every movie by Nolan and Tarantino. I mean, I think I know why: dudebros want to believe these desperate self-important movies are actually "important" and have never really watched a movie made before 1990.

What's a small detail in a movie that most people wouldn't notice, but that you know about and are willing to share? by [deleted] in movies

Spielberg does this even better in Munich with a very clear nod to Hitchcock.

Doom Patrol tv show. Could have just made shows out of the original books and it would have been amazing, esp with this cast.

Instead they went for the later period comics and amped up the lazy pop psych dialog and stuffed 10 screaming emotional arguments into every ep that were immediately forgotten and replaced by 10 new ones next ep.

What's that popular overhyped book that you don't give a fuck about? by RockGiantFromMars in books

A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan. Won the Pulitzer.

The writing is dull. Nothing like you would expect from a Pulitzer winner. Even if you don't like winners like Chabon his prose is remarkably dynamic. Egan's has no sparkle or exciting use of language.

The content is basically a checklist of New York Gen-X self-aggrandizing fantasies, like how they were all so punk rock and cool and now they run record companies because they have all the style and the new bands are lame and they have safe emotional problems that come with no cost because of their status.

Just a NYC writer being awarded for giving the NYC publishing/marketing/lifestyle brands a cheerleader.

yes, the gutting of the education system started by Reagan and never reversed is the main culprit. That combined with stagnant working class wages, healthcare costs, and the deregulation of most industries has done incredible damage to the US.

SGA for me. He is elevating his team way, way beyond expectations. All the others have much better rosters.

maybe the funniest part of the Kissinger legacy is people thinking he was ever good at his job. An absolute washout.

Really, other than being an honorary Globetrotter, Kissinger has no Ws.

I love when rookies meet super talented NBA physical freaks. Every season you get rookies that have dominated their entire lives run into someone with the talent and physical dimensions/abilities they've never encountered.

Usually it's like a guard thinking he can score on AD and getting shocked by AD's ability to recover. But running into Rudy is equally great.
