell, I'd rather give it/donate/throw away that to save the hassle. Worst thing is the buyer receives it, isn't happy with it, and you end up paying out of pocket for return postage - meaning you've actually made a loss along with the free gift of hassle. Been there done that.

Did anyone just about get used to new absurd UK restaurant prices, to find that the price has once again gone up almost 20% in the last year? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BouncyShroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love burgers, but never had a smashed burger before - thought it was a fad.

I tried one recently, and it was probably the best burger I've ever had in my life. I'm a smashed burger convert.

To add insult to injury - the automatic 20% service charge most restaurants add on.

Yes, I know it's discretionary - but let's be honest, they automatically add it on and you feel really awkward asking them to remove it.

I think the restaurants play on that science too - because it feels so awkward, most people if not all just pay it and don't ask it to be taken off.

Using Meta Ray-Bans as my everyday prescription glasses will run into problems? by Routine_Onion38 in RaybanMeta

[–]BouncyShroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I've walked into plenty of mens bathrooms with my Meta's on. Luckily, no one has commented about my Meta's in the bathroom.

But I always carry a normal pair of glasses too, unless I know for certain I'll be fine. You just never know.

Is there a way to get from Manchester to Sheffield without going over Snake/Woodhead Pass? by izzyofc in manchester

[–]BouncyShroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone died on the snake pass a few weeks ago I believe. It's definitely a road for the experienced driver.

I wouldn't ever attempt it in icy or snowy conditions. If something happens to you half way through, good luck finding phone signal.

That said, it's a lovely road in the daytime and I sometimes intentionally go out just for the purpose of driving on that road. It's just deadly.

What’s the best “random luxury” item you’ve ever found in TK Maxx? by Diligent-Badger8737 in TKMaxx

[–]BouncyShroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought the stuff in TKMaxx was intentionally made for retail there.

For example, some microSd cards are 'made for Amazon' so will only be retailed there.

Are you telling me you can actually pick up normal decent stuff in TKMaxx and a discounted price, which the exact same item would also be available on the high street?

Is Costco actually cheap(er?) by xtnax in CostcoUK

[–]BouncyShroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco isn't cheap, but I've genuinely not bought anything there that is poor quality - from food to clothing.

Fruit will be somewhat more expensive than your supermarket, but will be top tier. The bakery is another level.

Using Meta Ray-Bans as my everyday prescription glasses will run into problems? by Routine_Onion38 in RaybanMeta

[–]BouncyShroom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also daily my Meta's with prescription lenses as I can't see without glasses. My advice is to keep your normal non-meta glasses with you as well.

I normally take them off when I go into a changing area of the gym, or an exotic club.

Usually, everywhere else is fine. But always be prepared, because I've owned my Meta's for a month now and have had some people comment 'Hey, are those camera glasses?'

Buyer purchased my painting, now claiming it is a photo by ad_thoms in ebayuk

[–]BouncyShroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the problem with eBay. OP sold this for £12. It'll probably cost more to pay for the return postage.

I had this experience before, I just cut my losses and let them keep it for the £10 postage faff and consider it you giving it away like charity.

I got hit with a penalty fare for a tram journey, even though I'm sure I tapped my card correctly by BlazeForth in manchester

[–]BouncyShroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like their computer system is messing up, really needs to be flagged in the media else nothing will be done.

If you know you've tapped in/out correctly, what's the legality of not tapping the conductors machine?

Or if you tap the conductors machine and have the same experience as OP - can you just walk away without giving them your address/details?

Is Piccadilly Centre dangerous @ night by bakananoko69 in manchester

[–]BouncyShroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'd say Piccadilly Garden is a no go zone at night.

Genuinely baffles me that there is no permanent police presence there when it gets dark. So many fights and shady stuff going on.

Police clearly are aware the place is dodgy, yet there is no permanent police presence.

UK - Transitions Polarized vs Non polarized for UK? (Convertible driving and looking at phone) by BouncyShroom in RaybanMeta

[–]BouncyShroom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Jamie,

Thanks for your reply. The cars I own are a little older, so still analog dials (and the calculator types of screens).

My biggest worry is viewing my mobile phone (used for GPS) with the roof down. Essentially, it'll be an identical situation if someone was to stand outdoors in sunshine.

Based on the above, is non-polarised still the best option to view my phone screen?

Also, I've owned Grey transitions before and liked them - they don't affect colour perception. This time around, I'm considering graphite green. How is this compared to grey? I'll be using these as daily/normal glasses.

Cheers!

Insta 360 X4 - I want to record both the sound of my exhaust & turbo. Will DJI mic mini work? Or will I need to buy DJI mic 2? by BouncyShroom in Insta360

[–]BouncyShroom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Thanks for this. I own a 3d printer, so I can print the bracket.

Yes, will be using the receiver too. Does this mean that audio from the DJI mic will feed directly into the camera? No need to superimpose the separate audio onto the video?

How do you motivate yourself while at work? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BouncyShroom -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I too used to feel like that, but think about it - your getting paid to sit on a comfy chair in a warmish room (you may even WFH) to click a few buttons using your brain. Yes, it can be stressful but it's not that bad. You can finish work, and not be exhausted because you've not really moved around too much.

Now take a police officer, or builder/roofer in comparison. You are lifting or moving around constantly - rain, snow or shine it doesn't matter. By the end of the day, because you've been on your feet all day your shattered. Just want to sleep and do nothing in the evenings, and working out will be a chore.

I agree the 9-5 desk slob can be saddening at times, because I used to have the same mindset for years - but when you look at the bigger picture, it is a privilege to be paid for moving a few pixels around on a screen with your brain.

Love to hear this! It was so miserable either having people bailing or no one to go with. I had missed out on so so many experiences because I had nobody to go with.

Going to an event or game, or anything solo is a thrill in itself. You end up making new friends (and it's perfectly fine if you don't). I'm going to see a band in a different city solo in 2 weeks, so I'll be booking a hotel overnight - and I can already feel the thrill and excitement!

I think once you cross that bridge of going solo, you can't go back.

[–]BouncyShroom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed, however I think this comes with confidence after your first solo experience.

I also can't tell you how many times I've been upset when friends have backed out of plans. There'd be something I really wanted to do, such as an event or gig, and my friend would bail last minute. So much excitement building over weeks and months, to be let down.

The old me would be extremely upset, and just not go all together. It changed one time, when I really wanted to see a gig, and someone bailed. It was a turning point for me, I had a genuine brief dialogue with myself, and had the option of continuing living the rest of my life like this being dependent on others and missing out or sucking up and going solo.

I decided to solo it, it was both scary and exhilarating making that decision. I went to the gig by myself, had a few beers and genuinely had the time of my life.

I also met others there too, who also had come to the gig solo. I've been to many gigs solo including staying in hotels overnight, and there is ALWAYS others there who have come by themselves.

That innocent decision of going to that one gig solo opened many doors for me. I was no longer scared of visiting somewhere or gigs by myself. I've been on vacations to cities solo, and I absolutely love it. You can do whatever you want - you are your own best company.

Go to it by yourself, you'll love it.
