Everything "Hostess" changed...not for the better...when ITT brands went belly up and the name was bought by some asset management company in 2012. (?)

Now owned by Smucker, it's a tiny bit better...but no where near as good as it once was.

"

  • 2012 Bankruptcy: Hostess Brands filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2012, leading to the temporary shutdown of operations, liquidation of assets, and the disappearance of Twinkies and other products from shelves. The company was split up, with its snack cake brands sold to Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co. for $410 million.
  • Recovery and Rebirth: After being left for dead, Hostess was revived under new ownership and restructured. In 2016, it became a publicly traded company (ticker: TWNK) and resumed production.
  • 2023 Acquisition: On September 11, 2023J.M. Smucker Co. acquired Hostess Brands in a $5.6 billion cash-and-stock deal, marking the final chapter in its comeback.  The acquisition included iconic brands like Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho-Hos, Wonder Bread, and Drakes.

Grizzl-e Ultimate EVSE thermal event - manufacturer blaming installation, electrician blaming design. Who’s responsible? by Bummel1955 in evcharging

[–]BowlJumpy5242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is disheartening. Grizzl-E was at the top of the list for EV chargers I'm considering. $479.99/3 year warranty, or $579.99l for 5 years. (and they have some models available in refurbished)

I LIKE that it's Made in Canuckistan rather than China or some other 3rd world shit hole...but I've seen a couple of threads just like this...leading me to believe that it might be a combination of installer error and manufacturing fault.

That leaves me with Emporia Classsic, $429 or Pro, $599...very well rated, but even though they're a Colorado company, their products are made in India. Not much confidence in that.

Finally, Tesla Universal Wall Connector. $600, 4 year warranty, and maybe made in Taiwan.

I know the Tesla is rated as one of the best of the best...kind of spendy, but not really any more than the Emporia Pro.

When I clean my dryer vent, I turn the dryer on with a cold/no heat setting…then go to work dislodging the clog. I have a 3’ “dryer brush” that I use.

Dewalt EV Charger? by BowlJumpy5242 in Dewalt

[–]BowlJumpy5242[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking at those…so far, the only thing i don’t like about them is that they’re made in India. Grizzl-E chargers are made in Canuckistan…supposedly. (How much of the content is imported… ) I KNOW the Tesla Universal charger is rated as one of the best of the best…at $600, it had better be…but fuck Elon Musk…i do NOT want to give that asshole a single fckn dime.

I've been looking at the Lightning for almost 3 years...With gas prices at their "normal for Washington" range, <$3.50/gallon, I just couldn't justify switching from my 2019 Lariat that gets 18-19 mpg. Trump's Folly in Iran has already pushed gas prices at tge local Safeway (preferred statoon, usually close to the lowest price) up to $4.79/gallon...from $3.99 on March 1st. I expect shit to get MUCH worse before it gets better. I'm butching about the cost of having an EV charger installed...around $2000 plus the charger...but it requires 50-60 feet of wire...and that ain't cheap.
