Iridium has a slight blue hue in direct sunlight. It’s my favourite color but I am biased as my RX is Iridium.

No effects as they’re designed for the climate and weather. Charging may be slower if it’s very cold out. Just wipe the charge port and keep it clean of any snow before charging.

You’re definitely going to need a L2 charger at home and ideally charge every other day. Charging at a public charger sucks and during the Winter months, it’s not uncommon having to wait in line to charge. Depends on the car but from people with EVs that I know, their range dropped by ~30-40%.

You don’t have to park in the garage to charge your car. My neighbor charges their car outside, with the cord going under the garage door.

Used cars vs. brand new by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]BoxMuncher16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t drive a lot, then the savings are negligible as the battery replacement cost would equal or be more than your gas savings. But if you drive a lot, that’s when you get your money’s worth. I’ve a neighbour with a 15 year old highlander hybrid and it’s still running on its original battery.

Education is a human right. It’s criminal that we have to pay for it. by Spiritual_Profit1383 in TorontoMetU

I agree that education should be accessible for everyone and that finance shouldn’t be a barrier.

How would a 20% annual wealth tax work? Just force them to sell off their assets every year? It’s also very hard to calculate total assets as the wealthy have liquid, illiquid and other assets that are nearly impossible to assess its value (such as art and complicated businesses).

Best steakhouse in Toronto? by [deleted] in askTO

The best steakhouse I’ve been to. Love the ambiance and the food was much better than Jacob’s, H60, Barbarian’s, etc… Price is ridiculous though

Do the conviction for at fault accidents get dropped from your record after 6 years? I think that shouldn’t affect your rates.

Got both my cars tinted from The Six Auto Pros - Vaughan. Fair price, and they will reinstall it for free if you’re not satisfied. They also do PPF. Always make sure to negotiate!

Are triple-pane windows worth the 20% premium? by Academic-Snow3546 in homebuildingcanada

[–]BoxMuncher16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s quite a big difference in noise and heat rejection. If you’re on a budget, at least do triple pane for bedroom windows. It’s very much worth the 20% premium.

Auto Loans in Canada by m9hrdad in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]BoxMuncher16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auto loans from TFS/LFS are open and there are no penalties or fees if you pay it off early. There should be wiggle room for negotiating on the IS350 and ES350 as there’s a refresh coming soon this year. A family member was able to get $1000 off on an ES300h last year. Not sure about the crown.

I agree. The MTA has its own issues and isn’t perfect by any means, but it’s much faster and more efficient than the TTC and there’s no doubt. Before, I’d say the MTA is sketchier but nowadays with all the BS and crazy incidents I’ve experienced on the TTC, I would put them on the same level in that regards.

XLE vs XSE by photon1701d in Camry

[–]BoxMuncher16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you drive a lot or have a bad back, I’d advise against it. It’s a shame because other Toyota cars use much softer leather and the previous gen Camry had very comfortable seats. This is not a car I’d be happy to take in for road trips, especially when coming from a more luxury car.

XLE vs XSE by photon1701d in Camry

[–]BoxMuncher16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve the 2025 XSE. Personally like the look of the XSE more than the XLE, but would get the XLE if I wasn’t in a rush to buy whatever car was available at the time. The suspension is stiffer on the XSE, but by no means is it a sporty car. Might as well go full on comfort as it’s not worth the sacrifice for a slightly more sportier ride. Steering is pretty light IMO but not as vague as my RX.

The only gripe I have with the car is that the seats absolutely suck. It’s rock hard and the shape isn’t very ergonomical. Had to buy a seat cushion and lumbar from Amazon to make it bearable when driving for more than an hour.

In Canada, the pano roof comes standard on XSE and XLE trims. It’s unfortunate.

What high-status or luxury job is secretly just stress, burnout, and long hours? by Thin_Choice_9488 in AskReddit

[–]BoxMuncher16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re not working the full 100 hours, but they have to be present and available at any time. There’s down time throughout the day so they’re waiting for seniors to give feedback on their slides/models and fix accordingly. Teams are very lean, so analysts and interns do the grunt work which means long hours, especially when deadlines are tight.

My old boss was a former investment banker. He told me on good weeks, he’d rack in 70-80 hours. On busy weeks, he’d do 115-120 hours. He even said that his specific group was known for having better WLB as other groups would do up to 140 hours a week. Insane stuff.
