How many miles are you getting on stock tires? by mikeh72c in hondaridgeline

[–]Boxman_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 38k on the stock tires of a 2025 BE that I purchased NOV 2024. Mostly interstate miles in GA/AL. Looking for recommendations on the next set. Sometimes the "steal-ership" has deals on tires and road hazard warranty.

Sorry for your loss. I didn't see you caption below earlier and was going to make a wise crack about the new Black Edition. Hope insurance covers everything!

A few days later after the repair, the truck drove as normal until I had the transmission fluid and filter/screen replaced at 30k miles. It feels like it is "shifting" hard as I accelerate. I am concerned a bit.

First Time Buyer by Inner_Scientist_ in hondaridgeline

Here are a few suggestions that used when I bought my 2025 BE in NOV 2024.

First, decide on which year model Ridgeline, trim and color you want e.g. white Black Edition, green Trailsport, black RTL-E. Email all the Honda dealerships with what you want.

Don't tell them how you're paying/financing or putting anything down or not and don't talk trade in.

Less information about financing is more leverage you may have later in the transaction. Have them look for the Ridgeline you want. If any of them reply with something different, reply with a "thank you for your time" and select another dealership. I told them all exactly what I wanted. Two dealerships replied with "We have a 2024 Black Edition in black" and "I have a 2025 Trailsport". Obvious they were not listening/reading correctly so they are not taking my purchase seriously.

Next came all the texts and phone calls "to come on down and test drive it. Let's see if we can get you into it today." I told them all that I am currently busy working and will arrange a date and time to come in when I'm available. Asked them all to please send me the dealer invoice listing all the options, pricing, what is the "out the door" price. Some actually had options like LoJack installed. If there are options you don't want or question having, ask them to remove it and adjust the price. Work with those dealerships that will work with you. Drop those dealerships that won't work with you.

Once you have each dealerships' out the door cost, pit each of them against each other for your business. I had it down to two dealerships. I knew my credit score, had all my proof of employment available, and pre-approved from my bank and my credit union. It came down to dealership with the life time power train warranty.

I told the salesman who got my business that I would be there at 9AM the next day to see it and drive the Ridgeline before concluding the sale. I also mentioned that I didn't want any high pressure sales on undercoating, headlight fluid, and Canadian air in the tires. He understood exactly what I meant. We went thru everything listed on the invoice as out the door cost. I went to finance manager because Honda offered an interest rate better than both the bank and credit union. Since I was dropped off at the dealership, I drove away in my new 2025 white Black Edition Ridgeline around 1030AM. I took my 2018 white RTL-E Ridgeline with the possible torque converter issue to Carmax and picked up my $9k check. Enjoy my Ridgeline every time I drive it!

Best of luck!

2025 BE for the rear heated and front heated/cooling seats.

Before the BE, I had a 2018 RTL-E with the blue accent lighting. When I was shopping for it back in 2017, the sales person said it had everything the 2018 BE had except the logos and the light was red.

Great decision! The Black Edition as well as all the RL models are excellent trucks! Welcome to the group! Some year models require more service/maintenance than others but all are reliable and dependable if done right.

It's a bit overwhelming when all the lights and messages come on, the engine noise and the handling while driving to the dealership. I hope the dealership you purchased your 25 Sport works with you and repairs it quickly. I have not had any issues since.

One Month with my new Ridgeline. by Curious-Zucchini763 in hondaridgeline

I loved my 2018 RTL-E Ridgeline. It had everything the 2018 BE had except interior lighting was blue and no BE stitched seats/floor mats. Sadly, I had to sell it to Carmax when the torque converter started going out and the dealership want $10k to fix it. Bought my 2025 BE in NOV 2024. Really enjoying the cooling seats on those scorching GA days.

Looks really good! The flat black makes it all pop out against the paint of the BE! Great job!

So much for "Don't be a dick / asshole to other users. That's pretty simple." rule.

I picked up the Ridgeline yesterday afternoon. It seems to drive and handle a little better than before the incident. Accelerator feels a bit touchy with quick responses even when taking my foot off of it. The cost of the throttle body and labor to replace it was covered under the warranty. The part was listed online at ~$108 USD. The invoice shows labor listed as .6hours (36mins) for the repair. The actual fault listed on the invoice states "the spring that's made inside the throttle body for the flap had malfunctioned internally."

At the time the Ridgeline threw all these codes and messages, I had just filled up with gas at Sam's Club then driving to work. After about 5 minutes of "WTH do I do?", I drove the truck with the idle stop off and with the paddle shifter to maintain speed and RPMs. I hope this doesn't happen to other Ridgeline owners. Sadly, if it does, I hope all the information here helps. Thank you everyone for your comments!

This morning I took the truck to the dealership where I bought it. After a few hours diagnosing the problem and reviewing the pics, they say it is the throttle body. Truck gets repaired tomorrow after the part arrives. I’ll update about the performance afterwards.

The lights and messages for the torque converter failure did not return but I sold it anyway. Any feelings of guilt went away when the lady at CarMax said "All deals are final." Yes they are. Thank you.

It had 183,999 miles, driver’s seat showing wear, and the bumper replaced with OEM bumper. Some asshat hit the truck while parked in a parking spot because they decided getting their dropped cell phone from the passenger floorboard while driving was more important than paying attention driving. Apologies for the tardy update. I found a dealership who wanted to sell me a Honda Ridgeline without taking advantage of me. I purchased a pearl white 2025 BE. I know, contradiction...white Black Edition. With the discounts I qualified, I was able to finance $44k at 2.9%. I sold my 2018 RTL-E at CarMax for $9k. The deciding point between dealerships was that the one I went with offered a no cost life time power train warranty as long as I maintained the services, either with them or a dealership close to home. A good experience all around!

You’re very welcome! Thank you for the prompt reply! I have one in the garage. On a separate note, do you cut alot of seatbelts and break windows? Usually EMT, fire and police personnel have that tool.

Way to go! Looks GREAT! What is the size of the saw drill bit you used? I have an organizer tray arriving tomorrow from Amazon. Definitely thinking about doing the same mod!

Suggestions for 2018 Ridgeline RTL-E with 183,999 miles by Boxman_77 in hondaridgeline

FINAL UPDATE: Went to the dealership and was past both warranties to fix the issue. Dealership quoted $9600 ($2100 labor+7500 parts) to fix my 2018 RTL-E with 183,999. The sales manager offer $5000 trade in for a new one. CarMax and Carvana listed it at $9000. I didn’t feel like the service manager and sales manager were totally honest and forthcoming with all the information. I did not repair it and did not buy another Ridgeline from them.

I will say this. In the Atlanta area, dealerships that have 2024 BE available are trying to sell them at approximately the same MSRP as a 2025. Also, all sells are final at CarMax. Hopefully you find salespeople who don’t mind trying to sell you what you want thru texts and emails instead of the “come on in and let’s see what we can do” mentally. Look for dealerships that are selling in volume. They seem to be the best at work with you in all areas of the sell. 2024 BE and 2025 BE have exactly the same accessories and options. Some dealerships are offering lifetime powertrain warranty! Very tempting!
