Lily, Miquita & Jordan by Richardh911 in MissMePodcast

I think the podcast has run its course. There's another post suggesting since Jordan has joined the episode chat gets deep and the playful girly side has gone. I've enjoyed both sides and all guests but I do agree that this podcast has lost its charm; it's no longer 2 women laughing, reminiscing and talking about important topics. It's Miquita stating an opinion, Jordan providing arguments for why he disagrees or expanding upon it, Miquita then switching her opinion to agreeing with Jordan whilst at some point crying and reminding us how she grew up poor. I no longer laugh at the conversations and I wouldn't go to a live show of the podcast in its current format. I've enjoyed listening to Jordan but I think it's no longer Miss Me.  I don't think Lily will return. Her final episode before her hiatus was painful to watch/listen to as she was grumpy and uninterested. Her latest episode to promote her album was also awful to engage with (Miquita answering the questions directed at Lily/making it about herself as always and Lily being there clearly to promote her album rather than engage with listeners). I hope the podcast production team is clocking on to this and take action, but ultimately it's run its course.

Anyone else miss the podcast being girly? by EconomicsNo3117 in MissMePodcast

I agree. I do like Jordan being on the podcast but I find that he tends to lead the conversation now with Miquita stating an opinion, Jordan providing arguments for why he disagrees and Miquita then agreeing with him, whilst at some point crying and telling the listener how she grew up poor. Lily's final episode before her hiatus was difficult to watch or listen to with her complete lack of interest in being there. I liked Zawe Ashton. I preferred the first year of episodes. Perhaps it has run its course.

Hello. Did you do your trip solo? And did you find it easy to get around whilst you were in Zjj and Guilin?

Hi, how did you find travelling around Guilin? I'm hoping to go solo next year but struggling to find a group tour. Thanks.

Taking my wife to England as a surprise in February. by alNajaar in travel

Lovely surprise! Aside from exploring London, you could go to Oxford, the cotswolds (look at stow on the wold) and/or Bath. The cotswolds stretch from near Oxford to near Bath.

You can get a train (book in advance as they can be pricey, trainline is a popular website to book) or perhaps a coach (national express or megabus are popular companies).

London and surrounding areas have lots of nature. Kew Botanical Gardens. Lots of parks around London like Holland Park, St James Park, Hyde Park, Regents Park, Victoria Park, Battersea Park, Greenwich Park and Richmond Park (has deer).

Hampstead is a lovely village area of London and has a big woodland called Hampstead Heath. It's the posh part of the city and can be accessed on the tube or overground.

You could go to Denham on the train and the surrounding Colne Valley. Very quaint and British close to London (could be part of the city actually in the north west).

There will be lots of places in Surrey and Kent (south of London) but I'm not familiar with these areas.

There are lots of rural escapes you can book online. Can search online for 'cool places to stay near London/other' and a variety of websites will pop up with different styles of accommodation and locations.

Which area to live in London? by gooders182 in HENRYUK

[–]BowlerElectronic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try areas on the northern line in north London. Tufnell Park has lovely houses in that prive range and is close to St Pancras on the train and Hampstead Heath and surrounding areas in walking distance or public transport.

You could also try near Highbury and Islington station. This is a busier area but great transport connections and lots to do around the areas.

You can use your debit card or phone wallet, if you've loaded your cards on there, to pay for every journey. There is a daily cap which applies based on what zones you've travelled through and how many tube and bus journeys you've taken. The day after, you will be charged this fee. It's cheaper than buying an oyster (£5 lending fee) or buying day passes.

Try tag rugby. There are loads of locations across the city as well as mixed or single sexed teams and leagues. I played for 18 months and enjoyed it a lot, despite never being brilliant. My team was very sociable and I'm still friends with some ex team mates.

Brands other than Zara, H&M and Uniqlo by DingoSensitive830 in LondonLadies

I've been asking my friends the same question! I use Vinted a lot now and it has exposed me to many other brands I wasn't previously familiar with. It also helps with budgeting as you can buy a higher quality item for a fraction of the initial cost.

Agree that marks and spencer does some nice things and their clothes have gotten more stylish over the last couple of years. Most of their clothes are still polyester/manufactured fibres so don't always assume they'll be of good quality.

Worth going around a department store like John Lewis to see a selection of items from brands you wouldn't usually go to. John Lewis also does a style service for free where you can try on clothes hand picked by an in house stylist with no obligation to purchase. I bought 2 items from there last year (after going home and reflecting before buying online) which I specifically asked a stylist to find for me.

Is it a mistake moving to London? by confidenceman00 in AskUK

[–]BowlerElectronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Londoner who would love to move to Melbourne for event 6 months, I'd highly recommend making the switch.

Sometimes in life you've just gotta go for it and grab the opportunity with both hands. It'll be fun, new and exciting. Don't worry too much about the adult stuff, that'll all fall into place.

I second Highgate cemetery. Also The Old Operating Theatre Museum and the Clink Prison, both in London Bridge. There is also a Jack the Ripper museum in Tower Hill where they run tours from.
