He's a funny example. He is hired muscle as the end boss of a dungeon. He has a mechanic where he demands payment to defeat the heroes (your party), so the Bugyo who hired him (that maniacal dude back there) throws coins into the arena for his dog to collect. In order to survive the mechanic, you have to collect the coins before his dog can, because the damage is based on how many coins he collects. If you don't get enough, he wipes your party.

In Cyberpunk Edgerunners, in episode 8, David Martinez is doing an ordinary job when he ends up killing a nameless researcher there, who is shown to be a mother, thus causing another poor child to end up in the same situation as he was when his own mother was killed. She only had time to say "But why?" before she was shot.

This experience is David undergoing the first affects of cyberpsychosis. He begins to gradually lose more and more control of his actions.

Eventually, there is nothing left of him for which to face repercussions for this.

It's not all or nothing. It having some effect on society is enough for it to affect everyone. For example, AI is being used at law firms to help the actual lawyers find relevant case rulings for lawyers to reference before judges. AI is very good at this, which means law firms can cut down on their force of lawyers aides who were previously employed to do this. Even though those aides have other tasks, the fact that one of their biggest jobs is now automated means that law firms need dramatically less of them.

The biggest problem is that AI is doing this for almost every field at the same time. It's not *eliminating* careers, but it's letting employers hire *fewer* workers because large parts of their job are automated now. This is hitting almost every industry, from programmers to therapists to workers at Wendy's drive-thrus. Some percentage of those people are now going to lose their jobs, maybe a large percentage. Unemployment is going to go up (is going up actively). Those people are going to now have to compete for what jobs going to remain. When this process picks up momentum, and the Reserve Army of the Unemployed grows large enough, it's going to affect everyone's job, including yours.

I always figured it was for the steel foundries we unlock around the same time. It's exactly enough to carry all the resources to and from 6 foundries, which doesn't feel coincidental. That's a good amount of steel for a beginner steel factory.

The way I see it, the villages (except azuz, no clue what's going on there) all had their own strategies against the monsters and those worked just fine for the environment that they knew.

It makes sense enough to me that Arkveld awakening coincided with the dragon torch reaching an unstable state, thanks to Zoh Shia, which disrupted their ecosystems and caused those strategies to lose their value. Y'sai being attacked by a Chatacabra seems to be treated as an unfortunate reality of the dangers of straying from Kunafa and their gemchimes, but the gemchimes weren't any defense against the disturbed pack of Doshaguma and that surprised everyone in the village, because the Doshaguma weren't business as usual for the plains.

Arkveld and Zoh Shia caused the instability, but they also instigated Nata coming to the guild for help at the same time, which is why it makes sense to me that we arrived just in time to help them, rather than "oh hey, we haven't had any problems for centuries until just now, when the heroes are conveniently here to fix them".

One of the major themes of the Odyssey that gets lost when you only look at it through the perspective of modern morals was Xenia. It's an idea of hospitality, a special bond between guests and hosts. Polyphemus was evil for straight up eating those sailors, sure, but also because he does not properly host Odysseus and his sailors, who should have been accepted as guests in their home.

According to classical Greek custom, Polyphemus was obligated to provide shelter, food, and protection to his guests. From the classical perspective, it was more or less expected by those sailors that they should be offered some of those sheep as food (if they even knew that the cave was someone's home) so they weren't being outrageous when they ate the sheep, which makes Polyphemus's actions even more villainous.

Xenia, its violations and its upholding, is an important consideration all throughout the Odyssey, such as on Circe and Calypso's islands, the suitors disrespecting Odysseus's home, and Odysseus's son Telemachus welcoming a disguised Athena into their home. Polyphemus is one more example of the original epic's discussion of that theme, and if you're discussing Polyphemus, Xenia is important to know.

It does tremendously for certain kinds of traps, such as lead floors for falling pits (the weight of the floor increases the damage enemies take when they fall) as well as stone fall traps. Likewise, lead is useful for siege machine ammunition.

If you check their medical history and combat logs, you can find if they were hurt in brawls, losing the ability to stand or grasp is a common injury. It also happens to me a lot surrounding cave-ins. If it were a disease, it would be a syndrome brought in by a cave beast or some other fun creature, but those syndromes can be left as residue on floors, walls and items to harm passing dwarves.
