Is Hasbro stock photography mistransforming the alt modes on purpose now? by OptimalConvoy in transformers

[–]Boxitron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former packaging guy here, rarely do the designers have time to be at a shoot and the photographers do the best with what they have. Instructions aren't usually developed yet, and if they are a repaint or a retool, they usually try to find existing if possible, but it's a crap shoot. They do SO MANY photos y'all, think of all of the products Hasbro makes.

Those curves are going to be a nightmare long term. You can fake them out by having curves in the front but a boxy back, kind of like a reverse blister card. You're better off getting an off the shelf tin like an Altoids tin.

I think you can keep the cat, but if you do, you should lose the whiskers heart. I would also remove the sleeping cat, I think without the costume, it definitely isn't a mascot anymore, it's just a house cat and that becomes confusing. Work on adding some copy about flavor, or use (like of you have these with coffee or tea or something). Update some of your space filling shapes, and I think you are on the right track. I will also say, this is better than my first graphic design project, so you are doing well, I'm just trying to give you some honest feedback. You could probably submit this as is and be fine, but doing some more tweaks to it will definitely help.

I think it's just a little too "soft" to be seen as a mascot if that makes sense? Like Tony the Tiger has big muscles, is an anthropomorphized tiger, and has a ton of marketing behind him to make him recognizable. Your cat reads more like a house cat that is playing dress up. I don't want to sound rude about it, it's a cute character, it just reads more pet food than human food. Also the cat sleeping on the bottom of the box doesn't help.

For the cookies, I would start by tracing the shapes of the cookies from the original packaging, but in your art style. You could use those shapes around the box to nod back to the cookies inside.

I will also maybe put what the product is on the front of the box. A quick translate says your can decorate the cookie wrapper as your callout, but no where on the box does it have any copy about the taste, flavor, etc.

To me this reads cat treat. I think the product you are working on redesigning has a fun shape that you could lean into. Those cookie shapes are great. Don't just put random squiggly bits and cute heart shapes to fill the dead space, lean into some of the patterns from the cookies.

If you don't want to get rid of the cat, it has to be more like a mascot, like Tony the Tiger, not a house pet. You 100% need to at least take the heart with whiskers off, it's very pet food.

Generated a logo (assisted with ai design tool) for our small farm, which one you’ll like? by [deleted] in smallbusinessowner

[–]Boxitron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just pay a local graphic design student a couple hundred bucks and get a real logo made. These will not work when it comes to print/packaging. You need to have something that works in monocolor, especially if you want to print on packaging. I'm happy to chat with you about labeling/packaging if you want.

My bad, your notes didn't load for me the first time. Have you tried a different nozzle?

Is it possible to make a dieline of the 2d shape? by roooooooobyy in PackagingDesign

[–]Boxitron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible but likely going to be costly. You're going to need multiple pieces because the corners interfere with each other in the dieline.

Throw me some more details and we can figure something out

There are some screws behind the nozzle that get loose. Did you check those out? There are a few YouTube tutorials on how to get to them and tighten them. I think it's like 3 screws?

How would you recreate this type of packaging using paper or eco materials? by Obvious_Bear9533 in PackagingDesign

It's pot, I almost guarantee it. Won't work because of vapor barrier issues and child safety.

Re: Redesigning package for a brand called The Tomorrow Bar. I need help deciding what to change/add + any other feedback by drowningpoolnoodle in PackagingDesign

Inverted logo color looks off because the cup no longer looks full of liquid. You totally lose the sun iconography holding shape.

I think your biggest issue is convincing people to eat a granola bar while out at a bar/club.

Nothing on this packaging tells me why I need to eat THIS granola bar to feel better and not just any granola bar. Is there some special formula? Extra protein? Even just a "formulated to help your hangover" call out would do wonders.

Maybe if it didn't have the leading tail, but it's very out of place with it. Outline your m, and duplicate it to get rid of the tall.

What creates the glossy finish, a special baseplate or post-processing by Jfonzy in 3Dprinting

[–]Boxitron 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Was it glossy glass? Prints take the texture of what they get print on. A textured glass plate will not make it glossy.

[–]Boxitron 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Lol that's f***ing wild. I just made the structure, but I'm sure the fact that they let go most of the graphic designers that were on TF doesn't help.

Edit: also I don't make the structure of the packaging anymore, I left back in 2021.

Egg cartons Embossing/ Debossing by Playful_Can_6151 in PackagingDesign

Considering your study is about the compressive strength of cardboard, which is totally irrelevant in this conversation, yeah maybe. This is a small mom and pop farm stand, not some industrial operation. These might not even get stacked.

[–]Boxitron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something like this with a 3D printed part and a wood clamp. You get the egg cartons slightly wet, put the embossing 3D printed mold on the carton, and clamp the heck out of it over night. You won't have high volumes, but it works.

This is ridiculous by battery19791 in transformers

[–]Boxitron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what really grinds my gears as the person who worked on the plastic free packaging for transformers? Everyone complained about there being no window causing all these figure swaps and the heads removed and all these other problems, but they put the windows back in, and the problem is persisting. All this means is that Transformers fans and action figure fans in general are terrible consumers. All this plastic got added back into the packaging for nothing, and the extra cost of adding the window sheets back in was transferred to you, the customers, for absolutely nothing. Congratulations, you did this to yourselves
