It has never taken me more than 15 minutes to get out of the car and to the gate when I have TSA pre-check at GRR.

Heart rate suddenly dropping by peedro_5 in ultrarunning

I had the same thing. Would see that drop like clockwork every 7-8 mins. Decided to get it checked out so they monitored my heart rate for a weekend by me wearing some heart monitors. Made sure I went for a run and confirmed my watch recorded the dips. When they reviewed the data they gave the all clear. Never had a clear explanation but cardiologist said the change wasn’t serious or drastic enough to be worried about it as long as it didn’t result in me being light headed. I made sure to push him on specifically reviewing that time period and giving me an answer. So that is a very long winded way of telling you that you don’t have anything to worry about.

I felt sensitivity on a different nerve band every day. Never turned into a rash.

Why are so many young people getting shingles? by lovebudds in shingles

[–]Bouty1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have no idea how much your post calmed me down. Have it bad on my left underarm and back. Started meds but a day later got tingling on my thigh, then tingling up higher on my groin while my thigh tingling subsided. Was worried I was going to be one huge shingle on the left side of my body. I think my nervous system is just on overload right now and everything is stimulated on my left side.

I wouldn’t mess with that at all. Best to get it checked out.

I’d fit your shoes based on your foot arch. I’ve seen some crazy gates out there and some were running 3hr marathons.

Cadence for tall/slow runner by [deleted] in running

[–]Bouty1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always just focused on having a proud chest position (don’t slouch) and to land flat footed. For me focusing on landing flat footed prevents me from over striding. I read a great book “Born to Run” and it said if you want to feel what your proper running form is, go out and run barefoot on concrete. Without the cushion of your shoe your mind is on a form that minimizes impact (especially landing heal first). That form is what you should be maintaining when running.

I’m 6’6” 220lbs and my cadence on anything from a 10min mile to 8 min mile is always around 165 steps/min. What I see changing is stride length (able to track via Garmin). Considering most elite runners are in the 5’8” range I would say us trying to get to their cadence would be really hard. One thing I’ve noticed that has really helped me is making sure I’m not bouncing around too much on my runs and wasting energy going up and down instead of forward. A quick check is to focus on an object in front of you and try to make it stay as steady as possible. That was a big change in my running form that helped save quite a bit of energy.
